This video is the gift that keeps on giving. Question, 18A Fitness has a specific TACP prep plan and a SW Prep plan. I am prior service Loadmaster and currently a civilian training for TACP Officer which plan should I go for. I am currently trying to dial in that 3 mile run in under 22 mins and bring my swim down by 30 seconds. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

My man! It’s not as intense as the TACP Prep. It’s going to start pretty slow, and build up. SW Prep in the later weeks would be difficult if you’re just jumping into it, but the coaches are really good with the programming to have you primed at the end of it. You’ll be restricted on your freedoms there, living in a BMT open bay dorm with around 150 other people in 3 bays. The active duty cadre there will still be there to instill discipline, so as a prior guy keep the guys your leading sharp. Best of luck 🤙🏻
Trying to get into the AF wanting to be a TACP. Waiting for all the medical stuff to be reviewed. I had a buddy who waited a whole year and got no where. Hope that doesn’t happen to me
The best advice that I can give is to look up “The Jack Daniels Running Formula”. Jack Daniels is a running coach, and I’ve used his running programs when I ran college track. I believe he has like 3 or 4 versions out now.
Both endurance work and speed work. You want 1 1/2 miles to feel like 1 1/2 blocks. Build your endurance to 3 miles, 5 miles, even 10 miles ( which will help you to also feel like your ruck marches are not that long). You want to feel like that 1 1/2-mile distance is not even a challenge but more of a joke. Simultaneously, one time a week, do speed work of 1/8 mile, 1/4 Mile, and even 1/2 Mile intervals with rest in between. Ultimately you'll get faster and the rest intervals will get shorter.
I've been doing a lot of research on this career field lately. My original plan was to go to college and do Air Force ROTC to try to get a pilot slot. When I received little to no financial aid I started looking at careers in the air guard to help pay for tuition and other stuff. My question is this, would it be possible to go to college whilst being a TACP in the Air Guard?
Have you seen or know of any people make it through the pipeline with sports injuries that happened prior to going through such as ruptured discs and knee tears? Thank you.
Quick question because I keep hearing conflicting things. If you are currently AD and your retrain window is open will you have to go through the 8 week special warfare prep course or will you go straight into TACP prep? I keep hearing that if you’re retraining you don’t have to but I’m also hearing that I’m going to have to go through Special warfare prep
That’s a good question. I talked to one of my instructor friends down there and prior service guys were going through special warfare prep...but that’s new, and they were just testing it out. There’s no answer I can give you because things down there are constantly changing. Prepare for anything. Also, just TACP Prep just got dissolved and there is now no more TACP Prep.
I saw tacp were allowed to get medical training, what medical training is this and would a medic with advanced training then retraining into a guard tacp be beneficial or seen as a regular retraining candidate?
I'm currently in talks with a recruiter to get become a TACP, what in your opinion will help me stand out and get selected during the selection phase of the pipeline

I’m a married 24 yo guy thinking about joining the AF and really interested in TACP. Any idea how long in general I would be away from my wife during the entire pipeline?
An ANG recruiter told me that it was highly unlikely and that most likely you'll skip the prep course. If this is good information, which I doubt b/c he didn't know about the last course, you'll have to PT like a stud b/c you'll have a hard time leading a bunch of first-term airmen that have been literally preparing for 8 week straight, getting top-tier PT coaching, exposure to pain in a formal training environment, etc.. I'm really hoping it's not true and that PS will get some type of prep (I heard maybe PS would go to the same course as the TACPOs go to prior to A&S).
I'm hearing TACP Prep got dissolved and they may potentially be adding dive and air assault to the list of TACP quals? Why was TACP Prep dissolved, and is anything going to replace it? Or is it just going to be prep and straight into the pipeline?
Yes, TACP Prep no longer exists. As of right now students just go straight from Special Warfare Prep to the TACP Schoolhouse. As far as dive and air assault being part of initial quals, it is currently no...but I can’t confirm or deny what the future will bring.
@@nicp7454dive is definitely not practical for TACPs in my opinion, but air assault is a good bit of knowledge that is useful. Understanding Army rotary wing capabilities, working with them, their procedures and rappelling are good things to know.
It’s hard to do when you’re training MMA full time. I take a little off my gym workouts when I’m training MMA because it’s really easy to overtrain.
