    Not a micro four thirds sensor, it is a Super 16 size sensor. 2x crop factor vs. 2.7x.

      Yeeeessss! - Finally someone with some knowledge! Super 16 or 1 'sensor like in the Nikon 1 cameras! Very good Raksh9!

    The BMMCC that I have records in 60fps RAW. You may want to add a note to your description or an annotation, because your information in the video is incorrect and misleading. The camera is indeed capable of recording in 60fps RAW.

      +Brad Stewart No problem. That's why I bought mine too! This video had me second guessing it because I had only used the camera once when I watched this review. So I went back and double checked by shooting some footage at 60fps in RAW. Works beautifully and the image matches perfectly to my full size BMCC. Great B-cam.

    This camera does not have a Micro Four Thirds sensor! Its only the mount! Its sensor is a 1" like on the Nikon V1, V2, V3, J1,2,3,4 cameras! So, the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera can use the MFT Lens from the MFT cameras! Ok?

    Brilliant review: I got my new Blackmagic MCC today and had the exact same problem, no HDMI output on 4 different monitors! (Signal out of range error). I eventually managed to change the frame rate by connecting to a composite video monitor. Luckily I had one!

    • @JifferRiffic
      @JifferRiffic  8 лет назад

      Yeah it's kind of freaky the first time you lose your signal from camera to monitor and can no longer view it on any monitor. Glad to hear you got yours back to a supported frame rate

    • @retro3dprinting
      @retro3dprinting 5 лет назад +1

      Try to switch off HDMI overlays. They causing trouble with some monitors

  • @SAnne-pc8hc
    @SAnne-pc8hc 7 лет назад

    It will work with lower bitrate cards when you're recording in compressed formats like Prores LT (which is surprisingly good), so unlike the pocket it doesn't seem as picky about the actual card but it will give you errors if you try to shove too much data into a slower card. The multiple 1/4 20 sockets on the bottom are there for anti-twist purposes like with cages ect.

    I turned to Black Magic Cameras "recently" and am pretty happy about it running the Ursa Mini Pro, no more thinking about cameras for the next 5-10 years. I was thinking about buying this one too but all the confused reviews of people not knowing waht to do with this one did hold me back. Your review gave me the time to rethink and damn am I thrilled to order it. Bloody hell, do I see tons of possible use for video shots. You get the full Black magic picture quality in a tiny cinema camera, just think about it! Sucktion mount. Bookshelf POV shots. Inside bass drum or inbetween drum rig. Bloody ... fucking ... hell! The only thing I'm worried about is battery life and recording time on SD cards. I don't need RAW. ProRess 422 will do just fine.

    • @retro3dprinting
      @retro3dprinting 5 лет назад +1

      With NP-F990 Battery adapte you can shoot the whole day. For ProRes 422 I recommend bigger cards. 256 or 512 GB to match recording time to battery

    Thanks for the review, very helpful although I have found that the on board mics actually do a pretty decent job, probably because I just leave the camera running in an awkward to get at space so I don't have the need to touch the body of the camera.

    Great video. Thanks. Is the focus peaking from the micro able to be seen
    on any monitor? In the micro camera box
    is there a charger for the LP-E6? And, I've heard others say the top 1/4
    inch mount on the micro is defectively loose and wobbles. Has this been
    the case with yours?

    • @JifferRiffic
      @JifferRiffic  7 лет назад

      Yes focus peaking can be seen on any monitor.
      In another video I did a test on the BlackMagic Video Assistant 1080p and 4K monitors, Those monitors have their own peaking built in that will give you focus peaking even if your camera like a canon camera does not have it.. However, those monitors just record the entire feed from cameras not just what the sensor sees. So if you where to let say put information up on your camera screen, the monitor would record that as a whole and you would have your entire camera info in the final video. It does not make sense, steer clear of the BlackMagic Video assistant monitors. Oh and no my 1/4 ount does not Wobble or become lose, Mine built correctly, although i have heard of this issue going around on a few of their products.

