Thanks for pointing out the difficulty in bathroom breaks while wearing bib shorts. I was planning to upgrade from cycling shorts to bib shorts, but have decided against it now.

Yea, I wouldn’t want to deal with that on long rides. Was on the fence about it too, but being someone who goes to the bathroom a lot after drinking liquid I’ll stick to shorts.

Difficulty in bathroom breaks is the key when making a decision. Great video.

For the summer waist shorts are great but in the winter I prefer bibs

I’ve always wondered what the point of the captain caveman suit was, and now I know, and knowing is half the battle. I just need to figure out what the other half of the battle is now

I used to have cycling shorts.
But due to being overweight the waistband kept rolling down my stomach.
I got a pair of BIB shorts on sale.
The difference is like night and day when it comes to comfort.
I will NEVER go back to shorts.
As for going to the toilet.
My BIB shorts are stretchy enough that I can pull the front of my shorts down and do a number 1 quite easily without having to remove anything.
My BIB tights have a zip in the front and I can do a number 1 just as easily by pulling the zip down.
Now, numbers 2's are a different matter.
Yes, you have to half strip off to do them unfortunately.

This was exactly what I needed to read, I’m having this same problem with strapless shorts (bought them thinking straps would be uncomfortable being a larger guy)

If you're heavyset and are trying to get into cycling - go waist shorts. Bib Shorts rarely ever fit, hardly anyone makes the suspender straps long enough.

Bib shorts all the way. As a guy, I've never had a problem with going the bathroom as they pull down easily. Shorts just roll around the stomach - awful.

shorts are best for me been riding since 2013. Shorts are lighter. bibs are more material thus hotter esp when bodies are trying to cool during hot summer rides. easier to piss. easier and faster to put on. i actually dont like bibs at all. they put more pressure on my stomach than shorts.
