I switched to diet soda when I was tired of gaining weight (granted, I had other things I needed to do, but it was a first step). My weight gain stopped, and then when the pandemic forced a change in my diet, I dropped 15 pounds.
There was one major downside, though. Because it didn't have sugar or calories, I was drinking more of it. This meant I was taking in much more caffeine, and I was beginning to feel like garbage even if I had a single can. Thankfully I was able to get it under control and save the multiple glasses for special occasions.

      @@matthewmccormick3468
i had a migraine from November 2008 to 2017. I did everything from Neurologists and MRI scans to Daith Piercings and chiropractors. I did elimination diets and discovered that if I stopped drinking diet soda for a couple of days, my migraines started to let up.
Just quitting for 1 day wasnt enough. I had to avoid it for several days. If I ever drink aspartame now, it is an instant migraine, and it usually lasts several days. I still get migraines 2 to 3 days a week, but they are way more mild than they used to be, and lets face it, I had a 9 year long migraine, so this is nothing by comparison.
I learned I had other migraine triggers, like alcohol. If I dont drink enough water, If I dont get enough sleep, etc., they get worse. But I learned artificial sweeteners, with Aspartame being the worst, artificial sweeteners were the biggest migraine trigger for me by far.
Try for a week or 2 to not eat or drink ANYTHING that has any artificial sweeteners in it, avoid alcohol, drink more water, and see how you feel. Oh. And another thing, Carrigeenan, is a migraine trigger for me, but I dont think its nearly as big of one for most people. It is an emulcifier? a thickening agent, that is in lots of things like ice cream, coffee creamers, etc., and has like 50 different names.
Try it for a couple of weeks. The worst that happens is you discover that those ARENT migraine triggers for you and you can resume eating/drinking them. One of the other things I did was started taking CBD oil. It helped more than any other supplement or medicine, but was not nearly as big a difference as cutting out artificial sweeteners was.
I really hope you get better and can get some relief. I really do. Good luck. And maybe let me know if you do get some relief. It will make me feel good knowing someone else is getting better.

I started avoiding sugar in general including artificial sweeteners as much as possible about 3 years ago and it has been a huge improvement. The most noticeable improvement was actually not in weight loss or the many other physical symptoms mentioned in this video.
For me it greatly improved mental clarity and my ability to concentrate on something. It also helped greatly with getting rid of the really bad sugar crashes I would experience at least once but often multiple times a day.
What do I drink now? Tea, mostly. I love green, rooibos and ginger tea's and it's basically the only thing I drink anymore aside from regular water.
While I highly recommend most people do the same I am also very well aware of hard it is. Sugar is highly addictive and greatly decreasing your intake is going to rough. It took my body about a month to adjust the much lower intake of sugar, your mileage may vary tho.

Had weight loss surgery last year and I can proudly say I haven't had any caffeine or carbonated beverages since. Even pre surgery I had to go 2 months without either and I felt so much better just removing that from my diet.

Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I was drinking sugar soda every day. As soon as I was diagnosed, I switched to artificially sweetened drinks (first Diet Snapple Peach Iced Tea (aspartame), then Ocean Spray Cran-Lemonade (sucralose), then Diet Coke with Splenda (sucralose). My A1C was cut in half and I lost 30 lbs. I made some other moderate dietary changes and I'm taking Metformin, so I don't owe it all to switching to diet drinks, but I think it was a big part of it. I definitely don't find that artificial sweeteners raise my blood sugar.

It's been two years since I swore off sugar and moved over to obtaining sweetness via sugar alternatives. I wasn't overweight of at risk of diabetes, I was just worried about my dental hygiene. There was this magical moment some time after I switched where I realized I no longer woke up with morning breath, that I no longer had constant flem in the back of my throat, and that even my complexion had improved noticeably.
Listen, in the worst case scenario where the theoretical health consequences of sugar alternatives are completely true, when you choose it over real sugar it's just a choice between which brand of unhealthy you want to go with, I found the potential higher risk of cancer and possible gastrointestinal imbalances to be preferable to potential diabetes and losing my teeth. Plus, my Grandma whose just about 100 years old has been drinking Diet Pepsi religiously since it was released and she's still kicking, not even in a wheelchair or anything she can still carry herself around just fine, so in my mind it just can't be nearly as bad as some of the fearmongers like to say it is.
