Wind Breaker (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Nii that began serialization on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket manga website in January 2021. As of May 2024, the series' individual chapters have been collected in 17 tankōbon volumes. An anime television series adaptation produced by CloverWorks premiered in April 2024.
From an early age, Haruka Sakura was made an outcast due to his unconventional appearance and lack of social skills. However, the rough treatment turned him into a proficient fighter, which is now the only thing he prides himself on. Starting at Furin High School, where it is rumored that strength is valued over academics, Sakura has only one goal-taking the top spot.
Involved in a street brawl the day before his enrollment, Sakura happens to meet a group of his future schoolmates. Instead of the usual rejection, they fight alongside him, demonstrating that what the school actually cares about is protecting the town of Makochi from any harm-hence why the students call themselves "Bofurin." Surprised by the support and appreciation of the townspeople, Sakura has a hard time accepting their goodwill.
Though unfamiliar with kindness being shown to him, Sakura must learn to push past his discomfort when Bofurin is pitted against formidable enemies. After experiencing the feeling of acceptance, he finds himself fighting for the sake of others for the first time.
Choji Tomiyama (兎耳山 丁子, Tomiyama Chōji?) is the leader of Shishitoren. Tomiyama has a happy and carefree attitude, even when it comes to fighting. He is quick to ask others to fight him and does so with the same easygoing attitude regardless of the opponent. However, when his philosophy is challenged, he shows a much more terrifying and serious personality.
Jo Togame (十亀 条, Togame Jō?) is the Second-in-Command of Shishitoren. When first introduced, Togame is quickly shown to be unpredictable and fickle. He appears calm and laid back but quickly sheds that façade as soon as he angers. Togame is ruthless and arrogant during most of the Shishitōren arc, imposing his twisted morals onto himself and his peers. After his fight with Sakura, his perspective on his actions undergoes a dramatic shift. It's revealed he was actually putting up a villanous act for the sake of Tomiyama, one that had gone on for long enough to overlay with his actual personality. Even then and despite of his public displays of cruelty, Togame had morals that he was unwilling to compromise on. When Sakura berated Shishitoren for pursuing a middle schooler, Togame interrogated Arima and Kanuma about what they had done while glaring them. When they confirmed their misdeeds, he proceeded to savagely beat both of them as reprisal for their dishonor. At present, Togame is relaxed and easy to talk to. He's become fond of Sakura since their battle and even dotes on him. Though he is much more approachable and openly caring, he remains a fierce and strong fighter with undying loyalty. A true force to be reckoned with.

Honestly, not what I was expecting when I first watched Sakura leap like 10 feet to kick someone in the head.

Sakura won because of things directly relating to Togame's character and motivation keeping him from properly going all out. You can dislike that, but to call it 'power of friendship' is baffling.
And Sakura being new to the area doesn't really matter. Nothing is stopping him from being strong. And it's made pretty clear Furin is stronger than Shishitoren, so Sakura being portrayed as relative to Togame doesn't really say anything about his power in his own school.

I get the feeling people nowadays don't understand what the power of friendship is. It is rather erroneous to use that term in the battle of Sakura against Togame. Togame lost not because he is friend with Sakura. They aren't even friends at that stage. Togame lost because he lacked the conviction of what he was doing. He knew all along that he was wrong, but he kept going at it in the false hope that Choji would come to his senses someday. In reality, Togame should have confronted Choji right from the get go. This is his biggest regret, and the fight against Sakura made him realize this.
Even if Togame won the fight, what good would that do? Shishitouren was already on the verge of collapsing under Choji's tyranical leadership. Togame understood how pointless his fight against Sakura was, so he opted letting Sakura win. In the end, his decision was correct, because it eventually helped to make Choji realize how far he has fallen. It's the perfect ending to that fight. It fit the theme that the story is telling. Strength without guidance and conviction is worthless. You won't get anywhere with it.

Also i find it annoying when most people called this the power of friendship, what do they mean by that? Communication exist so people can understand each other and that's what umemiya said to sakura, a fist is conversation. While beating them up, you knocked them with some sense sht. You are not only helping yourself, you are also helping other people to change themselves for the better and thats empathy, you cared for them.
