    When we built our house, i asked my hubby to put a light switch by the door that would turn off anything connected to a specific outlet. That is the outlet my iron and steam press are connected to. So when I go out the door I make sure they are off by turning off the switch to that outlet. Works like a charm.

    I have an 1800-watt, top-of-the-line Rowenta Professional steam and dry iron and definitely prefer it to the ripoff Oliso at $200.00.
    Originally $120.00, my blue Rowenta has every high-end bell and whistle imaginable, including a super-steaming 3-D stainless steel soleplate and vertical steaming. I bought it around 5 years ago on a short flash closeout sale for $55.00 with free shipping. Made in Germany (not China!) it still looks and runs like new using plain tap water.
    With easy 1-pass ironing, it produces so much steam through 400 micro-holes that mesh-top ironing boards are recommended for complete moisture evaporation. Starch and starch alternatives are rarely needed.
    There are way too many complaints about the Oliso's scorch guard system breaking. We've been using Rowenta irons since the 1970s and love them. Their technology was way ahead of its time.
    My mother paid around $85.00 for her first Rowenta steam iron decades ago. Only 1200 watts, it still looks and runs like a champ. It works infinitely better than a limited mini-iron.

    • @sandidavis45
      @sandidavis45 Год назад

      I too owned a Rowenta for years. It gave out last year so I bought another. After just 2 weeks it leaked. Rowenta refused to replace it but instead repaired it. Finally got my iron back only to have it leak again. I never stored it with water in it and made sure the steam chamber was empty. No more Rowenta, now have the Oliso. I don't need steam as this iron is hot enough and heavy enough. Got it on sale. Rowenta was quite disappointing. I expected better.

    • @paulaajohnson2597
      @paulaajohnson2597 Год назад

      @@sandidavis45 You didn’t deal with Rowenta properly. They have to replace a lemon if it's under factory warranty. Rowenta has a 25-year limited warranty.

    • @sandidavis45
      @sandidavis45 Год назад

      @Paula A Johnson I made numerous attempts to have it replaced. They refused. They were only willing to fix it again. My iron was gone over 6 weeks the first time. I wasn't willing not to quilt for another six weeks. It should have been replaced from the start. Glad your iron works for you. Mine works for me.

      This iron's US MSRP is $229.99! Its sale price is $199.99! There's no way I'd pay that much for an iron made in China. There are significant consumer complaints about the overpriced Oliso Pro Plus at Amazon.

    • @dorisosborne132
      @dorisosborne132 Год назад

      I have had my Oliso iron for over 5 years. I love it, it never drips or overflows extra water on my fabric. The plate never gums up. Yes I did pay $199.99 for it over 5 years ago, but it has been worth every dime of it. A good iron is costly no matter what the brand. I feel I have got my money worths out of this iron. In fact I purchased a mini Oliso for travel. When I do classes I make sure I take it for everyone to use. All my students love it. I don’t know why Amazon people had so many complaints. I will have to check that out.

    Thank you Laura. You mentioned not to use hard water but did not say what water to use if you have hard water. I purchased this iron and followed the instructions to a T. I have hard well water. Oliso says use spring water not distilled water. I did just that. My iron works intermittently. Some days perfect others it spits and leaks! If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

    Laura, I really really wanted this iron, and the first one I got sounded like it was breathing!! I ordered another one and it didn’t have the breathing problem, however, it would not do a shot of steam. Every time I would try to get a shot of steam all that came out was water. I was so disappointed and sad because I loved the feature of it standing up after taking my hand off the handle. So disappointed.

    I have this exact iron. I have to say I am disappointed with it especially considering the price I paid. I returned one as it leaked for replacement. I make baby bonnets and have scorched so many while pressing and had to throw them away. I also use Sulky Tender Touch to cover embroidery stitches on baby clothing. This iron causes it to curl on the edges, scorch, or not bond well. I actually prefer my old Chi - it was a better iron at half the price.

    Normally I would never doubt your word but I don't think we need minerals in anything to produce steam, distilled water is an example. To be honest I don't think any iron over time can withstand repeated use of water internally..but thats just my opinion based on leaky irons and 50+ years experience ironing..
