She’s even more amazing in person. I met her at a taping of mike and molly and promptly burst into tears and she was so lovely to me and gave me a big hug
Smack Talk is a cultural difference. In my family Smack talk is part of the game. I always begin each game with asking the losers not to cry. When my son was little (8 or 9) I used to trash him and his white friends when we played Sorry. Shaun and Chris grew up to be some of the finest and funniest trash talkers. Chris once said to me, that playing Sorry and UNO with me prepared him for playing poker in the Navy. My children say that I am a great loser but a very bad winner. My brother used to have an imaginary cash registrar that he would pretend to use during a Monopoly game. My dad would tell you all about why he was gonna win and then end his speech with, "no brag, just fact." In my family you had to learn to laugh at yourself and make others laugh with you.
Glad to hear these kind of stories openly on talk shows even if they derived from fantasy, reality or diveresion of both. I'm still wondering how or why? Anyhow, Melissa McCarthy happens to get all the right attention for the right reason.. Looking forward to seeing her in a more serious role!
Mark Adderley My brother has been a sitcom writer for over 25 years. He wrote for Mike and Molly and said Melissa is one of the kindest, most down-to-earth actresses he's ever had the privilege of writing for. He said she's exactly how she appears... Hilarious, self-deprecating, and generous and that she and Ben have such a cool marriage. Nice to know, right? Love her!!
Ikr? I feel like this movie's release was pushed back. I remember seeing a trailer for it months ago, before her last movie came out. Maybe they held it back so it would come out around awards season?
She's an amazing actress .. but why do these actors always go on talkshows and showcase the most boring parts of the movie? Nothing about that clip makes me intrigued enough to watch the movie, as opposed to the trailer, which would hook me in
It's part of the job. The producers and distributors want the actors to do theses talk shows and junkets to get people to the theaters. Usually contractual.
@@patriciahenderson2096 I actually like seeing them on talkshows :). Some of them are pretty funny. I meant the actual clip of the movie they would promote with are usually the most random/mundane part of that movie 😕
My caucasian coworker use to do this all the time whenever a story involved a black person. My other worker called her out on it. She said she didn't notice she did that and she hopes that we didn't think she was racist. She stopped for a while but eventually went back to doing it.
the hard truth is stephen is not cut to be a casual interviewer, melissa is very easy going and communicative, yet he has a block and cant quite unlock a fluent conversation on camera
Sahhar Hafiz i know right? I mean he always is good about letting guests speak but this time he was completely silent when she was telling the story about playing games and Vegas
Ever since he did that interview with Nicki Minaj, he has developed a major BONER for black girls .. take a look at the Phoebe interview (next guest), he is a totally different person
I love Stephen Colbert, but man, he sucks at interviewing!! Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Colbert, but it’s obvious he puts all of his efforts into his monologue, & not into getting to know the pple he interviews. Come on Colbert! Read a lil bit about your peeps & the movie they’re promoting. He only goes off cuff when it’s about Lord of the Rings or religion. Plz don’t lose your edge.
BDUB I think he is so genuine that if he doesn’t have great chemistry with someone, he is not able to fake it. Watch him interview people he loves, e.g., Dana Carvey or John Prine.
Irene Max I’ve seen all of his interviews. He’s a great guy. He’s also a talk show host & he can’t spark up conversations with just the pple he likes. He needs to show interest in everyone. He doesn’t have to like them or become BFFs - just do some basic research on the pple. If he didn’t want to do that, then he shouldn’t have become a late night talk show host.
Irene Max and again, I adore Colbert. I also know how much he wants to win best variety show over John Oliver. Maybe he should tighten up the areas he’s lacking. I’ve just noticed it in his recent interviews, & I’m sure it’s difficult to keep up with all of the news every day. This interview wasn’t so bad, but I’ve seen a lot recently that have been really awkward. This is just my opinion & it won’t make me stop watching Colbert. But I have been tuning more into Fallon & Kimmel’s interviews lately.
"Petting Octavia" - weird movie title. Also, I'm sure Octavia wouldn't like strangers rubbing their hands over her all the time! People are dumb and will do it! xD Bad friend, McCarthy!
I adore Melissa and Octavia's friendship - their stories are hilarious.
To be with Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer in a room would be a DREAM
I love how Stephen just LISTENS. Other late night hosts think they should always come up with some witty comment. No they don't. I loved this. 😊
Melissa McCarthy is a national treasure !! She’s funny beautiful, funny, kind, she’s everything!! Love her ♥️
She’s even more amazing in person. I met her at a taping of mike and molly and promptly burst into tears and she was so lovely to me and gave me a big hug
You forgot to say funny.
You noticed how Melissa McCarthy switched instantly into Lee Israel mode when she got the question? She’s amazing.
I adore this woman! So funny and sweet.
I think I'm a McCarthyist.
Dynamite lady and funny as hell. Glad to see her spreading her wings as artists do. Looking forward. ;)

