OK, I'm sure some folks will argue with me, but that is another tenor valve trombone. Just like a "bass trumpet" is really a tenor valve trombone, and a "trombonium" is another one.
@@jerbear7952Not gonna lie, I've never been into the baritone. It's not a bright and focused as a valve trombone/bass trumpet, it's not as warm and rich as the euphonium... personally it's my last pick for a valved low brass instrument
@@TracksWithDaxThe baritone is from what's known as the 'three-quarter tube' brass family. The cornet is the soprano member of that family (I don't know what is the contrabass member, if any). They fall in between the mostly-cylindrical (till the bell flare) 'half-tube' family, including the trumpet (bass trumpet, trombone etc and I guess the cimbasso), and the mostly-conical (except for the lead pipe) 'whole-tube' family, including the flugelhorn (euphonium, tuba etc). I personally think it's nice there are these three 'families' of brass timbre to make tonal variety.
Tell that to my dad who plays valve trombone professionally and has recorded it (along with regular slide trombone and trumpet and cornet). Also, Juan Tizol with the Duke Ellington Orchestra was a great valve trombone player.
When you just can't decide if you want to play a trumpet, trombone or a saxophone.
Three jazz horns in one!
😂
You wind up with an Uglyphone. Sometimes called a Buttphone
The trombone allows for much more freedom with slurring, though. Gotta rep my instrument's strengths!
Trumpbonephone?
If I'd heard this blind, with no reference, I would have said it was a trombone.
Like, the most specific and acute trombonist with the greatest taste for space.
it really is just a fancy trombone. i play valve trombone, and this is the same instrument, just a different shape.
@@dpr74 Actually it's a fancy rewrapped bass trumpet- which itself is largely similar to the valve tenor trombone in terms of pitch and range!
Bass trumpet players be like: *"What the hell did he do to our beloved instrument?!"*
Dr.Suess comes to mind. Nice mellow sound.
Seuss
I have a valve trombone, pretty much the same thing.
But cooler
This with a 4th valve would be awesome!
Well played, great sound! And quite a funny instrument
God I would kill for a cool looking tenor or maybe even baritone normaphone
What a cool piece of instrument 😊😊😊
like its sound its verry warm , eazy to listen too
Lovely. Very cool
That's very cool, sir. Thanks for putting it our there.
This sounds really good

I'm sitting here wondering what's wrong with a baritone

@@andrewbarrett1537 as a tuba player it would be very cool to play an extra small bore tuba like that
Cool! I just learned about a new (to me) instrument.
Nice performance and interesting instrument!
Wonderful!
wowww
I own a C Valve Trombone which I enjoy playing.
Sounds great 👍🏽
Sax-TrumPhone?
yes.
Bravo le musicos ❤😊
RESPECT!
Nice? Satin silver plate? Donor instrument make and model? I'm guessing your custom maker didn't build the valve set himself, but maybe I'm wrong!
Yes, satin silver. I think the valve block was from a marching baritone.
If you need one more instrument in your sax line, give this to your 4th trumpet player and seat him down front.
It's basically like a Valve Trombone meets Saxy Trumpet
Almost like a Who-Hoober, but without the extra bells. Thanks Dr Seuss.
This is hip!
That sounded great! Where do I find a normaphone!!?
Mine is for sale if you are interested
@@tlbmusic yes! I'm very intrigued!
@@tlbmusic still for sale?
@@fortyfive_ If you are interested send me an email: tbaldridge@mnu.edu
That's really interesting. But, I have to say, it seems like a trombone built for people who can't operate a slide!
That’s not entirely true, it was made as a competitor to the sax and for some like me to just be a cool looking brass instrument
Skill issue ikr
It's the trombone for sax players who just started playing trumpet
@@DJacoby-zc1ys at that point just learn the real deal. Trombone is so much better
@@elijahkashubin I agree because I play the trombone
how much did it cost?
Too much. I have invested over $3,000.
@@tlbmusicpretty high!
Sax Trumpet!!!🎷🎺
По строю труба-тенор. Звучание интересное, жаль быстро забыли из-за классического тенор-тромбона.
Where are you able to purchase a normaphone?
I know of nowhere to buy a normaphone, that is why I had mine custom made.
Hi! Where did you get the backing track?
I do not remember where I got this. Jazzbacks has a nice track.
@@tlbmusic Your track in this video is very good. I like it
Where can I get one of these?
If you are serious, send me an email . I plan to sell this one.
Trumxphone!
The real question is does it also have a reed mouthpiece?
Who invented this instrument ??
Check out the link in the description.
It’s basically a valve trombone.
It sounds something like a Bass trumpet I guess?
Same range as a bass trumpet, trombone, baritone.
Essentially a valve trombone, bent differently - the harmonic series doesn't care.
Should I play a trombone a trumpet or a saxophone
Yes
That sounds like a trombone!
It’s essentially just a valve trombone in a funny shape.
Yes, tis a valve trombone. Still neat though.
Theres nothing normal about that aphone.
"Norma" is a ladies' first name.
@andrewbarrett1537 Have a sense of humor
Yeah...but na.
Why would anyone rather buy this anorexic saxotrumpet instead of a normal sax or trumpet? LOL
Because they like the way it looks.
It's basically a valve trombone or 'bass' trumpet but with a different shape.
Trombone for bad backbone
Okay guys its time to stop making up random instruments this is too far
Looks like a valve trombone with some funny bends. Nobody plays valve trombone except in school bands with too many trumpets and no trombones.
Tell that to my dad who plays valve trombone professionally and has recorded it (along with regular slide trombone and trumpet and cornet). Also, Juan Tizol with the Duke Ellington Orchestra was a great valve trombone player.
