Thanks for the tips. Seems like commons sense but the more I see people doing what you're saying the more I understand not everyone's got a clue lol. Keep up the good work Captain.
I was fishing on the San Diego Oct 14th and a private boat was following us all day. Captain Ryan kept yelling at the guys to stop poaching our chumline and told them to sell their boat lol.
Sometimes following a charter around works pretty good, other times we smoke the charters, its all in understanding fisheries. Ethically, if you are not putting someones fish down by being to close its all good.
There s not a worse sight than getting halfway to your waypoint and looking back to see your baitwll pump has stopped working and your bait is dead or dying. Have a backup pump.
Good tip about not fishing for boats, but like all tips, there are exceptions. IF there is a large biomass of fish, and "the fleet" has found them--then you and even the pros will check it out. That does not say you CRASH that ring of boats, you keep your distance, watch and if they are all hooked up, you pick a spot down current--not, I did not say in their chum line, you pick a spot that is well out of casting range. Even pay boats do that, I've watched them many times do it. But, they never cut between two boats that are working an area and always keep their distance, but yes, they do use the fleet sitting on a biomass to locate fish; that is no different than watching diving birds, they can be true indicators.
@@yoursaltwaterfishingguidec5187 Yeah but I get your point, don't go from one boat to another looking for fish AND I often don't find a fleet of boats, usually we both know there are better ways to estimate where they might be.
Cant stand when i spent all morning looking for the fish and finally i get some bent rods in our boats and bam now we are surrounded by people 30 foot in any direction
What happens when it's the charter boat that decides you're in the way and they encroach your space? Captains that need to show paying passengers a good time are way more desperate than your average personal boater. Go to the forums and read how many of these party boats do exactly the same thing.
@@bdoutdoorsdotcom-m4p Agreed. Just posting on behalf of personal boaters because they definitely get blamed a lot since there are so many more out there. But them charter boats can be quite douchey as well.
Hey Dave my name is John I went out government cut Mia fl looking for kelp beds but spent a whole day looking didn’t find any what do you suggest. 😂 lol just kidding you are on west coast good knowledge to have thanks John 🇺🇸🇺🇸🐟🐠🎣🛥🌴⛱😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻

I believe Captain Dave Hansen, is referring to all boats.

@@IBleedBolts Totally agree. Unfortunately I've been in both kind of scenarios. Thats why I really like this 5th tip :D
