I don't enjoy horror films / gorefests either, though i know loads who do and it's probably similar to why people watch these car crash/plane crash compilations on fb / youtube. It triggers a stimule in their brain that pleases them. If the question is turned round, why do you like watching "entertaining" movies, because they entertain you? Horror movies entertain a lot of people, they like that feeling of fear and suspense - some people ride roller coasters for the same fear, it thrills them. I understand your confusion regarding this though :D
