Good old slip and score. I do like to make my slip with vinegar, rather than water, as it seems to give me a better grip, with less swelling of the clay. If that makes sense.
Great video! Here's my comment...Beware of this thing called Intellectual Copyright Infringement. Look it up. It basically says that if you didn't create it, don't copy it! If you copy someone else's work, then sell it, it can financially ruin you. Be careful what you copy. I'm sharing this with you because it happened to me. Working with clay is fun and you can do so much with it but there are legal ramifications if caught selling copies of someone else's work. I did it not knowing that I was doing something wrong. It's not worth taking the chance. Create and be happy!
I know this is old, but why not just hot glue the cicada to a slab, place pins discretely and cut the tops, and pour plaster over it? I think we are over thinking it. I know y’all got plenty of cicadas to try… so go for it, experimenting is NOT a waste of time…. It’s just as important as making finished work
Amazing ideas. Thanks Jessica.
Please show us how to attach these sprig pieces to the potteries.
Great ideas. Gonna try them out. Thank you ❤️🍀🌷
I've always wondered how to do this. Thanks!
Cicada shell's are usually hollow. You could pour plaster or resin inside to sure it up 👍
This is a great idea. I’m definitely doing this.
Hi, Jessica. Fabulous ur video's. One thing i ask u, how to make mould. 💗💗
What kind of wood is your work boards made out of?
freeze the cicada and maybe that will keep it firm enough to press