That story is as good as any interview I've seen on a late night talk show...thanks for the laugh. Salud!
It's a Black thing! 😏
smack talk is not a “cultural difference” lmfao
@@luckyjasonfan it’s really not tho. a lot of people smack talk. it’s a sports thing, not a race thing. not everything has to do with race
You’re so adorable Melissa!!!
I just love this woman. I have no idea why. I just want her to be my friend!
You are amazing, Melissa!!
When Stephen chokes it's the cutest.
"Avuncular" is a word I wish I heard more frequently.
I just love Melissa McCarthy..

Just LOVE this lady; authentic, kind, considerate, honest ... just lovely.
Never actually met her, ... could be a bitch, but don’t think so.
Mark Adderley

I'm super sad that your caveat is "could be a bitch". Not from a gender point of view but just overall.
She's awesome!
She's literally describing my mother...
She is wonderful.
@Bobby Fischer your comment is so stupid. what's the point of that?
My 5 year old niece is the best smack-talker during Uno. It's awesome.
You are an amazing star!
She has the same voice as Joan Cusack. Can't be unheard.
EpistemeUM omggggggg whatttttt
We need Mike And Molly The New Season To come on And I Love Melissa McCarthy
She is lovely
I love Melissa
Good movie! Love love love, Melissa!
Full uncut interview please 🤓😉
love McCarthy!!!
Too funny Melissa McCarthy!
I FUCKING LOVE THIS WOMAN 💙
I luv her outfit. And 💅🏽
Someone: nose goes
Melissa: 0:05
this interview is so funny
"Like..like..like...like....like....like....like....like". Articulate woman resisting the pause.
Ahh Melissa McCarthy 😍🥰😘
So Stephen did not want to spoil the ending of a movie based on a true story. LOL
when did this movie come out? because i remember her talking about it like a year ago with this and other clips.
Stephen says when it comes out at the end of the clip.
Ikr? I feel like this movie's release was pushed back. I remember seeing a trailer for it months ago, before her last movie came out. Maybe they held it back so it would come out around awards season?
She's so lovely she brights
Did Stephen come to work today? His interviewing was interesting...
Can you really “spoil” historical/autobiographical films though? 🤔
I love her , shes awesome , I would love to take her husbands place she perfect
I just hope this isn't a serious movie because I just can't see her playing a serious person in a movie she didn't been in too many comedian movies💯
she gets caught by the FBI
I don't wanna give it away!
lmao too late bish
very nice . very rich up shine s in
I wanna play Euchre with Octavia Spence. I too am rather INTENSE at cards. Any cards. But Euchre...ahhh my effing element bitches! lol
.......
It's ok

padding Octavia can lead to any conversation.........
It's important that old man is Korean.
I mean, it kind of is, for the story. To Americans, Asians generally seem more superstitious than Caucasians, and he was being superstitious.
All races do this! And in this case it’s justified because she’s painting a picture.
My caucasian coworker use to do this all the time whenever a story involved a black person. My other worker called her out on it. She said she didn't notice she did that and she hopes that we didn't think she was racist. She stopped for a while but eventually went back to doing it.

That was a very poor transition Stephen. So awkward.
the hard truth is stephen is not cut to be a casual interviewer, melissa is very easy going and communicative, yet he has a block and cant quite unlock a fluent conversation on camera
Colbert has little interest or experience in Vegas or gambling. He does not know what is the big deal of one thousand dollars hands.
some of my cousin sometime refer to me as their uncle
Why does Stephen seem so cold in this interview?.
yeah, he did not seem to care, I think he doesn't like Melissa, she is just too much...
because Melissa took over the show 😂
I don’t think he seemed cold, I think he was just letting her do her thing, because she’s always got something good to say.
Sahhar Hafiz i know right? I mean he always is good about letting guests speak but this time he was completely silent when she was telling the story about playing games and Vegas

why do all American TV hosts have no personality
I dont know how Stephen Colbert got this job. I dont think he has the talent for hosting and chatting with people.
Seems like to like me like MM like cannot like actually like be like very like intelligent like
I swear its Ricky Gervais in a wig
