- The FBI along with National Park Service special agents are investigating after a gun-wielding man was killed in a shootout with Yellowstone National Park rangers on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

You know we got some serious problems when people are shooting each other at Yellowstone.
There have already been parade, fair, library, hospital, church, funeral and cemetery shootings. It was only a matter of time before they trickled into national parks. There's no place left to go that is safe.

So the guy who got shot and killed, was an employee of the Park, and was creeping on young girls. Apparently he took a girl hostage, which is what led to his death. The girl was not hurt during the shooting, and is safe.

I was staying 3 miles down the road at the camp grounds when it happened my grandpa works there and my family was visiting my grandpa he was told he had an ar15 with 5 magazines and two 9 millimeter pistols they we’re looking for him all night do to the fact he said there were to many Asians and Jewish people there and they all need to leave and that we was going to shoot them so they waited for him to show up there, knowing he had the intent of showing up to a popular location to kill as much people as he possibly could. And now the FBI is there questioning the park rangers actions because of how badly he was shot up. The employees and park rangers were saying his body was almost cut in half by all the bullets he was shot with causing them to close down the EDR
Well for one law enforcement had to get the shooter and then investigate the crime scene. It would be sorta hard to do when there’s tourists all over the place on their cameras and phones. Tourists are bothersome to buffalo can you imagine what they’d be doing to law enforcement?? lol

We stayed in canyon lodge just one week ago. We commented at that time how surprised we were at the VAST numbers of non English speaking ppl that were everywhere. Not implying- just saying it was noticeable and we took notice.
That is why I only go to the park in early spring or late fall before the mobs of people show up.

Not that surprising especially, if this was an employee. In the past, the hiring requirements/process was not the best. Many mentally unstable people find employment in the various national parks while ex-convicts find a home there, also. However, as this looks to have happened in the parking lot of the lodging at Canyon Village (which is mostly college age employees living & working during the summer) it is likely to have been a park visitor. Only in the last approximately 10-12 years have firearms been allowed within the Park. Yellowstone is a national treasure. This is too bad.
