I really want justice for Ken. I didn’t like the plot… it was dissapointing. It wasn’t what it was marketed to be. I thought it was going to be pure, funny escapism. Once again its woke, political nonsence. It causes conflict. My daughter looked at me with tears in her eyes and said, ‘will Barbie see Ken again?’ I lied and said of course they will they’re Barbie and Ken. Why is it a crime for men and women to love each other? Why is it patriarchy vs matriarchy? I miss love in movies. A movie isn’t a good movie to me without a love story. I’m a woman that loves love. I’m a woman who is grateful for the protection of my husband, just as he is grateful for the female energy I bring to the home. Love in movies creates fluffy dopamine which I miss in film, TV and books. I search for this in stories. I hope Ken gets his own movie where he moves on with a woman who deserves him. Maybe Cindy? 😂

This so annoying how much they are all talking about violence towards women and as soon as you bring the fact that male too suffers in different way (homelessness, physical agression, moral harassement from partner too, etc...) then it s not a big deal. Even slapping. You can t slap a woman (which is normal) but if a man is slapped this is because it might have "deserved it". If feminism is against violence, then condamned all of them instead of being hypocrite. Why haven t we hear you, the activist, when there was a girl raped the other day"... and the so called feminist reply was "because she was right wing ans is not for equality" This was disgusting. Sexual assault on man is really common. It happens so often yet is under-reported. She should educate herself a little bit more before she starts spewing out misinformation
@@LegoMomNdaughterI’ve witnessed men being sexually assaulted by women on nights out , the worst was a group of women who pinned a guy to the ground and pulled down his trousers and pants leaving him exposed, if the gender roles were reversed it would quite rightly be deemed a serious sexual assault

Male cashier nearly always opens the cashier to give me change and doesn't require me to buy anything. Feminism wants to erase women,

And yes, I myself am not opressed in this country. And I'm glad you dont feel or are opressed either. But you have to understand that, just because we dont experience it, doesnt mean that it isnt out there. Most countries in asia do not provide the same rights to women as to men. We only think about ourselves or our westernized countries when it comes to these matters, but dont forget that 50% or more of this world is exposed to different cultures and rules.

When there was a matriarchy..... there has never been a matriarchy that stood the test of time. The fact that a handful of people sat in a mudhut for a few decades before getting wiped out is hardly a ringing endorsement
Sorry, feminists , but here’s a reality check: A matriarchal society is NEVER going to happen because WOMEN DON’T WANT IT. In the average relationship, if the woman knows that something needs to be said yet she does not want to say it, does she say it anyway or does she simply expect the man to figure it out? If a man does not plan a date, does the woman take over or does the date fail? If a man doesn’t know what he wants to eat, does the woman choose or do they flounder until the man chooses? Who is expected to initiate and maintain the courtship process, men or women? If the man does not initiate, does the woman typically take the initiative or does the opportunity simply pass them both by? Who is thought to be responsible for making sure women aren’t objectified, the women who choose the outfits or the men who control their eyeballs? If the men don’t do with their eyeballs as the women wish, do the women adapt and adjust their attire in order to produce the desired outcome or do they insist on it being the men’s responsibility? Who is thought to be responsible for a woman falling into the toilet, the woman who sits down without looking or the man who leaves the toilet seat up? Who’s fault is it if the sex is bad? Who’s fault is it if the woman is unhappy? Who is expected to throw the argument- right or wrong- so that the other person can get their way? In fact, name ONE GODDAMN SCENARIO where the man is not EXPECTED to take charge AND where the woman is typically fine with stepping up if he doesn’t. I’ll wait. Forever. You see, women will never truly be equal to- let alone govern- men. It’s not that they CAN’T. It’s that they WON’T. Women are in absolutely no hurry to take charge and usually RESENT being required to do so. Men and women have equal value, equal potential, and equal utility. But what we don’t have is equal ACCOUNTABILITY. Women will NEVER choose nor accept the accountability that comes with manhood. Because they cannot and WILL NOT protect and provide for men, they will never lead men. Because THAT’S the purpose of leadership, not the glamour and privilege suggested by feminism. Men do what we do to protect and provide for women, not oppress them. Are feminists ready to work 70 hours a week to take care of a man? No? I didn’t think so. The matriarchy is nothing more than a delusion of grandeur. As long as men have greater responsibility and accountability, we will ALWAYS be the leaders of society and heads of household.
I feel like they’re deeply misinterpreting the barbie movie. It wasn’t hating on men, it was just about the difficulties that women face that men don’t understand. Even the thing with Ken and the patriarchy wasn’t about men being bad, it was about Ken misunderstanding what a patriarchy is and latching onto it because he is in pain and has just been an accessory to a woman for his entire life

