      We all know our local cop ( rural people mostly do) . These fullas know that generally us people in the firearm community are good people. Some of them shoot at the same clubs as us! We need the boys in blue to talk to their union reps, this affects their ability to help the community because their hierarchy is making it them against us ( treating us like criminals) . Maybe we should have a conversation with our local boys and girls in blue?

      Who enforces the gun laws then? Society certainly does not want the army, for instance, to bear arms against its own citizens. Police have a role to play, but should not be involved in regulation. Their role must be focused on combating crime.

    This is all running rampant in america. Those who commit crimes are now let go, often without any bail and simply a promise to return to court. On the other hand, they are taking away guns from those who legally own them and are committing no crimes. There is a Day of reckoning coming, as it is "said" that there are likely over 30 million AR type rifles in America alone, and trying to outlaw these weapons is simply useless and begging for confrontation......

Has now been altered to a very small minority of that spirit. Everyone says they will deal with that road when it gets to them. Unfortunately the lack community, the lack of planning, the lack of agreement, and the division on the issue has never been worse here. The time is coming when we will all become the martyr. Sure, initially its an attack on law abiding gun owners and agriculturalists / farmers, but once they’ve been crushed, it will be 4WD owners, then Boat owners, then Ham Radio Operators etc etc. The trouble is, all these things being licenced and regulated, the “Stormtroopers” know exactly whose door to knock on to confiscate things.
      So it needs to be a rally involving many united groups - like they have been having in Europe. Only then will those in government know their time in power is limited unless they start working for, rather than against the people.

    In the early 1980's NSW and Victoria closed their large long term care psychiatric hospitals. The mass shootings began
    Queensland did not close its long term psychiatric hospitals until the 2000's. No gun licences were needed until the Goss life time licence was started in 1992. No criminals were permitted to own guns prior to this. Queensland did not have mass shootings.
    When Martin Bryant successfully applied for welfare benefits, his psychiatrist stated that he was likely to kill someone one day.

      @1Longranger exactly, back before this massacre i could walk into my local tassie toy store and buy a semi automatic rifle as a school kid, no questions asked. There wasn't a road sign in tassie that wasn't riddled with bullet holes. Self regulation really worked well.

    • @KuriosDiogenesJar
      @KuriosDiogenesJar Месяц назад

      @@tadstertrolley7770 Wrong. Martin Bryant did not have the required firearms licence. Nine days after his possession of illegal firearms had been referred to the Police nothing had been done about it. Martin Bryant had murdered his father to a level of civil proof, but could not get the evidence to a level of criminal proof. Now there are people being charged and even jailed for possessing toy guns. The problem is that politicians and journalists never know where to stop. This makes organisations like the NRA fanatically opposed to sensible restrictions, because the restrictions keep growing. Communist China has slightly stricter gun laws and a freer more open society. Japan and Taiwan have looser gun laws and an unelected dictatorship that brutally supresses freedom of speech..

    I had to resit for my firearms licence in tas because it had expired without my knowledge, lost in the mail , but they did phone me after to say my grace period had expired as well $500 and 6 months later to get it back . I can't shoot on my land now as its deemed unsafe now , but the rifle range where i did my test is, has a dirt backstop with a national highway behind it . When i had my guns in storage at the local police station i was told lot's of people were in the same situation because they had a mail glitch and the renewals weren't sent

    Paul Papalia needs to have a close look at what he" didn't do". The estranged wife went to her home 2 weeks prior with police to retrieve belongings surely the police could have removed his firearms. Domestic violence has been rampant in the past 12 months and the perpetrator was not of sound mind . The legislation that was supposed to save lives was not used and blundered by our WA police force . As firearm owner myself it is another attack on our sport . The news reporters need to tackle Mr. Papalia and ask "why his team did nothing" what a disgrace the 2 women involved would still be alive .

      @@markandsamafterwork I thought you were going to say in your video that the Australian government were going to give all land owners a .22 for small critters and a 12 gauge for the bigger beasts. That's what I want, because at the moment I have a big stick and a few good rocks to throw. With no licence or permit required, as the criminal with the gun doesn't have it registered with a licence or following any of the rules like it must be always kept in a safe. So do I just say to the rabbit hang on a minute you just stay right there and wait until I find my keys open the safe get my gun out open another looked box to get out a bullet and then come back out to the back paddock. This also pertains to any other animal that you might find on your property.

    Smart, balanced, sensible, worthwhile ideas and comments....a parallel is table saws in America: "people' are developing devices to prevent table saw accidents that virtually never happen....they do happen, but very seldom....i.e., flesh contact with the saw blade....far more common and likely is table saw kickback....but, the emphasis is entirely on an almost unnecessary sawstop device to wreck your saw and blade.....similar in pattern and principle for me....
