    I am glad you decided to grow outdoors and not do windowsill even though northern growers need indoor advice. Good to see the new vids showing actual wild growing conditions. No going against the natural state.

    I've long been looking for a handful of info on these species and yours is the most informative film on RUclips! Thank you Maria for all the details. I've had spectacular success with Nobile - it grows like crazy and has keiki everywhere plus flowers. From 4 mother planst I after a year have 17 plantlets and even the spikes with flowers produce roots (i keep them on mother plant though). I bought Dendrobium Phalenopsis last month but destroyed flowers spraying them with water :( they got brown spots from sunburn. Looking forward to new blossoms.

    That was very detailed and informative between the two dendrobium orchids. I just purchased a dendrobium phaleanopsis and it doesn't look healthy and I will attempt to revive to its healthy state. I watered it with bloom fertilizer and hopefully it will be okay. It has a few flowers so I hope the bloom fertilizer won't do any harm! Thanks for sharing!

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  9 лет назад

      draco003 I don't think the bloom fertilizer will do any harm...I usually don't give the fertilizer at full strength and just to make sure it will not be too powerful for the orchid...If you have been giving the orchid adequate lighting, fertilization and water and it still looks weakened...I would definately do a repot to ensure that the root system is okay and that there is no insect or mold infestation. Give it new medium and a new start just to ensure it's health. Dendrobiums like good, indirect sunlight and like a little dry time in between watering so make sure that you are giving it what it needs and it should work out well for you facebook.com/MyOrchidAdventures ...if you would like to send me a pic via Facebook: Myorchidadventures...I may be able to give you further information. Best wishes, thank you for watching and HAPPY GROWING!

      Thanks for the tip! I will take great care of it and keep my eyes on the roots. I think it will be okay...fingers and toes crossed ;)

    Thank you for this great video; I've just got my first Dendrobrium-Phaleanoposis... I think that's what kind it is. I have re-potted it in bark then fertilised but flowers are dying. I wonder whether I have covered too many roots and should have left some to sit out of top. I've subscribed to your channel also.

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching and for your positive feedback! I don't believe the blooms dying is due to the covering of the roots...if planted in bark they should be fine. It more than likely is due to the shock of repotting. I would not overly concern yourself just as long as it stays green and continues to grow you should be fine. I will keep my fingers crossed for you in hoping that it grows well for you. Thanks so much for subscribing and joining me on my orchid adventures. I am hoping that my videos will be beneficial in your orchid adventures! HAPPY GROWING! :)

    Maria you mentioned that the den nobile needs at least a 50' or below winter dormancy in order to bloom in the spring. I think I am in trouble living in South Florida..UM area. I thought of placing them in a compact fridge for the night temperatures. What do you think?

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  9 лет назад

      SHARON SHORTYes...there are many that have to do this to enable their plants to bloom. It's a great idea...just ensure that you set it at proper temperature....and don't forget to take them out during the day. :)

    • @SHARONSHORTOrchidsandGarden
      @SHARONSHORTOrchidsandGarden 9 лет назад +1

      Oh, when should I start placing them in and out of "cold storage" lol!! You are the best!

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  9 лет назад

      SHARON SHORT you may also check Craig's list to find them in your area...or even garage sales...I have seen mini fridges go as low as 20.00. During the end of Autumn when temperatures begin to drop...They should begin to receive regular temperatures again in the middle of Feb. or during the spring season but don't forget to take them out during the day to receive light. Good luck! :)

    Beautiful plants . ... And I love ,love ,LOVE the antiques!!!!!!! I have a question:
    I have a Dendrobium Pierardii (mounted) , I water it every other day , so far so good , but what's your recommendations for watering a mounted orchid?
    I deffenately don't wanna kill it .

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  8 лет назад

      Thank you and yes I love antiques too! I don't have to many mounted orchids...but for the handful that I do...I have to make sure that I water as often as possible as they have a tendency to dry out very quickly. The ones that I have get watered daily....but if yours is well insulated with moss than you may not have to water as often...just make sure that is getting the required waterings....and if you are watering it every other day and it is happy and healthy then that may be it's required watering...it's really all about how your orchid has adapted to YOUR ENVIRONMENT that's going to determine it's best action you should take. I hope this helps. HAPPY GROWING!

    hi , I love your videos and watch them as much as I can. I have a dendrobium candy corn ? I think is common name. I got it and it was full of green leaves now their all turning yellow and falling off. I can't find anything online about it. I'm having a problem tell the difference between the two types as well. I can send pics if on email. help please. I can send pics of them .
    thanks and any help would be greatly appreciated

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  8 лет назад

      Hey there and thank you so much for joining me on my orchid adventures! :) ...I wouldn't worry to much if the leaves begin to fall off...both types can do that and still be healthy and still continue to bloom on the leafless canes...the only time I would be concerned is if you also notice extreme wilting or discoloration in the cane...which is usually an indication that something could be wrong....feel free to post pictures of it on my Facebook page at MY Orchid Adventures.
