Rorschach's voice is terrific, he's like a mini batman but more scary because he's a small guy. He has the relentless fearlessness that means he won't stop in a fight unless you make him stop permanently...
FurballGamer Let’s be honest here. I prefer Rorschach as a character, but Batman has gotten way more shit done. Rorschach mostly handles street criminals. Batman has gone toe-to-toe with cosmic beings threatening the destruction of the earth, sometimes more than the earth.
FurballGamer, Rorschach was like Batman if he didn’t come from money & had Red Hood’s mentality. That’s what I liked about him. He was one of the people who had a bad day & rolled with it. Even though some of his views are very Black & White, he was still a hero among the people & he ended up being my favorite Hero out of the entire film. I think that Jackie Earle Haley should’ve gotten more recognition for breathing life into the character & making him so much more realistic than he was in the pages of the graphic novel. And that voice! It’s perfect for the character. He did an incredible job with it.
Pretty sure that's a Punisher line... either they got it from punisher or he got it from Rorshach. I remember Castle remarking on how it was his "vacation time" whenever he gets locked up in prison. :P
In the french dub Rorshchach screams this line, and IMHO it made it more epic. When I finally watched it in English I thought "For once, the dub makes a scene better in a superheros movie" Best line in the film either way.
Lmao I went to watch it with my aunt and my uncle in law when I was 11 or 12 and when they started fuckin in the owl blimp they tried to cover my eyes and then they made us all leave lmao
Kelly There are elements that are shit and elements that are great. I personally love it and have watched the Ultimate Cut at least a dozen times, but I also know that it objectively fails in a number of areas. The Dark Knight and Joker are pretty much universally accepted by people who actually do this for a living as the greatest examples of PG-13 and R-rated comic book movies, respectively.
I actually think they did a horrible job portraying him in this movie. Rorschach is my favorite character because he is so flawed and misguided. This movie just portrays himself as some cool bad ass guy who doesent gaf which is way off.
Oglethorpe Macgilicurty you realize his character is called Rorschach...his mask isn’t like that just cause of that one scene...it’s cause he is psycho
@@shdw8024 He isn't psycho, the jail psychiatrist confirmed that. After the interrogation scene he said he can't help him meaning he is perfectly logical.
+Joe H after seeing quite a few movie adaptations of comics (like Dark knight returns) and having read the comic it did a great job of adapting while add new elements. The ending was a bit different in the book, (had a giant squid) but the movie's was easier to understand and made more sense in how it was going to work. I think it was a great adaptation
compare the size of any book or even graphic novel to the size of a movie script and you can see why it left things out. No movie needs to be 3, 6 or 8 hours long, that is what mini-series' are for
Rorschach's mask is explained in the comic. Its like an oil substance trapped between two layers of latex and the oil moves in odd ways when heat and pressure are applied.
My interpretation , of why Rorschach mask is constantly moving is that the rosharch test is used to understand a person's mental health, the reason why i think its constantly moving , is that its showing how mentally unstable Rorschach has become after seeing The atrocities of the world and how truly dark it is after years of fighting against crime .
@@soolty1696 I don't think that should be a reason for it being a "least favorite". I would say it's my least favorite because Manhattan just killed NO's buddy and NO had to see. It gets you in feels, great sense of emotion
@@soolty1696 it’s one of the things the movie actually did better than the comic. Same with the explosions being caused by energy from Dr. Manhattan. I read the book and having dan there made it so much emotions and then he runs to fight ozy with pure rage and sadness it's an improvement to the original scene

@@hectic_heretic2924 No one should like CinemaSins. They're dishonest, pretend that their dishonesty is just humour, and literally only care about clicks. They don't care if they lie about movies as long as people click on their videos.
This movie would be huge if it were released today. It's only problem was that it was a deconstruction of the superhero genre at a time when movie going audiences were really just being introduced to that genre. Comic fans appreciated it, but the general public didn't. Judging from the success of recent movies like Logan and Deadpool that tweaked the superhero genre and pulled it apart, it seems likely that the Watchmen would be received very differently today.