I think the socialist lady made the best point about Barbie brand feminism drooling over female CEOs and Presidents....but the truth is that any feminism that is a true feminism needs to deal with the everyday, normal women. Do I agree with her philosophy, no. But this was a good point. It shows how hypocritical feminist are.
The reason there's an increase in reported domestic violence is because women feel more empowered and are not afraid to report it anymore. That's a feminist WIN, but the insufferable girl in this debate refuse to see it and view it as just another proof of the patriarchy. A complete misread of statistics to fit her own victimhood.
Barbie was great. I don’t consider myself a feminist either. Little preachy but fun and colourful and the sets were insane. The social stuff in it to me was relatable, it was satirical.
I live in Canada and completely off topic here what bubble are you living in? I just recently read 52 women dead in as many weeks in mostly domestic violence. Do you spend time reading news as well as enjoying the internet for interesting and fun videos? Wow, unbelievable comment and definitely out of line here!
Oh for goodness sake, people need to stop tearing everything apart, and stop looking for negativity. Accept it, Women & Men are different, and we will always need each other, that’s not debatable. It was so refreshing to talk to some of my younger family members and friends and hear their take. These women have jobs in all fields, smart, hardworking professionals and homemakers alike they ALL liked it.
It would be nice if Greta Gerwig (director to barbie) actually focused on making a bloody good, box office movie. As a woman, it would have been awesome to see her go head-to-head with Nolan’s Oppenheimer. But no - a woman has directed the wokiest, fight the evil tyranny of men patriarchy movie. Do you think Oppenheimer had any virtue signalling or political reflection about todays world in it?! She will be remembered as the woman who directed a woke mess - instead of focusing on making a great movie. Could’ve, should’ve and I really hoped she wouldve become great. Opportunity missed Greta.
In fairness, Barbie isn’t real. Oppenheimer is. There for if they’re making a moving on him it kind of has to be set it the 30/40s not present day. Barbie can do and be whatever it wants because it’s not real. Both have made a lot of money and Greta is a great director and has clearly done a good job. I think while I agree with what piers was saying I also see it from Chris’ view. It’s a make believe film and it’s a joke. Just like Ricky Gervais jokes on trans people are funny but they’re jokes. They’re not how he or I actually feel. People take things to literally. Also I’d say that Barbie is more open for the more average person which is probably why it’s earnt more. Oppenheimer is really only for those with an interest in that kind of history so it would get less attention from the average person.
Biggest movie... Give me a break. Joker is big, Avatar is big, the MCU is big, Godfather etc but Barbie?! Turns out the Rocky movies have more to give than the Barbie will ever have
Last week, I went with my 47 year old daughter, 14 year old granddaughter, and 4 of her friends. We loved this film. It was so tongue in cheek and funny. Could not possibly be taken seriously. These people just need to chill out and see the fun side of life!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I remember the good old days when movies actually had stories and were about real people. These days every movie seems to be about superheroes or dolls!
I don’t even think the movie villainies men as much as he’s making out. It acknowledges the suffering of men that comes from the patriarchy and capitalism- Ken literally has a self discovery arc in a movie not about him, and is comforted by Barbie. How can the film be “anti-men” when the message is literally that you should be there for one another. Even the male workers in Mattel could’ve been portrayed as so evil but they were shown to be somewhat silly and goofy instead. I think if you take this COMEDY movie as “anti-men” you should consider what that means for you. Why wouldn’t you want to live in a world where men and women can be creatures of empathy, emotion, and acceptance?
