Johnnie, alongside the rest of the “older generation “ DJ’s are the soundtracks of growing up and living a life… he played just the music I like accompanying his gentle voice…will be appreciated for ever! Thank you Johnnie🎉🎉
johnnie has been with me on the radio since the 70s ,allways loved his programs from pop the question to the eagles......not enough space here to say how much i have enjoyed his shows .and i know that he meant a lot to many .....thank you and god bless
Johnnie Walker WAS AND STILL IS A TRUE LEGEND. Growing up 60s - 70s listening this man on a small transistor radio in my room or on the street corner in the rain with friends. One of the best radio presenters ever. Not like the 90s and onward rubbish who clamber over each other for fame. This man serviced the nation of young and the older generation with his distinctive voice. Not just that he was loved by each and every one of them. Johnnie Walker thank you for the music, the nostalgia and the wonderful memories, lots of them.
I was listening to one of Johnnies' shows and then turned off the radio to make it down to Hyde Park for an Eagles gig. As I walked through the park, who literally comes across my path but Johnnie and Tiggy(Stardust!). After polite introductions we got to talking about the band and how the sound is not that bad from outside the concert area. I told him that I would write to him about the show from where I stood. The next week he read out my thoughts about the show and played my request. Johnnie Walker, you and Tiggy are a class act!! Thank you so much for all the work you have done on radio!!
This man has lifted my spirits a thousand times, brought me much joy over many decades. I recall being deeply saddened many years ago when I thought it was game over for Johnnie when he had a health issue and went off air for a considerable time, only for him to come back even brighter and fitter than before. We are so blessed to have such a gold standard DJ like Johnnie in our lives, the world's a better place for it.
I first listened to you from radio Caroline and would listen on my transistor radio secretly with earphones when I was 12. You kindly played "all of my love" by Led Zeppelin on my husbands 64th birthday in 2014. You have been the soundtrack of my life. Love, light and blessings.
You can leave this world with masses of pride.we will miss your first rate radio presenting choice of music and professionalism which have NEVER FAILED❤️
The epitome of a professional. Brilliant broadcaster and I'll miss you so much Mr Walker. Radio legend, Brilliant, thanks so much for your dedication to entertaining millions of people xx
I fondly remember listening to Radio 1 and Johnnie broadcasting the new top 20 every Tuesday lunchtime in the early 1970s when I was a teenager at secondary school. We all gathered around the radio, it was part of our lives. Thank you for the memories...
I was a regular listener to Johnnie's Sunday show and I made sure to listen to his last ever one and it was a corker !. Great selection of songs and a fitting farewell from Johnny, with the lovely Tiggy Stardust by his side. God bless you Johnnie and God bless Tiggy who will find it so hard without him but can be comforted in the knowledge that, when it is her time, they will be reunited. Love lasts an eternity.
Jonnie is a musical educator. He doesn’t just spin the records but gives us an insight into the music, writers, singers and players. Tomorrow afternoon is going to be very different but the 70’s is my era and I will continue to listen but with a much better understanding of the decade I danced to. Thank Jonnie. ❤
This man, the soundtrack of my life...pop the question sent me back to school late after lunch at home. 90% of the music I listen to from 1971 onward...Springsteen, Neil Young, John Prine, steelydan & liad's more, oh Johnnie Walker your the very reason. Missed him so when he went to USA Johnnie. Thank you my friend for the great joy of my music. God bless you always xx
I listened to Johnny on Sunday past. So very sad that was his last show. Won't be the same without you Johnny. A National Treasure. You will be so missed ❤️
Thank you Johnny forc all the wonderful entertainment you gave us each Sunday afternoon. It was like inviting a Friend into your home who shared your love of music.
The last track Johnnie placed in his Jukebox was Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd - he has impeccable musical taste. Remembering listening to Johnnie in the primary school taxi back in the 1970's, and he played a track for my mate on the Rock Show during Covid lockdowns. Rock on Johnnie!
Jonnie has been the sound of my life all the years of my life. Thank you Jonnie for all the joy you have given and for all the great music you have played.
It remember listening to Johnnie Walker in the 70s when he presented the lunchtime show on Radio one. I loved the Pop The Question feature and my school friends used to listen with me. I was a teenager in the 70s and loved listening to Sounds Of The 70s every weekend. But best memory of Johnnie Walker will be of him playing my selection for the BTO feature, It's All Over Now Baby Blue by Graham Bonnet.
Johnnie has been such a part of the last 60b years of our lives and we many great interviews, I recall Ian Dury on with JW and it was touching. Bless you man!
Oh we’ll miss you Johnnie! I’ve enjoyed your shows over the years, but you’ll always be a radio legend, Johnnie. He’s On!! he’s Here!! Johnnie Walker! Thank you so much for such brilliant radio!