The Burning Sensation good point! Might I recommend the HBO series? It’s very different from both the comic and the movie, but that’s what I love; people can have so many different stories in the same universe
@@Bartimayus Eh. Wouldn't make sense without the text stuff at the end of every chapter. Not to mention, Snyder's budget got heavily restricted. Originally he wanted to do Tales From The Black Freighter in the movie with 300-style scale and effects, but the studio didn't let him. Instead he did a separate animated version that got shoved into the Ultimate Cut.
@@swans184 Yep. All of them also interpret Rorschach differently. Moore says he's a horrible Nazi murderer. Snyder says he's a sympathetic, tortured soul who wanted to do right by his twisted logic. Lindelof says he's a sympathetic, tortured soul who then has his image adopted by horrible Nazi murderers despite the fact that he never was on.
@@fightapathyordont8931 mainstream audiences are just not accepting of dark superhero movies. Same thing has happened with Snyder's Justice League. It's unfortunate because I think they're great movies and many comics are dark. I think it worked well for 300 because no one thought of that as a kids movie like they would about Superman
Watchmen is a work of art, and I feel like the stutter slow mow that Snyder used on this film with real attention to detail on the shots was the best way to have the same feel and impact of comic book panels in the media of film.
Hell yes. As a huge Snyder fan, the speed up slow down is a huge plus to my viewing experience. I read the novel first and it feels like they are transitioning between pages/panels each time it does that. He has mastered that style and if you don't like it I guess I get it but I love it personally. Love it.
Look closer at that shot with Nite Owl from the Dylan video. You'll notice that Batman probably *doesn't* exist because in this alternate world of superheroes, Nite Owl saved Thomas and Martha Wayne from Joe Chill. Remember that in the Watchmen alternate timeline, comic books are not about superheroes at all... they're about pirates. Here's one reason why.
In the graphic novel, comic book superheroes were a thing. Superman inspired Nite Owl I and probably Hooded Justice... But the rise of "real world" superheroes diverted comics toward pirates after that. Batman comics may have slipped-in before pirates became the dominant genre. The scene does look like Nite Owl I saves the Waynes, but that's probably just a little homage, as the Wayne murders would have been like 20 years earlier.
Millwater Publishing Yes, I am aware of those "Under the Hood," excerpts found at the end of the first few issues of Watchmen. If I recall correctly, Hollis did spend some time talking about his fondness of the wholesome morality tales found in Superman, Doc Savage, and The Shadow. I don't remember if he ever spoke about Batman, but I don't think he did. Considering Batman was an adapted riff on The Shadow, I don't see where both characters would need to be spoken of in the lean narrative spun by Alan Moore, even in his early years. The inclusion of the scene in the Dylan video, I thought, was a meta-commentary on the alternate history of Watchmen (possibly one for Batman?) Again, largely unnecessary, but a cute little Easter Egg... even if it can't be verified.
It's heavily suggesting that OG Nite Owl is saving Thomas and Martha, but at the very least it's sending the message that with the Minutemen fighting crime, people like Batman wouldn't exist
Yep. Some things were changed, but I think Snyder did some things that were great in their own right, even if not completely loyal to the book. Also, I think Snyder made the world far more fully realized with his movie than the comic book did in some ways.
I like the movie. I thing the graphic novel is a little better, but that being said, the movie is well done and Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach was perfect casting.
Dan Ortiz Eh maybe still a limited audience and the ranking would deter potential viewers, and you know people would say it was riding on the hype. It's hard to say.
+Kutlu Mızrak i think its a great movie, and an in depth character study of super heroes and all their flaws. The best graphic novel ever, in my opinion, but Zack Snyder captured this beautifully, even if its almost shot for shot from the source material.

Don’t be afraid to say that CinemaWins is better than CinemaSins. He is. He actually knows what he’s talking about while Cinemasins are a couple of assholes
How the mask works was explained in the book. And that scene where Rorschach says the Comedian was "a parody" of the world's true face... There needs to be a second part to that line... While the Comedian was a parody of the world, Rorschach was a mirror for the world. He shows it it's true face. that's why they fear him. They can't bear to look at what they truly are. He shows them just how morbid and evil they are. The world is ever changing, but the difference between right and wrong (in Roraschach's eyes) is ALWAYS Black and White, just like the mask... While the shapes and forms on the mask may change, just like the people, culture, and times of real world, the nature of right and wrong will ALWAYS be black and white; just like the mask.
