Come with Soft Focus as we retreat from the world and into the woods in search of some forgotten remedy for lame stream radio pollution, hideous condominiums, and brutish power tripping police. In between walks around the lake and contemplating existence, we'll interview some of the most intriguing artists of this underground rock and roll culture we covet as our own cure for the world's square minded music industry. In Noisey's long form interview show, Soft Focus, we delve deep into the minds and hearts of some of the most influential and seminal musicians to grace the underground stage.

Man, this is a pretty special interview. It's very rare in an interview where someone is given enough space to articulate their thoughts and have a legitimate dialogue. Andrew seems like a great human. Thanks for sharing this.
andrews concept of making music not as an expression of himself, but as an idea is a real eye opener. fascinating.
Very glad I found this. What an intelligent person. It answered a lot of the questions I've had about his music.
Thanks. We have a bunch more set to roll out, check back on Saturdays.
ive had the pleasure of meeting Ian a few times at his shows & he was/is the nicest & most welcoming artist , very cool guy
This is one of my favorite interviews to listen to.
are there new ones in the works? can't tell you how important these have been to my discovery of various art/ideas. best series you guys have done by far, in my opinion.
that was cool, keep doing those
i love this
whoa, the answer to the last question: What is a party? was very deep
Not sure what you mean by "media network," but Pitchfork and Noisey are entirely separate entities.
The reissue got an 8.6 and best new reissue haha.
He has some produced great stuff by Wolf Eyes and Sightings, great guy.
probably no chance of this but please upload the Soft Focus with Jennifer Herrema, one of my favorite interviews ever
This was great! Andrew W.K. is a very bright artist, and the content of this interview was surprisingly appealing and relevant. Thank you for your wisdom.
Where can I get a copy of the theme song? It hasn't left my mind since discovering you.
My man.
Andrew always has reminded me in some strange way of Peter Steel. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but to two of them seem to have the same vibe to me. Idk, just an opinion.
I am very fond of the ideals and what this man stands for.
Also, Andrew WK IS a nice guy. I haven't met him in real life but from the videos I have seen, he is a nice guy :)
The guy at the start makes me think of a young Toby from The Office.
Ohhh ok! Make sense. And yes, I knew Pitchfork was a website :)
From his expression at various points i really don't think Ian was expecting the type of answers and discussion he got from andrew.
im really confused i see some videos and interviews where he is funny and not completely serious at all and then i see some like these here he is so calm and smart and real. im stuck wondering weather this conspiracy is real or not
Are Noisey and Pitchfork related channels? It seems like they both interview the same people at almost same times lol
Andrew with nice hair
wtf now i think there's 3 of them
this is a different andrew. which prototype number is that?
Iaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn your a super freak, super freakaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!
man seems like Andrew has def has an on-screen persona check out his Conan interview from 2004
I guess in this he has more freedom to be himself.
How about we all just stop caring about critics and enjoy the music ourselves
is the guy at the beginning aleister x with no makeup? lol
keyword in your comment: "pitchfork"
Does Andrew WK wear a wig?
Si i row fair owe
Yes, Noisey is part of Pitchfork's media network. Pitchfork is a website if you didn't know.
Why knotts boyberry shorts be r mud butter and r you hymm or guitar heeven? Draw
Interesting. Ian is.....um....uhh....for lack of a better adverb somewhat intriguingly awkward. No?
I can't decide if Ian is bating people into saying pretentious things for some perverse amusement, or because he genuinely cares... I'm not if he can decide either.
I love Andrew WK…I wonder if he took some sort of steroids or HGH, he looks like a linebacker now and he’s my age….the drastic change in his body type in his 30s seems impossible..you’re born with one of 3 different body types…but it might be from partying hard…I hope it’s that…again he’s awesome, just saying
45 min air drumming sessions with 2.5 lb weighted gloves a few times a week will do the trick!
Lol could be!
There's nothing pretentious about this video whatsoever.
Hope things are going better for you
people with speech impediments like this are hard to have respect for, let alone watch speak for 21 minutes
Ian Svenonius' lisp is painful to listen to.
Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
Andrew W.K.'s music is garbage. A 0.6 is generous.
crazymiles yeah to you