Remember Johnnie was the one that you listened to on the radio, he had a knack of making you feel like he was talking to you and not just talking for the sake of talking .. I will miss his Sunday show, but your health comes first my old friend, bless you and your wife Tiggy ❤ ..
Like many others here I’ve followed Johnnie’s career since the pirate ship days , particularly recalling those car flashing episodes out to the ship . What a brilliant broadcaster and a very brave man who , as he knows, has been lucky to have a tower of strength in Tiggy by his side …
Without doubt possibly thee most famous voice ever on British radio Johnnie was a fantastic presenter and when Johnnie was on the air it was such a “comfort blanket” for most people to hear his dulcet tones on a Sunday afternoon. But god bless you Johnnie and your lovely wife you are and still are thee voice of radio.
Johnnie you have been with so many of us for so long, thank you for giving us all so much pleasure. You are a fine, fine fellow, I’m looking forward to listening to you in the afterlife, all the very best to you and your lovely lady! 😀👍❤️
One of my favourite interviews you did on radio Johnnie (Peter) was the one with my musical hero .. Mr Robbie Robertson . It was brilliant . Thankyou and god bless Mr Peter Dingley aka Johnnie Walker...
Sunday Afternoons will NSVER be the same again. I have listened to SOTS since 2017 and felt part of the family. I was a child of the 1970s being born in March 1963 love 1970s music. God Bless you both Johnny and Tiggy. xx
I listened in on Sunday afternoon last Sunday great show but I was deeply moved because it was his last ever show. I think Bob Harris is going to take over Sounds of the Seventies. I like Bob so I will carry on listening. Jonnie is going to be a huge miss because he was a brilliant presenter. Enjoy your retirement sir. Stay as healthy as you can be.
God bless you Johny, i remember listening to you throughout the 70’s and 80’s then picked you up again in the early 2000’s. In those days presenters were like old friends who were with you throughout your working day.
What a lovely couple Johnnie and Tiggy are , remember Johnnie right from the start ,tuning in to his 9.00p.m show on Pirate Radio Caroline on 199 metres in 1967 , listening on my new car radio I had for my 18th birthday , with the famous ' distorted intro ' and Duane Eddy's ' Because They're Young ' which will forever be associated with Johnnie.Bless you for all the pleasure you have given over the many years .
A beautiful man, and unlike his contemporaries he was real - growing up in the 70’s his voice made you feel : don’t worry it’ll all work out. Thank you Johnnie.
I`ll miss you terribly Johnie , you were like a best friend through my daily walks and what comfort you bought to people with Tiggy in lockdown was magical .
I used to have my little transistor radio under the bed covers tuned in to Radio Caroline waiting to hear the intro to your show the great Duane Eddy playing "Because their young". Thank you Johnnie for the music over the years. God bless x
Hi Johnny you have such an upbeat approach to life and what awaits us(all I hope!).I have listened to you all through your life and career and it has given me much pleasure ,Thanks very much
Absolute LEGEND of a DJ, his voice is so soothing you could listen to him all day. Sir Johnny Walker sounds wonderful so why hasn’t he been knighted for his services to broadcasting? Wishing you many more years Johnny🍾🍻
I used to listen to the lunchtime Johnnie Walker show and remember when he left the BBC for the first time for the USA, around the mid-70s, he bade farewell by saying something like ''I'm looking forward to riding off into the desert on my Harley ... take care everyone'' and then he played out with Peaceful easy feeling by Eagles. That stuck with me for some reason and I cannot hear that now without thinking of Johnnie and his farewell message all those years ago.
Thanks Johnie for ALL the joy you've given us all. I'm sorry you have this illness..."refuse it"!!!!!!!!+.... you didn't ask or pay for it... With love and inner strength Wish and throw it out of your body . All the very best love from us all
Used to love writing down the artists and their positions in the charts as a kid on a Tuesday to see if my favourites had gone up or down! Great memories of a class act for bringing me that joy. Hope your spirit has found that special place JW 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Johnnie Walker has been part of my whole life since I was a teenager . I am now 76 . He would play music not on the BBC playlist (Duelling Banjo's) comes to mind . He was anarchic and upset those prats at BBC who didn't understand what the youth of the day wanted to hear ...Sacked (or should I say a parting of the ways , like Simon Mayo who is in the same mould which at least commercial radio has given him freedom,) I don't know how many years later , came back as good as ever . A shame he has lost that silky voice . God Bless you Johnnie . Please try and do one more broadcast of all the music that would upset BBC that you weren't allowed to play .
You are a true legend of the airwaves thank you for all your amazing programs and keeping the soundtracks of our lives alive for us all You are right your spirit will live on forever

I am so sorry to hear of Johnnie Walker's illness. Have enjoyed listening to his shows for many years. Had the pleasure of seeing him at the Plough Theatre in Devon some few years ago. What an entertaining and delightful man . All good strength be with you Johnnie!
