      That’s why stuff needs to be changed from the source material when being adapted. What works in a comic won’t always work in live action. It takes too long to get to the point in the film. Whereas in comics, you can take your time and build stuff up issue by issue.

It would have been cool to discover new bands with that sound. It was odd having a Post Malone song for the trailer, clearly to attract a certain audience, but then get to the Crow roots of the tone in the movie.

    When you said this film shouldn't be compared to the 1994 film i thought "finally someone said it". Thank you. While I think they could have come up with 2 new characters instead of reusing Eric and shelly. It doesn't LOOK like a remake. A remake would be the same as the 1994 film shot for shot like what Disney is doing. I'm gonna give this a chance and make up my own mind.

    • @maxerinmovies
      @maxerinmovies  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@AllBreaksLoose I agree, I think the names should have different, even with regards to the comic, this didn't follow the comic storyline, so a different name would have been better, and probably more acceptable by those who think it's a remake.

    • @JeremyPryer
      @JeremyPryer 5 месяцев назад

      A remake doesn’t need to be 1:1. Most remakes actually aren’t. They usually share the same plot concept and character names but do things quite differently.
      I think this will always be compared to the previous adaptation of the story because they decided to re-adapt that storyline when they really shouldn’t have. Could have swapped the characters and just called this a reboot and I feel like people would be less turned away from it.

    • @maxerinmovies
      @maxerinmovies  5 месяцев назад

      @@JeremyPryer it's not a remake though. These characters are from the comic. 1994 The Crow is Eric Draven. This Eric has no last name, like the comic. I think people assumed a remake because we got another Eric. It's not the same storyline. Only similarity is the revenge, but that's part of the core of all characters that became the Crow. I agree, renaming characters would have been much better.

    • @JeremyPryer
      @JeremyPryer 5 месяцев назад

      @@maxerinmovies it’s still a remake because re-adapting the same source material. A remake does not mean it has to be identical or keep everything from the original. A Nightmare on Elm Street’s remake is barely related to the original version of that film - even it changed lead Nancy Thompson into Nancy Holbrook - but it is still, by definition, a remake.
      And being even less faithful to it the original graphic novel this time is ironic as they originally started this production with the intent to be more faithful to it.
      For a fully new adaptation - they really needed to pull away from that original story that was already adapted into a film entirely. No Eric, no Shelly. It may have given them a chance. But now there is no scenario where you can expect people to not compare this adaptation to the previous one and I’d say that’s entirely justified as it still is intended to serve the same core purpose of adapting the same graphic novel into a film.

    • @maxerinmovies
      @maxerinmovies  5 месяцев назад

      @@JeremyPryer Nightmare is not the same. The only material to go off of is the original film. Spider-Man Homecoming is not a remake of 2002 Spider-Man. Nightmare is a remake. Comic book movies are just readapted.
      I did hear they originally started with the intention to be more faithful, which would make it another adaptation, not a remake of the 1994 movie. They were doomed anyway. Fans wanted it to be different. Other fans wanted it to be the same.

I don't have an opinion either way but from one critic to another, it might help if you had anything to say about the film that wasn't already public knowledge. There's CG. It's fine. There's action. It's Bloody. This sounds for a lot of the video like you are reviewing the trailer and not the film, or that you just read all of the reddit comments. In the future, maybe talk about some things that surprised you, or that deviated from the original film in some way that isn't already known. What was your favorite line of dialogue for example. Just some friendly advice from someone who has received similar criticisms in the past.
