    Important note: if you are in Balanced Power Plan, click on the battery icon on the taskbar (next to audio and Wifi icons) and make sure the slider is on "Better Performance" (Windows 10) or "Balanced" Windows 11. If it is on "Best Performance" it will turn on Turbo mode even if you lowered it to 99%.

    I wouldn't say my laptop's thermals are especially bad but there are a few games here and there that seemed to hit the cpu temperature harder than I was comfortable with. This is honestly an incredible tweak, very well worth doing. As for whisper mode I do still prefer to get the most out of my gpu. Since it rarely passes 70c at full power and typically 65c max in hybrid mode I wouldn't take the fidelity hit from whisper mode.
    Excellent video, more people should know about this.
    Oh and for your information since you mentioned being unsure about AMD, I did this on a ryzen cpu laptop. Definitely works. Dropped my 5800h about 15 to 20 degrees C and I can still game over 150 fps. I have noticed some slight frametime instability in a few titles but nothing terrible.

      Thank you for confirming that It will work on AMD. I also noticed the slight frame time instability especially on games that are more CPU dependant

    • @Orain88
      @Orain88 2 года назад +3

      @@ComputerSensei no problem, happy to help. I found that the framtime instability tends to happen if you are running the gpu near max capacity. For example If I'm running a game at 150 fps and my gpu usage is over 95% it's more likely to get some stutters. If I cap the framerate with riva tuner to something more modest like 120 or tweak visual settings to get gpu usage under 90% it's very smooth sailing.
      Seriously, how is this trick now better known?? Knocking 20c off cpu thermals for such minimal performance cost is nuts.
      Apex legends is one I was anxious to play because it regularly pushed my cpu into the 80s and was a minimum of 77c, with this it tops out at 65c and tends to average 61c while smoothly playing at 144hz. Truly awesome.

    Thanks for this! It REALLY helped!! I never knew about ‘whisper mode’ something that GeForce experience is actually good for! I’m quite happy playing games at a locked 60 FPS!! Shame it doesn’t work with all games but you can’t win them all I guess!
    The Cpu didn’t go above 62 degrees either and after 3 hours heavy gaming the GPU hovered around 60-70 degrees which I’m happy with!! Thank you! You’ve have earned yourself a subscriber!

      Hello there!
      I am very happy that my video helped you.
      Btw you can add any game, from program settings in Nvidia control panel. Next to the drop down where you select the program, if you cannot find the game listed there, click "Add" button, and click "Browse" from the popup. Next go to your games executable file and select it. Make this game to work with Nvidia GPU and select how much frames for it you want.
      Let me know if this doesn't work and will find you a way

    Turn off Turbo Boost is a huge slash on FPS, you can balance between performance and thermal by reducing the TDP of CPU. My CPU has TDP of 45, I reduced it to 35 and it is around 10 degree cooler, FPS sometimes drops by 10%, sometimes remains the same, do this using ThrottleStop in case you don't know.
