Met my husband the same month I rededicated my life to Christ which was my birthday momth(July). I have been married 29 years we dated 1 year and engaged for 2 months. We got engaged on palm Sunday and married the first day of summer. My husband is a Pastor but in the past a deacon then minister. I am so grateful for a Save man and believer. I was 31 years old when I got married with no kids. I am glad I waited. I was not looking but just trusting God that someday I would be married. I was saved singe and satisfied until he asked me to marry him and I was shocked and said Yes. My husband now currently has cancer but we are trusting God for total healing and he acts like my superman he does not complain and he is always doing something to make me happy!! But my family is not nice about my happiness. So I'm am ignoring them and I'm following God. They talk about him being white and too old for me. He is not too old fir me. Hes 38 years old. So I have all my friends and other non immediate family telling me don't worry about what my parents and grandparents say. My happiness is my responsibility.

Remember, the wedding is just the beginning. Marriage is so much more, once you marry and share a household there will be many changes and compromises. You don't really get to know your spouse until after marriage. Hopefully, you have done both Christian and therapeutic pre-marital counseling. There are things that a therapeutic counselor will cover that will not be covered in Christian counseling. Be careful about what you share with others, even family members about your relationship and what takes place in your home and marriage. Let someone else sing a song that matters to you both. Forget love stories on TV, not everything is bliss but it can be your fairytale if you work on it. Communicate always, share everything with your partner, put your mate first after God. Don't rush into children until you have settled into marriage and are financially and mentally ready to be parents. Take it one day at a time. Also, make sure you are honest about your needs, desires, hopes, and steps for the future. As a saved couple you need to take everything before the father. Decide how you will handle finances, plan for purchasing your home, cars, etc. Have nothing that you haven't taken before God. Remember submission is Biblical and goes both ways. You want your marriage blessed and anointed by God. There shouldn't be any friends of the opposite sex that you don't each know about or that you spend the time with without your spouse being present or aware of.

I knew my husband lived together 6 months engaged and have been married 30 years we were saved 3 months into our relationship and my parents believed in the sanctity of marriage and didn't believe in shacking up and demanded and suggested marriage and so happy they did it wasnt easy and came with many hardships but we made it.