    I noticed some kind of weird pixelation on several youtube videos
    shot with the bmmcc and was hesitant to buy it. It seems to be most
    apparent on skin but also noticed it on trees and bushes. Later, I
    rented a bmmcc from borrow lenses for a wedding and sure enough I got
    similar results. Pixelation on some clips but other clips were fine.
    I'm surprised no one has noticed this or is talking about it. I know
    this camera is supposed to have moire problems. Skin moire? I have know
    idea.

      That is one of many uses for is camera. yes. But months less a camera is a camera as long as you have the other parts to make it work for what you need you could use it for many things.

    does the camera only output LOG film picture to the monitor like the pocket or does it also do video rec709 mode too?

    • @JifferRiffic
      @JifferRiffic  8 лет назад

      Thats a good question, I think it does both but im not 100% sure I guess i never tested it or payed any attention to it. Im sure it does both because the menu system is the same as all BM cameras are, they let you pick film or tv/rec709

    Hi. I'm thinking about buying this camera tomorrow. All I want to know is if I set a basic monitor on I'll be able too see the menu options on the monitor screen .
    I understand I have to manually set by using the buttons , but you're saying I'll have monitor problems ?

    • @retro3dprinting
      @retro3dprinting 5 лет назад

      With some monitors the HDMI overlays cause trouble. Works fine with Liliput 7" monitor, but for the eye viewfinder monitor I have to change framerate or switch HDMI overlays off. But still happy with the camera. With the inquisition prototype I can change the framerate easy.

    • @PerfectNormal
      @PerfectNormal 2 года назад

      Did you get an answer to this? Are we able to access the menu through the monitor. I don’t mind scrolling through a bunch of options. But I do have to see what the heck I was scrolling through

    you saying 60fps is only the difference,how about global shutter?

    • @JifferRiffic
      @JifferRiffic  8 лет назад

      There is no global shutter on this camera, it was suppose to have one but at the last minute of production they piled it out, only the ursa ursa mini and 4K production camera are global shutters

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo 8 лет назад

      +JifferRiffic that is soo unfortunate. For me this has always been one of the key features of this camera.

    • @MrMovieMan941
      @MrMovieMan941 8 лет назад

      they do it because global shuter will cause so much heat in that small body and it will not be a micro anyomre :) and you will lose almost 2 stops of dynamic range, and this camere was not intend to be used as run and gun camera so no need for global shutter :) and I who is global shutter fan myself support it :)

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo 8 лет назад

      MrMovieMan941 I understand. But I also think it's being used as a high quality "action cam", mounted on cars, helmets etc. It would have mattered there. But I guess the tech isn't mature enough. I must admit I'm quite surprised they haven't introduced a Pocket v2 by now. I have high hopes for it. But perhaps it's all in vain...

    • @MrMovieMan941
      @MrMovieMan941 8 лет назад +1

      i gues they are shipped with a fast scanning sensors so rolling shutter must be minimal :)

  • @BLThackrey
    @BLThackrey 8 лет назад

    The uses for this camera are quite apparent .. The remote systems would come into play where a camera is needed in a high risk location ... a car stunt for example. external and internal shots where the camera could get destroyed .
    $1500 (camera and lens) when compared to an Arri , clearly disposable for the shot. The lighter body also makes for a good 60fps aerial camera . I quite like their thinking .. you don't need a screen . a few of these could be handy.

    this is a totally different camera than the pocket. the pocket was a failed aesthetic, this one succeeds. just look at/compare footage examples (with people in it). blackmagic is obviously (and ignorantly) protecting their still existing pocket sales by saying they are essentially the same spec. but the results produced by each camera couldn't be more different. the pocket camera has been out for several years and not a single decent narrative film has been made with it.

    • @gearreallydoesntmatter
      @gearreallydoesntmatter 8 лет назад

      +steve east woofer Mad Max was pretty successful, haven't seen i myself but I hear good things.

    • @eastwoofer
      @eastwoofer 8 лет назад

      tidbits of action/stunts, and with the rolling shutter very minimally used, as they would struggle to embrace the moment with natural movement. i'm talking about skin tones in the context of narrative film. the pocket for some reason fails in this regard, where the bmmcc for some reason succeeds. this makes them very different cameras for narrative film making.

    • @gearreallydoesntmatter
      @gearreallydoesntmatter 8 лет назад

      +steve eastwoofer no one would use any of them as a cam anyway.