+FatGamerGuy The mask has two viscous liquids, one white and one black. They're both trapped under two layers of latex and that layer is then covered in white fabric. It isn't mentioned how they form patterns.
Finally someone caught it! Somehow I missed Cavill when I was looking up superman actors. The second I started Man of Steel, I realized my mistake. I even sort of poke fun at myself in my man of steel video. But you're the first to catch it.
Coming to this video late - as soon as he said it, I was "wait a minute...." CinemaWins, if it makes a difference, he was born in (old) Jersey, so you can claim he's kind-of-sort-of New Yorker. Yeah, that's it...
The reason it didn't do better is most people aren't going to want their kids to see this movie. Though i'm glad they didn't make it PG 13, it's just not a family movie like Avengers.
ABSOLUTELY! It's a big choice for a studio to go PG-13 or R17+. Money? or realistic adaption? Even though Deadpool is the biggest R17+ movie of all time, it still only took around 1/2 of the Avengers box office takings. 20th century fox knew it would never surpass the Avengers. That's why they only gave them a 57m budget. Also didn't do a summer release because they weren't trying to focus on the families going to go see it in the summer break. But turning 57m into 750m is a very good profit from their perspective!
yeah, some movies like the avengers are good you movies because the viewer doesn't do much with understanding the story,it's a good movie and you'll have good time watching it.watchmen however is not your typical forgettable movie(I'm not saying it's complicated)it's more about the story and characters and you gotta dwell into the movie and understanding what the director put there...but most people don't like it and are like"why the fuck am I even watching the movie"then start nitpicking it.I'm not saying the movie is complicated, hell naw it's not.but some people for some reasons don't feel like liking the movie
it only really exists because someone really really wanted it to. i mean the guy who produced it probably knew it would be in no mans land when it came to age demographic and the watchmen them selves are pretty obscure to non comic book readers, so i don't think it was made to be a block buster.
One awesome moment you missed is when they ask Oz what he would have done if they gunman had shot him first instead of the woman. He gives that sardonic little smirk and offhandedly says, "I guess I would have had to catch the bullet." Its this smug little moment that in the (relatively) grounded heroics is seen as bluster or arrogance. Yet later, when Laurie shoots him...
I just noticed that Rorschach is actually the shortest of the cast. He is TINY. He's smaller than even Laurie (as you can see in the Watchmen group shot that you can see here: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4e/Watchmen_cast.png He barely comes up to Dan's shoulders) But he still kicks ass and takes names. One of the arguably most badass characters ever is a short, pissed off ginger. Size ain't all I concider that a win, haha. I love your channel!
The novel had a ton of fat. The movie still isn't as good but it's one of the best superhero movies ever made. Rorschach is brought to the screen perfectly. Almost every character is. The action is better in the movie as well. In the book Ozymandias just trashes Rorschach and Nite Owl immediately but in the movie they at least put up a bit of a fight. The bullet catching scene is also done better.
"The novel had a ton of fat". Agreed, and I feel like a lot of people don't understand this. The novel is brilliant for how many things it intrinsically weaves together. If you're a reader with an eye for detail, there are hours upon hours of Easter eggs to glean out of every panel. If you're a speed-reader, you can still get a very good story, but you'll miss out on a wealth of details. Moviegoers don't have the same ability to skim the minutiae, and I think it would be impossible to make the Watchmen comic into a movie (or even a series) without it being an absolute pacing nightmare. What they chose to leave out, and what they chose to change, worked for the movie. Even this new series refreshingly decided to make a sequel, instead of trying to recreate every tiny detail of the original, and I appreciate that.
Rorschach’s death is also way better since Nite Owl is there to see it. Adds way more to the scene than he and Silk Spectre fucking did. And the Manhattan bombs taking the place of the squid things is another much appreciated change that makes all the nations uniting make more sense. They all know what Manhattan is capable of, unlike in the comics where they unite purely out of paranoia that there MIGHT be squid creatures attacking the planet. Honestly kinda wished the miniseries went with that instead of the squids, but it was still pretty good.
