    Hi Dave, that was a excellent story, I had no relatives involved in the military when I was growing up, I started when I was about ten years old, I would class myself as a very mediocre modeller, I build for my own pleasure and not for competitions, I have subscribed to your channel so I can watch wh6st you build, very best regards from Australia, Les

      Thank you. I have never been to a modeling competition either as this hobby is for my pleasure as well. It gives me something constructive to do with my hands and I like building and learning along the way. There's so much room for learning in this hobby between building and painting techniques that I'm always learning something which is important to me.

    I’m or rather was a precision engineer working on CNC lathes as a programmer, setter and operator but a spinal problem had me medically retire early. My doctor was worried about my brain shutting down and asked me what my hobby’s were, none that I could do anymore so he went back to my childhood and as soon as I said modelling he said that’s what you need to be doing to keep your mind sharp. That was some seven years ago now and I’m enjoying the hobby immensely. It has changed a lot from the early seventies and for the better only person around you could ask back then was the chap selling you your kit so you youngsters really don’t know how lucky you are having the internet and Facebook, RUclips and all the cool products on sale now. Although I still like making my own from oil paints and pastels. Anyway I found this interesting so thanks for this one. I do love your channel to as I mostly build interior kits but not yet the 1/16th stuff unfortunately to expensive for my pockets 😔😔😔 anyway keep up the great work you do it’s really appreciated 🙏😊🤓😎🤩👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

      Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your story! I'm glad to hear that you're able to enjoy the hobby. When I started as a kid it was as you said, internet wasn't as big, social media wasn't a thing yet so getting hobby supplies wasn't an easy thing so I did with what I had. Being able to get cheap hobby supplies and Tamiya kits on Amazon makes it so much easier for someone interested in the hobby to start today

      @@relentlesstorm I think the children, if we can get them off there phones etc, they have it made today. There’s so many outlets for them to learn from. Especially your channel because you don’t swear. I know a lot of wonderful modellers out there but because they swear I am careful who I let my grandchildren watch now ( 6 and 9 ) they do know swearing but the less they hear at the moment I’m hoping they won’t use it as much but… playground chatter 🥴 I’m not an old grump I just want them to enjoy there childhood. They love modelling and I have a few kits set aside for them so when they come to stay for the weekend they get them out and we all sit at my bench making a wonderful mess 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t mind as they are enjoying themselves and learning all the time. They know more about technology than I do and are always showing me how to look for stuff on the internet 🤓🤩😎 they love it when they find what I’m looking for on RUclips for modelling and I must admit they do like your channel. I think it’s your voice… because you are ALWAYS calm, soothing and not getting frustrated and throwing things around 🥴😳🤪 it makes them think modelling is actually a good hobby to have so… keep up the wonderful work you are doing it’s not just the oldies that enjoy your work it’s the youngsters too 🤩🤩🤩 I wish you all the very best for the future sir 🤩🤩🤩 there’s an old Scotish saying… “ Lang may your lum reek “ which means “ long may your chimney smoke “ in other words “ I wish you long life “ 😁😅😅

      @@relentlesstorm I wouldn’t be if it weren’t for kind folk like yourself who give so much more for free to us. This hobby cost’s enough but then to go and set up a RUclips channel to help your fellow modellers 😳😳😳 that’s another expense all together more expensive 🥵🥵🥵 then there’s YOUR time… how on earth you crank these beautiful kits out the rate you do is beyond me never mind filming everything and editing it 😳🤪😅 honestly I recon you’ve a magic wand 🤣🤣🤣 anyway all I’m trying to say is thank you to you for doing everything you do for us for free 🤩🤩🤩 I truly wish I could become a patron but at the moment that’s definitely out the window but as soon as I can I’ll be giving you something back for all the kindness and wonderful builds you’ve brought us all. Your an inspiration sir so never forget that AND your a nice person to so from me AND my two granddaughters… THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏 keep up the awesome work, take care and all the very best, Kenny 😊🙏🤞👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Amazing skill set you have there… I’m recently getting back into the hobby. Seriously this time. Airbrush and compressor I use now and detailed brush work. Like you my grandfather was in the navy back end of ww2 and had a passion for aircraft himself doing airfix kits back in the 1970s. He bought me my first kit as a kid and now I want to build loads of models and practice all the techniques. Currently working on a k2 British Austin ambulance by airfix. Great hobby to be into👍

    Bro, why do we have the same model past XD, my grandpa was a Korean War vet and my mom was a big history person because of this, and that also was something I shared. WWII became my passion as well, especially the Soviet sides, given that I’m a born Russian (although living in the US) but my first ever model was a Tamiya 1:35 M4A1 Sherman (which looks just godawful), I would love to share more of my story but obviously I can’t share that all here sadly.

    • @relentlesstorm
      @relentlesstorm  2 месяца назад +1

      It's incredible how we come from different backgrounds but have similar stories. I actually have a few Russian armor pieces and they are quite fun to model because of all those rough cast steel textures. I started armor modeling with an M41 and an M48 from Tamiya myself. A great starting point!

    Question: these full interior model kits require a lot painting prior to assembly. Do you cement painted parts to painted parts? Do you assemble before painting? Do you mask off areas that will require cement?

    • @relentlesstorm
      @relentlesstorm  2 месяца назад +1

      The process is much different with interior kits. I use subassemblies to avoid needing to mask as much as possible. When attaching painted parts together, I prefer to use CA (super glue) because it won't damage the paint. I don't mask off areas that will need cement for that same reason. Check out the links in the description to those interior builds if you want to see more details on the interior builds.
