The best piece of advice my mom ever gave me was right before I started working at 18 years old. She told me to do more observing and less talking [paraphrased]. I gain so much understanding by doing so and I still do it to this day. This advice kind of mirrors Proverbs 4:7 and 1 Thessalonians 4:11.

I lost both my parents when I was young, my daddy died when I was just 5 months old, and my mama died when I was 9 years old, I'm 23 years old now, but I just love the relationship you have with your parents, you are lucky to have both of them and I love the way you treat and respect them. A lot of people be forgetting that the bible also says “Parents do not provoke your children” lol
But, the part in the bible that said honor your mother and father, it is a command that comes with a promise, because it further says, "so your days may be long". Parents do not provoke your children is not a command and does not come with a promise. However I do see where you are coming from. That is why in her video Kierra said whatever way you can show honor, it does not mean you have to be close, because that is not a reality for many. Parent are imperfect humans like we all are, and so some of them are not the best people to their children, some have even abandon their children. But God's words, don't change because of humans imperfections or bad behaviors. So even if you honor them from a far, it is possible to do so. Some ways like, not disrespecting them in ones speech, maybe walking away before it gets heated, or say respectfully, I am going to hang up the phone now. Maybe keep them in pray (for good things). Maybe sent a card/gift to say I was thinking about you. We can still live by good standards/bible principles even in bad situations. And Now I have to go do better by my father (cause I am not the best). And I lost my mother, and boy I can tell you, that I have the most regrets about me and her lifetime together. I would die, to have another chance at it!!!
Yes. It says father don't provoke your children to anger. I think because the spirit of the Lord knew that a lot of men would deal with a lot of anger issues, and they would be abusive towards their children a lot. And cause of lot of drama, pain, and heartache in their lives. But I also feel that scripture is applicable to women as well. Yes. We are to honor and respect our parents. But parents must learn to see their children as their own individual person that have feelings. And they need to learn how to love and respect them accordingly.
@@natasharochelle3218 A command or what have you is a command and is still the word of God. There is a LOT of abusive parents. That include those that say they are Christian, attend church, and love the Lord. It is NOT God's will for people to endure abuse of any kind. In this season God is healing His children from the pain, heartache, and drama that they developed from experience childhood trauma and trauma in general.

Girrrrl, been there, it was a wintry day and I had my best dress on and the weather was so bad my father had to take me to highschool, I had no boots on and trying to be seen, no gloves, I had on patent leather shoes, trying to climb over a chain at school in the snow, well I also had a old fashioned girdle on in the 60's. I proceeded to do a somersault and all my clothes came up, here comes my highschool crush walking to school late as well, no one laughing but my dad. I was concerned about my crush seeing me. Mom and daughter thing is so special my mom taught me so much she didn't know how to drive and I was just learning how to drive but she taught me a lot I would be driving very slow and she would say put your feet to that paddle and drive and stop being afraid. That was 22 years ago but it seems like yesterday now I'm a very great driver. She went home to be with the Lord and I miss her so much. Great woman of God. We went everywhere together. When I see the two of you together it make me think about my mom and me when we went to the buffet together. She would say go get me a diet Coke. With all that bad food. 😂😍

Exactly! I wish more people understood this. We're not all blessed with good mothers or parents, unfortunately. It must be a wonderful feeling for those who have great parents. A mother's love and support are things I will never get to experience.

My mom definitely settled on her husband. They got married back in the 80s before she got saved in ‘93. As a result of that, I discovered (i’m 25 now) that I’ve held a lot of resentment towards her for not leaving him. I wasn’t a “bad” child growing up but I could’ve saved a lot of headache by honoring her regardless of the decision she made by marrying my father. Thank you for this video 🙏🏽