@@thegrapethief5514 Silk Spectre suddenly wanting sex after learning that millions of people had been killed struck me as odd when I read the comic. For any normal woman, that would be the last thing on her mind.
@@Durwood71 it makes considerably more sense when you consider Alan Moore’s views on sex and his personal disdain for the character of Rorschach. The aim of the original scene was probably to make his death seem as pointless and lonely as possible and emphasize Moore’s personal interpretation of Rorschach as backwards and unlikeable (which most readers obviously did not agree with), with him dying alone trying to do what he thinks is right while Nite Owl and Silk Spectre do the “mature” thing and have sex. Hell, it’s possible that Moore just had them do that in order to stick it to the Comics Code Authority more than he already was. However, separated from the personal biases and impositions of the original author, I agree that the scene in the comic makes very little sense given what we know about the characters and a less carnal (for lack of a better word) understanding of the human psyche.

I couldn't agree more. I could only choke down one or two of the "sins" before I had to stop for good. It's mostly nitpicking the smallest things and often they aren't even "sins" or anything bad at all. This is why Watchmen is still my favorite Superheroes movie ever. Yes I did read the graphic novel and though I like it a bit more than the film, It came really close. They cut what needed to be cut and in my opinion the ending suited the movie format better than the original ending of the graphic novel.
The film is so much better with the deleted scenes, it actually makes it way more coherent and closer to the graphic novel. It's a crime they didn't release that version as the official one.
@@christophersalinas2722 yes. And Nite Owl II wasn't so pleased when he found out. Rorschach had to restrain him from killing people publicly. Which sort of shows you how much Rorschach values their friendship. His friend would be in real trouble for this.
This film is a true masterpiece, every frame is amazing, the design, production standards and quality of the script is better than any superhero movie I have ever seen. Jack Earle Haley's Rorschach is every bit as great as Heath's Joker. I cant think of a simgle movie that can stand even close to it
My dad showed me this a couple years ago and I still love it. It's absolutely excellent because it's truly a dark comic and not just an action setpiece. It's mainly a drama with lots of interesting characters that are 3d and well human
That Tears for Fears muzak bit always makes me grin. Incidentally, the reason he uses the hydrogen atom as his symbol is that it's the fundamental building block of the universe. The reason Ozy's plan to create sustainable energy never pans out is, simply, because it was added in the film. The endgame is a little different in the book, and didn't involve having to put a public face on his experiments.
8:12 - 8:15 !!! I love that you just dinged it with no comment. That quiet little Rorschach stunt always stuck in my head as so damned cool. I often try to replicate it as a parkour instructor.
I watched this movie with no expectations and came out so mind blown that I had to watch it a second time. Now it’s one of my favorite movies of all time.
Its a MASTERPIECE of cinematography. Watched it again 2020! |Now in 4K.What a treat. Now if only they could convert it into 3D it will be the ultimate version!
If watchmen had come out just after logan or Joker people wouldn't stop talking about it I personally feel like infinity war couldn't do what this movie achieved with its story .
I had no exposure to the graphic novel. When I saw this movie it blew me away with how tighly written it was. I was, and continue to be, profoundly amazed at how negative some are about this movie. I have seen movies that don't try to impart anything meaningful and people gush about them as though their lives have been changed. This movie has so much to say about humanity and mortality that I have really found some comfort in it when I look around me. It lets me know that someone else understands the dark products that human put out. I am grateful that Z. Synder took so much care to put this movie out, regardless of critics.
I love it too but it has some obvious flaws like Rorschach being too much of a protagonist. He is a messed up man in the comic and should not be the center of the story.
Snyder brilliantly chose to visualize the movie the way the book makes you feel about superheroes. It makes them seem pitiful, silly, upsetting, disgusting, or downright absurd and cartoonish. The reason there’s “action” and “coolness” in the movie is because it’s done so over the top that it’s no longer cool. People just repeat that line on the Internet and most of them don’t even know what they’re talking about. They just say it because they’re told to
My only negative (and it has nothing to do with the film) is that my Gramps passed before it came out. It was so sentimental for me with the amazing ties to the "first gen of masked heros" and the new generation. My grandpa was one of the few guys who put together the first comic con in ny 1960s, he was the first person to collect and then sell back issues before a comic store existed , by mail order fanzine and local kids searching boxes in the basement. I am glad we did get to see a few of the first marvel films together. Everyone loved him. He really was an amazing person and was totally my Hero for being there for me during my childhood when I needed a mentor. He shared his love of comics and art and for that ill forever be grateful. Totally missing him lately.
