State Trooper Shoots Suspect After Assault On Highway Police Officer

- On June 27th 2020 at or around 7:05pm, I was on patrol in the area of Roosevelt road and Interstate 30. As I was traveling north on the service road approaching the entrance ramp, I noticed a maroon SUV traveling behind me flashing there lights and the driver was waving an arm out the window. I slowed down and the SUV pulled alongside my drivers’ side door. The occupants stated that a gentlemen just had a hit & run accident on Interstate 30 and he was attempting to flee on foot on Roosevelt road. I turned around and proceeded back towards Roosevelt road and the Maroon SUV did as well. While slowly traveling west on Roosevelt, the occupants in the SUV pointed the suspect out to me. I noticed a man standing at the bottom of the Interstate 30 exit ramp and attempted to make contact with him. I activated my blue lights as I repositioned my vehicle to get closer to him. I rolled down my window and ordered him to come to me as he began to flee on foot. As he was running slowly on Roosevelt road, I followed behind him and advised Arkansas State Police dispatch of my situation. During this time, I noticed an Arkansas Highway Police officer traveling east on Roosevelt; his emergency lights were activated as well. Myself and the Highway Police officer got out on foot and attempted to get the suspect into custody for further investigation. The highway police officer was closer to the suspect and attempted to make contact with him first. While we were gaining on the suspect, he eventually turned and took an aggressive stance towards the Highway Police officer and challenged him. At this time, I noticed there was an object in his right hand, but I was not sure of what it was. The suspect and the officer were facing each other and I could hear the officer telling the suspect several times to “get on the ground”. The suspect did not comply and the officer and suspect simultaneously made physical contact with one another, while the officer was trying to take him to the ground. At this time, I noticed the suspect swing his right arm downward in a stabbing motion while in close contact with the officer. I noticed that the officer was stunned and injured as he retreated from the suspect. As I approached, I then observed that the suspect was armed with a flathead screwdriver in his right hand. As the suspect was getting off the ground, I noticed his attention was on me; I immediately attempted to subdue him by use of my Conducted Electrical Weapon. For unknown reasons, the CEW was ineffective and the suspect continued to come towards me with the raised screwdriver.
I ordered the suspect to get on the ground and warned him that I would shoot. At this point, the suspect charged towards me with the raised screwdriver. As I created distance while back peddling, I transitioned to my firearm and fired upon the suspect 3 times. The suspect was struck and went to the ground; he briefly attempted to get up, before rolling over onto his right side. I immediately notified Arkansas State Police communications that shots were fired and to send an ambulance. There was a Little Rock Fire Department located east of our location and responded quickly; they administered CPR while awaiting the arrival of the ambulance. I requested units to help secure the scene and all appropriate notifications were made. Highway police officer Scott Kehner suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result from this incident; the suspect, later identified as Aloysius Larue Keaton was fatally wounded.

The situation with this guy actually got much worse afterwards -- a dead body was found at his home shortly after the incident. Her name was Shavone Williams.
Also, the vehicle he was driving when he wrecked was a cab he carjacked.

All LRFD members are EMT's. They arrive and stabilize patients until an ambulance can arrive which sometimes can be a long time since huge shortage of paramedics. No one wants to work and you make more as a nurse and don't have to put up with POS like this guy!! @@pb68slab18
