That’s why stuff needs to be changed from the source material when being adapted. What works in a comic won’t always work in live action. It takes too long to get to the point in the film. Whereas in comics, you can take your time and build stuff up issue by issue.

It fit with the tone, but the person I went with made a comment that, considering the artists chosen, she wonders if they couldn't have found current bands with the same sound (and it's possible). It would have been cool to discover new bands with that sound. It was odd having a Post Malone song for the trailer, clearly to attract a certain audience, but then get to the Crow roots of the tone in the movie. Overall, music is good, but the placement in the movie is a bit off Maybe I'll pay more attention to music in future films 🤔

When you said this film shouldn't be compared to the 1994 film i thought "finally someone said it". Thank you. While I think they could have come up with 2 new characters instead of reusing Eric and shelly. It doesn't LOOK like a remake. A remake would be the same as the 1994 film shot for shot like what Disney is doing. I'm gonna give this a chance and make up my own mind.

A remake doesn’t need to be 1:1. Most remakes actually aren’t. They usually share the same plot concept and character names but do things quite differently. I think this will always be compared to the previous adaptation of the story because they decided to re-adapt that storyline when they really shouldn’t have. Could have swapped the characters and just called this a reboot and I feel like people would be less turned away from it.

I think people assumed a remake because we got another Eric. It's not the same storyline. Only similarity is the revenge, but that's part of the core of all characters that became the Crow. A Nightmare on Elm Street’s remake is barely related to the original version of that film - even it changed lead Nancy Thompson into Nancy Holbrook - but it is still, by definition, a remake. And being even less faithful to it the original graphic novel this time is ironic as they originally started this production with the intent to be more faithful to it. For a fully new adaptation - they really needed to pull away from that original story that was already adapted into a film entirely. No Eric, no Shelly. It may have given them a chance. But now there is no scenario where you can expect people to not compare this adaptation to the previous one and I’d say that’s entirely justified as it still is intended to serve the same core purpose of adapting the same graphic novel into a film.

They were doomed anyway. Fans wanted it to be different. Other fans wanted it to be the same.

In the future, maybe talk about some things that surprised you, or that deviated from the original film in some way that isn't already known. What was your favorite line of dialogue for example. Just some friendly advice from someone who has received similar criticisms in the past.
yea it’s nice knowing this is getting a following because mark and Eric are the 2 actors that did it the best outside of Brandon and to help explain where this is in the time line and how and why it’s going back to eric and Shelly they did a TV movie that was a remake of the Brandon lee movie it had one season attached to it and at the end of the one season show Shelly goes to heaven Eric isn’t there so she bounces and leaves heaven to hunt down Eric and the show ends right there and this movie with bill is the after math of Shelly leaving heaven

Here, this is just Eric, so it isn't a retelling of Lee's, just a comic adaptation. This is not following that timeline. This is a complete new adaptation of the comic. I will not say where it starts but it is not Eric Draven (Brandon Lee's), it is just Eric. A new adaptation, which I like because I don't like people trying to redo a previous adaptation when the source material is right there to do something different. This movie does something different which I like, and I think you will appreciate it too
Looking forward to seeing this. I'm really glad they give us some time with Eric and Shelly before they are killed. I think it adds a lot. Even in the comic, it was more the idea and memory of their love, than actually seeing it. I know this won't be better than the original film, but I am at least hoping it is worthier of carrying the name, The Crow than some of the sequels. I personally liked Salvation, wasn't great but wasn't the train wreck that Dead Time is. Maybe we'll get an extended version for the home release.

Props to the late, great Brandon Lee for being able to convey all that love and sadness with only flashbacks and dialogue, but I definitely feel there's more weight when we know the characters. I don't know yet if it will fail, but I don't see it being a big success. Lionsgate already slowed on marketing because I think they don't have much faith in it