I don't think Zach Snyder is a bad film maker. He just needs to be restrained a little. He's better when it comes to adapting others scripts/stories rather than his own. I think a lot of his downfall is when he try's to make smart films and they become unnecessarily convoluted like BVS or suckerpunch. He's not a smart filmmaker he's a visual storyteller that needs to focus on making fun superhero/action movies. Watchmen is good
Phovon this. Is the sole reason why I thought he wasn't the man for justice league (even though I liked it to an extent). I don't think Snyder is bad, but I think he's a little bit "Over ambitious" in some way
Justice league was also reshot and edited by Joss Whedon don't forget because Zacks Daughter committed suicide right at the end of principle photography
Yeah, he is the kind of director that needs restrainment. He is genius in visuals, but Man of Steel is an example that maybe he can take things too far.
honestly ive seen the zach snyder JL scenes and they are really good it had so much potential with the flash who stole the show like ben affleck in BVS who imo is the best on screen batman
In the comic, it is told through exposition that the mask was adapted from a dress that was made by the employer of one of Rorschach's past jobs. It's two pieces of waterproof fabric, with oil in the middle. It doesn't explain how the mask is symmetrical.
Love this movie. It's dark, visually stunning and has really great dialogue. Ozymandias is one of the best antagonist in comic book movies too. The ending is fantastic. Watchmen and Man of Steel are Snyder's best films to date in my opinion.
At 1:55, it's both. He made a device that produces unlimited energy that he in turn used that energy to make the bombs. At the end, you see electric Veidt cars charging on the street.
As great as that one line is, Rorschach had several great lines that all deserved wins. One of them being "Even in the face of Armageddon, never compromise." Something this world needs more of.
I've been watching movies for 40 years and roshak's line in the prison is the best line that I have ever heard without a doubt easily by far you know it I know it everybody knows it very good writing! And delivery!!!!!! Oscar Worthy if that's a thing anymore!
Why do I spend more time watching and rewatching these than I do watching the originals, especially the ones I haven't seen? I guess it's more fun liking things. Love your work.
It blows my mind that Dr Manhattan is the most realistic scientifically accurate portray of a hero with god like powers. (expect for the part when he somehow puts himself back together) Also I love that he basically created the DC universe in the rebirth comic.
7:47, Important to note Laurie wasn't conceived as a result of the rape; she was the result of consensual liaison later; this is why we see her stepfather shouting at Silk Specter I in the flashbacks. It wasn't the "conception from hate," which spurred Manhattan's realization, rather the weirdness of the coupling that SSI could still love the Comedian in spite of the horrible man he was, even if only for one interaction.
My god watchmen is such a great book. Even though it's a comic book/graphic novel it easily has the depth of Shakespeare plays in it. More people should read it.
+Tyler Stevens Somehow it still feels underrated. I feel as if you somehow took the panels in the comic book and somehow turn them into raw text, (and thus a normal book) it would be even more popular, especially in the eyes of literary critics.
Yep, comics should not be discriminated, and they should be recognized for the things no other médium can do, the drawings are actually for people with higher functioning brains, as opposed to the idea that a drawing makes something easier to understand and the main reason comics are seen as a childish waste of time. That's why I completely despise novelizations of comic masterpieces: It was a comic first, read the comic, not some jerk's text adaption
+Admiral Ackbar Nah man, the artwork itself tells a story of its own. The panels with the news-vendor talking and strips from the in-comic comic (The Black Freighter) CANNOT be replicated as poignantly in raw text. This is even more evident in the build up to the NY explosion where Veidt explains his masterstroke and alongside final few minutes of those New Yorkers' lives are shown.
