Using your father's stone and friends knife this carving looks complicated. But what a honor and blessing to watch.Thank you for the lesson and the sentimental journey. ❤ This is what makes life so special memories.

Awesome beginning to this project. A very complicated pattern. This will be a great series.

    Mr. Christie
Thanks for sharing such an interesting tutorial. I appreciate the explanations of how the movement and placement of the head alters both side and top plan views. Many years ago I purchased a roughing and finishing knife from Curt’s Waterfowl Corner. These were designed by Tan and have long been some of my favourite.

Knew Tan Brunet very well and his son Jett. I used to carve with Carl Danos from Cut Off louisiana. Been carving now for 35 years. Mostly decorative decoys. Enjoyed the video. Have a great weekend. Old carvers never die…we just whittle away. 👍🇺🇸🙏

Tom, what measurement should you use when Pat's book and a study bill are not the same. Then to size with a picture for a pattern.

You could do either if you have a high quality study bill. I normally would use dimensions from Pat’s pattern and size my pattern accordingly. Most of my study bills match up with Pat’s patterns really well.
