not only is rift apart an upgrade in the ratchet and clank series but imo its the best looking game currently available

For the people saying that Rivet is literally an alternate version of Ratchet, I don't think she is.
In the game, there is a series of Archives about how some Lombax ended up in different dimensions as a means of survival. Meaning that just like Ratchet, Rivet might as well belong with those Lombax and she might have little to no relation to Ratchet whatsoever.
*EDIT:* As for the cutscene that says that they are, I feel like that's a conclusion or hypothesis that they had when first meeting them without the info of the archives because they frankly contradict each other and they have little to no involvement in the overall story of the game itself. In the end, the big keyword in all of this is "Might" as in, this might be true or not. We don't know yet. All of what I'm saying COULD be a thing that can be further explained in a future game.

@Mr Black They are the same person. Rift apart isnt just about different dimensions its about different realities as well. Hence why theres a Nefarious that loses (the commaon ome we've seen in previous games). And why theres a nefarious that wins (the new nefarious thats more powerful). Rivet and Kit are Ratchet and Clanks alternate selves who have yet to partner up and be heroes. Its pretty obvious from the cutscenes the gane provides. Its also why they say "You're me". If they weren't the same person they wouldn't gave said that.
@JC - 11MV 658560 The Woodlands SS That is true and a great point but ive read articles on this. Plus because of tge alternate realities different occurrences happen. In the case of both Ratchet and Rivet, they both grew up as lone Lombaxes.
In the case of ratchet he met clank which led to him being the hero he is now. While rivet had is what Ratchet might be like if he hadn't met clank. And had been alone - just like Ratchet, Rivet is a lone lombax.
The contrast for each character is how they act. Mentally they both have somewhat of the same personality and sense of wrong and right. Its just the way that the characters go about it that contrast.
For example, when Clank offers the chance to visit the lombax dimension, Ratchet is unsure about it. He has everything he needs in Clank, after all. But Rivet is desperate to see it - to finally find her place in the world. As well as the extra gameplay elements she helps bring a new perspective to the series, and while she might technically be the same character as Ratchet, it's clear she's completely different too.
Hence imo, they are the same person who had grew up and gone through different situations, occurrences, trauma, journeys and adventures to shape who they are.
Now you can agree or disagree its just an opinion in which i look at they way the story is gone about with some evidence that provides it. At the end of the day its what you think. If you think they're the same person just with flipped genders its fine. If you think they're different people of the same lombax race thats fine. Its just game that at the end of the day.

Talwyn was Ratchet’s second, possibly third girlfriend in the series and he hasn’t been particularly romantic with any of them.
It’s like he’s more attached to Clank than any female of any species.
With Rivet he seems to have a “holy shit another Lombax!” Fascination, but hopefully we’ll see some sequels or DLCs that further explore their relationship. And she would be one of the few people who can truly understand his relationship to Clank.
Kinda liked Sascha but it was kinda meh in gladiator later its like they lost spark i liked them

Hopefully in future games Rivet will have her own abilities unique to her character. I loved her in RIft Apart but she felt like an alternate Ratchet skin when abilities unlocked for both of them at the same time regardless of who you're playing as.
I really liked Rivet. She was actually the star of the show (the game in this case). Really hoping for a sequel "Rivet and Kit" where Emp. Nef. comes back since this was the first time he lost and plans for revenge.

Plus shipping the same person, (Ok, I know there is another comment suggesting that Rivet and Ratchet are not the same character, but since the game makes it very clear, and there are a lot of problems with that other comment, Rivet and Ratchet are the same person from two different dimensions.), is kind of weird.

Blackbird But Angela Cross is a Lombax. even though The Developers of Ratchet & Clank has regretted creating Angela, they did confirm that Angela is in fact a Lombax, however the reason why she hasn't appeared is left questionable. If you listen to the random newsbrodcasting feeds whenever you switch the radio transmissions in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, one of the news reports implied that Angela Cross went back to the Lombaxes via the Original Dimensionator before the events of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and she might've piloted a space shuttle that belongs to Talwyn Apogee's Father, Max Apogee. With the news report questioning if Talwyn's Father might be alive.
There's also the fact that she doesn't have a tail, however that's a given, because Female Lombaxes don't have tails. Well ok, Rivet does have a tail even though she is a Female Lombax, but the only explaination I can come up with, is Rivet's species is a different type of Female Lombaxes, who has tails despite her being a Female Lombax, and Angela might be a common Female Lombax, who in her type of Female Lombaxes, don't have tails.
So shouldn't you ship Ratchet and Angela Cross, since she is a Female Lombax?

i currently don't see ratchet and rivet having a crush of each other, more like they're very awkward to see another lombax. Also rivet is very socially awkward, and ratchet's lombax anxiety doesn't really help it. And they don't have a lot of physical screen time together(life about 15min at least). but only more games with them together can fix that

But there are strong hints that they are both into each other in some degree and Rivet who already gain a strong cult following approve them growing their friendship into something else. Most of the time when 2 souls come together and made for each other they act awkward towards each other nearly everytime they meet because they don't know what to say, but they don't deny being around each other because it excites them more than anything they truly desire. I been through on many occasions and there is one specific individual who still acts the same for me.