Well, if every woman looked like Margot Robbie I'm sure they would be able to rise through the patriarchy in the movie industry where beauty does get you to the front of the line, and, I'm sure in the real world too. Pretty privilege is a thing, and lets not pretend otherwise. But, more importantly, why not ASK the beautiful and talented Margot Robbie just exactly what she HAS endured in the predominantly male run and owned movie industry??? Hey, Pierce??? I'll wait...
Chris has the most logical explanation here. I personally didn't leave this movie thinking the Ken's were stupid infact Ken (Ryan Gosling) has won over the internet and mattel has set this up perfectly for a Ken spin off which i have no doubt will be as popular as this movie. This is about a primarily girl's toy, why can't people just let be just that. As if women or anyone are so influenced that a movie dictates my thoughts. Im gonna get back to building my bomb now after watching Oppenheimer.
I can’t even believe there is a conversation about this. Life is/ has become way too serious these days. Let’s not pick everything to pieces that’s happening in the world.
I would actually really love seeing the gender flipped version of this movie. And I would like Emma Stone to play Ryan Goslings part. I think it would be absolutely hilarious. Ryan was amazing and I think Emma would knock it out of the park too!
It was absolutely brilliant and taking the mickey out of everything! My husband, son, daughter and I all thoroughly enjoyed it. Critical thinking helps!
I like the socialist feminists point. He'll NO do I agree with socialism. BUT her interpretation of the movie and this fascination with POWERFUL women over NORMAL HARD WORKING WOMEN is a good damn point and criticism of the movie.
2:13 The animated films in the early 2000s were very good story wise and the motion captured choreography in the Barbie versions of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake was excellent.
I still want to see the Barbie movie. Most little girls cared more for Barbie than Ken. He was an accessory. "Why so serious?" In my Heath Ledger voice.
why do ppl think it's capitalism oppressing women? like, weren;t ppl oppressed before that? Women make money via capitalism...being subservient is an option!
The 2 women banging on about how badly men treat women are the same ones who are totally fine with men competing in women’s sports 🤣 They stand for nothing!
It's hilarious watching people say it was divisive when it literally brought millions of people together of all races, ages, genders, and politics. Seeing entire families including grandparents decked out in pink was heart warming. The only people who say it was divisive are some people on the right who get paid to create conflict and draw attention to their cause du jour. Everyone else is ignoring the complaints (especially from those who haven't even seen it). To those who say it was bashing Ken, it totally wasn't and the point flew over your head. It made it so that he had *his own* identity outside of just being her sidekick which is a positive thing to anyone capable of basic critical thinking.
He didnt had an identity at all in this movie.... Just like the rest of the kens... talking about critical thinking, people are only able to see it from only one spectrum apparently...
@@knightheaven8992 That is the whole point. Ken was nothing but a prop to Barbie. Kens represent what women are in the Real world. When Ken tasted power instead of sharing it he wanted to conquer all. By the end of the movie Barbie apologizes for taking him for granted and saying he is sufficient as Ken himself and he should find himself, as Kens and Barbies strive to live in a more equal barbie world. The entire Ken plotline is him gaining his independence and freedom.

The wonderful thing about the Barbie movie is the way it highlights how both men and women suffer from the existence of patriarchy. It is highlighting the pressures and struggles of being a woman while still creating space for how men are negatively impacted by greater patriarchal systems. It is a nuanced expression of what it is like to be human.

Opportunity missed Greta.

i think she's got it just right by the box office sales mate
She is outselling Nolan LMAO. And yes, the movie was great.
It's Barbie, it's allowed to be a woke mess. Were you expecting something else?
