I agree. It should help assuming OBJ still has something left in the tank. I just wish we can actually get him on the field. Jonnu Smith should probably help in that area as well.
@@kameronjones6633 I took a look at his film from last year and I agree with you. But that was last year. He's a year older with yet another injury. And the money he took to play for the Dolphins was a lot less than the money he got from the Ravens just last year. Is that reflective of how the league views him? I'm not sure. But I am hoping for the best.
@@MattNewton yea but that can be interpreted in a few ways. His contract is very incentive driven, and if he gets starter amount of reps he can easily obtain it which will lead to a bigger contract. Or…he just wants to play there
I'm with you 100% on this, Matt. Even with injuries, maximizing personnel means just that. McDaniel cannot get into a mode of codependency on Hill and Waddle, whereas otherwise the entire scheme changes. I understand adjusting to available personnel, but not so much that he's reverting to a totally vanilla package, vs the specialized ones.
Well said. And I presume some of these packages are born from practice during the week and then incorporated into the scripted plays. But there is an opportunity cost associated when not maximizing the personnel available on any given play. In a game of inches, you have no plays to spare.
@@MattNewton Precisely. Especially when your adjustments shrink the offense into a shell of itself; often so void of creativity that success ratios drop considerably. Those chronic lateral screens are just one of many examples.
I have to agree. McDaniel is at his best when he blends his genius-level creativity with extraordinary talent on the field. Makes little sense to remove either or both from the game.
@@MattNewton If he has his most elite talent incomplete on the field, why wouldn't the inclination be to become more creative to account for that? Why condense innovation when he needs it most?
Yeah, that's the other problem when there's inferior talent on the field. You have to scheme them open because they can't get open themselves. And that's not to say those players don't have value. They do. But he should always keep an alpha on the field whenever possible. He's lucky to have two. Don't bench them both at the same time.
Hey guys, what do you think about the Dolphins use of offensive personnel during the 2023 season?
Signing Odell will help a lot with having at least one of them (waddle & hill) on the field

@@MattNewton he does, he’s still very capable of explosive plays. My ravens just didn’t use him

@@kameronjones6633 Both good points. I guess I am eager to actually see him on the field. Once he scores his first TD, I'll be relieved. 😄