Just to ask What exactly made it so good perhaps is just that I personale don't give a shit about critic on society and deep explorations of consents as morals and that I also have a personal disliking for making things real in the sense that all needs to be dark and everyone metal collapse under issues but I really don't get what is apparently so good about this or most of moors work in general.
this film's Rorschach is one of my favorite comic book movie portrayals of all time, Jackie Earle Hayley is a supremely underrated actor and I really cant imagine anyone else in the role much like Jackman wolverine or RDJ Tony Stark. also fun fact you didnt touch on, young rorschach is played by Zack Snyder's son, Eli Snyder.
I thought Watchmen was one of the best adaptations of a book I've ever seen. Of course, it's hard to really mess it up considering it's sort of in the nature of graphic novels that they read like a storyboard. All you have to do is not deviate too hard and you're golden. I regret cutting the Black Ship subplot but I understand it, and I actually thought changing the twist at the end made it better. Having Dr. Manhattan be the invented villain, instead of psychic aliens, makes a lot more sense. It really is difficult to fit everything that goes into a book into a movie, but this is about as good as it gets.
It's funny because Snyder did want to have the Freighter in the movie, with 300-level effects and scale. The studio didn't give him the budget though. If Snyder had no constraints I guarantee that this would've been a shot-for-shot adaptation.
"It gives me hope for the DCEU." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Back when people had hope and didn't realize Warner Brothers were a bunch of idiots who cower in fear when something doesn't go exactly their way.

The ending was a bit different in the book, (had a giant squid) but the movie's was easier to understand and made more sense in how it was going to work. I think it was a great adaptation
compare the size of any book or even graphic novel to the size of a movie script and you can see why it left things out.

Rorschach's mask is explained in the comic. Its like an oil substance trapped between two layers of latex and the oil moves in odd ways when heat and pressure are applied.
I will have to read it again. Is that when he is looking at kitty's dress right after she was murdered?
@@Yamamascrackdealer yes
My interpretation , of why Rorschach mask is constantly moving is that the rosharch test is used to understand a person's mental health, the reason why i think its constantly moving , is that its showing how mentally unstable Rorschach has become after seeing The atrocities of the world and how truly dark it is after years of fighting against crime .

Rorschach dropping down the ledge is SO aesthetically pleasing.
Yes. Look at Joker success with R rating. Watchmen today can be a success too
Although snyder should have stuck with the alien squid instead of a dr manhattan bomb.
My guess was always that it was too dark for a superhero movie at it's time of release.
@@fightapathyordont8931 mainstream audiences are just not accepting of dark superhero movies. Same thing has happened with Snyder's Justice League. @@Wierdboy007 I read the comic first, hated the movie 😂
This was Snyder’s greatest film imo, I really did love this whole movie.
Love it.
You nailed it. Absolute ART.
Son of a bitch...as many times as I've watched this film, I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out.

They're both fucking great. Fanboys need to chill.
you're damn right.
Yep. Some things were changed, but I think Snyder did some things that were great in their own right, even if not completely loyal to the book.
Also, I think Snyder made the world far more fully realized with his movie than the comic book did in some ways.

Rorschach's death and Night Owl's subsequent reaction still gets me.
They know how the mask works, they just said it's not explained in the movie.

I heard a lot of kids went to see this actually, lol.
***** Lol, I guess it's just expected to have kids try and watch anything superhero related
yeah, some movies like the avengers are good you movies because the viewer doesn't do much with understanding the story,it's a good movie and you'll have good time watching it.watchmen however is not your typical forgettable movie(I'm not saying it's complicated)it's more about the story and characters and you gotta dwell into the movie and understanding what the director put there...but most people don't like it and are like"why the fuck am I even watching the movie"then start nitpicking it.I'm not saying the movie is complicated, hell naw it's not.but some people for some reasons don't feel like liking the movie
it only really exists because someone really really wanted it to. i mean the guy who produced it probably knew it would be in no mans land when it came to age demographic and the watchmen them selves are pretty obscure to non comic book readers, so i don't think it was made to be a block buster.
"I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me"
If you didn't give the movie a win for this line, I was gonna riot
I just noticed that Rorschach is actually the shortest of the cast. He is TINY. He's smaller than even Laurie (as you can see in the Watchmen group shot that you can see here: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4e/Watchmen_cast.png He barely comes up to Dan's shoulders)
But he still kicks ass and takes names. One of the arguably most badass characters ever is a short, pissed off ginger.