@The Joker I feel that most of these people that are saying he has a crush on her are not og fans and only recently joined the fandom by playing the PS4 (movie) game and they don’t know the actual cannon timeline with the future games so most of the fandom now are just making ratchet and rivet fanfics some are doing it for clot and views and others just aren’t aware I know people who played rift apart and are completely confused with the story

Even the new lore that was given to us
Yes. But Rift Apart takes place a few years after Into the Nexus. We don't know what happened during that time.

It's pretty obvious that Ratchet is showing her the Lombax ruins in Savali from Rivet's dimension. Remember that she is an archelogist and still looking for her father. There may be a clue of his whereabouts in the archives.

None of the characters are forced to remain forever at one place. Ratchet was originally Solana's hero. That changed when he was taken to Bogon and saved that galaxy as well. Then he went to Polaris and did the same. Then he traveled through tme and saved people in the past. Now he saved a parallel dimension. And the universe will keep on expanding, get used to that.

i feel like every time i re-watch 8:26 time mark for the collision, in my first time watching i thought nothing of it... but after 2 or 3 re-watches, it's clear ratchet gets a face full of rivets waist area... at first i thought he got kneed... then tailed... but at 0.25 speed well... let's just say i wasn't expecting the animators to throw him a fruit... to put it simply... now if you excuse me, i have to contemplate life and why i saw this enough to make this discovery... (edit: not saying i look for these, but it was a blink ya missed it sorta thing)

@@muhammadfahri3295 slow it down to 0.25 speed friend.... it wasn't the tail... that was the feint before the twist... it happens in less than a second so i can see why you made my same mistake when i saw it a second time. but tot put it simply, Rivet twists before the collision twice. once when she was picked up, the second as she is thrown.

Honestly if they didn't make Rivet an alternate version or something of Ratchet and made it where she is another Lombax that Ratchet met somewhere in the galaxy and probably didn't Ratchet and Talwyn a thing then maybe i would've consider them shippable.

If they actually showed the relationship of Ratchet and Talwyn in Rift Apart (Freaking put her in the game story! Not just the credits!) or more of it in a previous game, I would believe it and then have conflicting thoughts about Ratchet and Rivet being so awesome together.
Like... why not give Talwyn a bit more of a role in the story? Why not show her having a scene of her being slightly jealous or worried about her relationship with Ratchet? That would totally seem plausible to me and allow the game to still have its entertaining and quirky value! At the very least, don't just cast her aside like previous girls in Ratchet's life... Make it seem dramatic and conflicting so that we, the gamers, will be unsure and wondering what will happen!

Perhaps in the next game, though the R&C comics do emphasis that Ratchet and Talwyn are a couple, along with the Future series, then the dev statements and then the 2018 R&C artbook...a mere 3 years ago. So it's pretty firmly established unlike all the other girls, that she is with Ratchet full stop. I doubt they would just drop Talwyn after all this consistency.
Talwyn should have been in this game. Her father, Max, knew a lot about the Dimensionator and we still need to locate him. I thought we'd find him in Rivet's dimension when this game was first announced.

I know we have jumped from the ps3 to the ps5, but wow that's a jump in quality!
This is a problem I have with Talwyn being considered Ratchet's official girlfriend. There were some light hints that Ratchet was crushing on Angela and he was shown to get flustered around Sasha, but he doesn't treat Talwyn any differently than he treats anyone else. I don't like the idea of them becoming a couple offscreen when he never shows any sign of being attracted to her.

I hope in the next game they bring Talwyn along for the search of the lombaxes and then there is a romance drama between ratchet, tawlyn and rivet. I think it could deepen the relationship between Ratchet and Talwyn while also being the start of a friendship between Talwyn and Rivet.

