And while the other branches all hacked on us "Chair Force" guys as a bunch of wusses, I always wore the uniform with pride and ALWAYS treated the US flag with the utmost respect. For me (and many of us veterans), the Flag is not about me, but about those that served before us. The idea of desecrating it in ANY form turns my stomach.

I _do_ know the proper manner, but am not qualified to do it.
Therefore, I have several old out-of-service Flags folded and living in my cabinet.
I think I'll send them all to Don at the American Legion Post 39 in Orangeville UT, and give _him_ the honor of retiring our beloved Stars and Stripes. In fact, it's probably time to retire the one we're flying now. We always have a new one waiting in the wings. New Year, New Flag!

my dad was in the Army. Korean war. When my dad died he was in a flag draped coffin. They gave my brother the flag, even though I was the oldest. I rescued the flag my brother put up for a curtain. I have the flag in my house now. I folded it up and keep it safe. My husband was in the AF for 21 yrs, his father AF for 32 yrs and his little brother AF for 20 yrs. There is a lot of respect for the flag, veterans and for the US here in this house. Thank you Mr Gardner !