Size ain't all
I concider that a win, haha.
I love your channel!
Indeed grit and determination count for a lot.
in the comic, when he gets arrested one of the cops says something about him wearing elevator shoes
He's short in the comics, too. Dude wears elevator shoes. Another reason why the 5'5" Jackie Earle Haley was perfect for the role.
@@thegrapethief5514 I read that Moore's intent was for the reader to dislike Rorschach, which shows you how out of touch he is with reality.

I have seen movies that don't try to impart anything meaningful and people gush about them as though their lives have been changed. This movie has so much to say about humanity and mortality that I have really found some comfort in it when I look around me. They just say it because they’re told to
Jimi hendrix is always a win
My only negative (and it has nothing to do with the film) is that my Gramps passed before it came out.

I've been watching movies for 40 years and roshak's line in the prison is the best line that I have ever heard without a doubt easily by far you know it I know it everybody knows it very good writing! And delivery!!!!!! Oscar Worthy if that's a thing anymore!
Idk if you knew this or not but the opening shot with the Batman posters is nite owl saving Thomas and Martha Wayne outside the opera house.
"This is way bigger than both of us" Good one xD
One of the most underated movies ever.
Actually, it's the most underrated film ever. (Along with Sucker Punch, BvS, Legend of the guardians and Mos)
Subbed. I love this man, so much negativity as of late, good to see some are still on the positive side. :)
1:01 Thomas and Martha Wayne are on the left too
Why do I spend more time watching and rewatching these than I do watching the originals, especially the ones I haven't seen?
I guess it's more fun liking things.
Love your work.
10:59 "This is way bigger than both of us" 😂
It blows my mind that Dr Manhattan is the most realistic scientifically accurate portray of a hero with god like powers. (expect for the part when he somehow puts himself back together)
Also I love that he basically created the DC universe in the rebirth comic.
6:12 "I'm looking at you Sounds of Silence"
I'm dying XD
7:47, Important to note Laurie wasn't conceived as a result of the rape; she was the result of consensual liaison later; this is why we see her stepfather shouting at Silk Specter I in the flashbacks. It wasn't the "conception from hate," which spurred Manhattan's realization, rather the weirdness of the coupling that SSI could still love the Comedian in spite of the horrible man he was, even if only for one interaction.
Dr. Manhattan just wanted a simple atom as his logo. You only need one proton and one electron to get the point across.
It can also be interpreted as the Doomsday Clock at 00:00.
Dr Manhattan: im a god
*draws perfect circle on his forehead*
4:00 "there arent any non American superman actors"
Henry Cavil: am I a joke to you?
My god watchmen is such a great book. Even though it's a comic book/graphic novel it easily has the depth of Shakespeare plays in it. More people should read it.
It's on more than a few Top 100 Novels of the 20 Century lists.
Best channel on RUclips
Well that just made my month.
CinemaSins is better....
this film's Rorschach is one of my favorite comic book movie portrayals of all time, Jackie Earle Hayley is a supremely underrated actor and I really cant imagine anyone else in the role much like Jackman wolverine or RDJ Tony Stark.
also fun fact you didnt touch on, young rorschach is played by Zack Snyder's son, Eli Snyder.
The “YOU’RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!” scene is still my favourite. 🤣. So brutal and awesome.
1:11 u missed Mick Jagger who was standing right next to bowie
2:08. Wait, what?! Not mentioning the Song "99 Luftballons"?!
I am looking forward to the animated version releasing this year and I hope it has a similar animation style to the comic
Very deep movie with unmatched photography and incredible writting.
"It gives me hope for the DCEU."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Back when people had hope and didn't realize Warner Brothers were a bunch of idiots who cower in fear when something doesn't go exactly their way.
As the years go by they become even more stupid, now they want a black Kal-El superman when no one had a problem with Cavill
Best superhero movie ever made, sooo underrated
“God doesn’t make the world this way... we do”
5:04 I am awed by his quick speed. His quick strike, I'd give that 10 wins alone
"im not locked in here with you, your locked in here with me" easily one of the best lines ever for just how badass it is