I find it funny that they release this on PS5 despite the fact that majority of people can not get one. 10/10 master troll.
On the bright side when you do get a ps5 you'll be able to purchase (for cheap by then) a great game that truly takes advantage of the console.
Instead of a port with incremental upgrades that wastes the precious SSD space.
Could they really see this level of failure when they decided to only put it on the ps5 even then I don't think it would have worked well on the ps4
They didn't manage to figure out anything remotely interesting or entertaining to do with her in span of the three games, in which she was a tritagonist, so any reason to ditch daddy-issues Talwyn is fine by me at this point.
In general I just wish Insomniac would stop having to remind me that Tools of Destruction exists, by perpetually reusing characters and story elements from it; in terms of story and characters, it's the worst and blandest game in the mainline series and I don't understand what tf is up with devs' apparent fondness for it...
@The Joker Yeah, it is one of the most important games in the series, for all the wrong reasons.
It introduces sourse of conflict and aspect to Ratchet's character, that was never there before then and over-inflates his importance within the series' universe, undermining the achievement of his previous heroics by making him out to be a member of a lost super-race, setting him up to be special and important, not because of what he had actually done, but because of his exceptionally rare and cool alien eugenics. And that's without getting into how it actively does not fit in with the way Ratchet's lombaxhood was portrayed in all of the previous games, with no character regarding it as anything particularly noteworthy, or how presence of Angela Cross means he's actually had a prior run-in and relationship with another Lombax and yet Ratchet himself never so much as passingly remarks upon that fact.
Personally I find Tachyon to be hands down the worst main villain in the mainline series par none; his bossfight is a joke for a final boss, he constantly undermines himself as anything resembling a credible threat, coming across as neither charismatic, powerful, or clever and also his bumbling buffoonery is so on the nose it doesn't even make for good comedy, his design is unappealing and his voice is just obnoxious to listen to. So what we are left with is an annoying and unfunny, ugly purple little nincompoop, whom in his bossfight you can fry within seconds using a RYNO, and we are meant to believe that this is the villain, who single-handedly conquered an entire galaxy and drove the whole supremely technologically advanced species of aliens out of their home dimension...
As much as I like the story of Crack in Time overall (in large part because it's pretty self-contained and you don't really have to care about the whole mess of retcons and plots of the prior two games it technically follows up on inorder to get into it), the plotpoint of Clank's "soul" being conceived by some ethereal Time Guardian galaxies and lightyears away from that random corporate robot-factory, where he came out of the assembly line as a dysfunctional warbot, is extremely stupid and akward retcon just to get Clank where he needs to be for plot of CIT to happen. Only reasons it bothers me far less than Ratchet's retroactively invented grand sobstory of a background, is that the story of CIT is ultimately not really about that and it doesn't similarly mess up Clank's whole character from that point onwards.
By now we've gotten three games in which we've had her as a major supporting character and what do we know about Talwyn Apogee, except the fact that her dad has disappeared and she's got abandonment issues because of that? Legit question, cause I've got nothing. And Cronk and Zephyr managed to somehow be even more one-note, with their whole characters consisting of nothing but endless streams of trite senior citizen jokes. Atleast they were killed off by the tail-end of the Future-series.
@The Joker And important as it was in setting up the Future-series, Insomniac could have very easily done the same with Rift Apart in regards to Tools, as they did with Tools in regards to the PS2 era games; treat it as a start of a brand new storyline, that outside occational references and connecting threads largely ignores previous games' storylines to focus on something new.
There was even a perfect setup for that, in how Ratchet's whole arc with him wanting to find Lombaxes was already wrapped up suprisingly well in Into the Nexus, by Ratchet essentially realizing he already has a happy life he's made for himself where he currently is and that matters more, than search for bunch of total strangers, he just so happens to be related to. Intentionally or not, it also highlights how the most meaningful aspect of that entire plotline was ultimately for Ratchet to realize how little the goal of it actually mattered to him.
So it's extra frustrating, that Rift Apart ended up completely ignoring that whole message and Ratchet's just back to moping over his uncertainties in regards to finding the Lombaxes...

Hence why theres a Nefarious that loses (the commaon ome we've seen in previous games). And why theres a nefarious that wins (the new nefarious thats more powerful). Rivet and Kit are Ratchet and Clanks alternate selves who have yet to partner up and be heroes. Its pretty obvious from the cutscenes the gane provides.

I wouldn't say better. It's great that Rivet and Kit aren't just genderbent versions of the OG duo but the growth of Ratchet from a straight jerk to Clank. And Clank being too much of a foil for Ratchet but now a capable partner of Ratchet be it as a backpack or his very own hero; the two has gone through a lot in the universe that one entry of two badass female equals wouldn't be able to write off the stories of these legends. Of course it's still goes to say that a Rivet and Kit spin-off will always be welcomed.

@@notsans9995 Played through the entire mainline series fairly recently; Crack in Time honestly still looks really good, with probably the best looking Ratchet to date.
In Tools they tried to make him look less cartoony for whatever reason and as a result he looks really off and uncanny at times.
