So because I get a lot of the same comments, I'm just going to pin a comment to field a lot of them at once. - The title is purposely attention grabbing, that's part of the RUclips game, whether you like it or not. The news pulls the same stunt. "Hate" is stronger than "Why Does No One Care About BW Anymore?" - A lot of people need to keep in mind that Armada brought in a lot of new fans, as did the 2007 film, the latter of which also brought in a lot of lapsed fans. These two groups, who are both major parts of the fandom, have no natural affection towards the Beast Era. Both were more successful than BW and are much closer to G1 in aesthetics and tone. BW is foreign to them. This has been largely doubled down on by Hasbro since. - There are no beasts listed for 2025's Generations line, Prime. The beasts in Kingdom aren't as numerous as you'd assume and slowed down to a trickle during that line, something that has continued since. They have now disappeared. As toy-lines take about 2-3 years to get onto shelves, this decision would have been made during Legacy, Legacy Evolution at the latest. - It's interesting that Hasbro refuses to even experiment with alternatives to Vac Metal for the Transmetals such as metallic plastic. It's also interesting that while the team at Hasbro is more than happy to make obscure kind-of G1 characters because they're cool, Tarn, or to complete teams, Mini Vehicles, which all sell very well mind you, there hasn't been any non-show BW character. The big investments for more "obscure" characters are major characters in the Japanese market. They also don't move fast either, Lio Convoy and Magmatron. - MP isn't a mainline for the general demo. So long as the venn diagram of "Audience Existing" and "Audience That Will Spend Big" line up, they can do a lot of things. It's very telling however that there was a 3 year gap where the only BW figure was a redeco, Black Lio Convoy. It's also telling that it's just S1 still. It's entirely possible that they will complete S1 out of perceived obligation. - 3rd Party is in the exact same position that MP is. It's not general audiences, but for hardcore fans that will pay big bucks for short run toys. It's emblematic of very little. I have bought pretty much every Beast Wars toy since Kingdom. I'm only missing a handful of redecos, like 7, and core BM Cheetor. This isn't me going "Oh, I hate BW. It's crap. GeeWun4Life", this is paying attention to what's been going on since the Unicron Trilogy and the sales velocity of different products. I think people would be wise to pay attention to the sales velocity of every non-G1 character. Money speaks all languages and if not enough people want a product, they'll eventually stop making it. It's just a matter of finishing off whatever's set in stone and preventing it from being in future plans.
What are you talking about? Is this an Australian thing? Because in North America Beast Wars is beloved. It's more popular than the original show. Sure, you do have your occasional "gewuners" but they're a TINY minority. There WAS an initial outcry against Beast Wars before it aired, but that died off REAL quick once people watched the show. By the end of the 1st Season, "Trukk Not Monkee" was a meme, it was something people dunked on, not supported. People love Beast Wars.
Do they though? I know the fanbase online claims to love it, but the sales velocity of product doesn't match it and it's not just here. Someone isn't putting their money where their mouth is or what the fanbase buys and what general audiences buy are really misaligned. Or some combination of both.
That’s just blatantly untrue. G1 in its early days was an absolute JUGGERNAUT. People may enjoy Beast Wars as a cartoon more than G1, but going so far as to say that everyone loves it more than G1 as a whole just isn’t true. Between collector trends and the general fandom’s leaning towards G1 and G1-adjacent content, that just doesn’t hold water. Not to mention how frequent G1 reissues and previously DVD sales of the cartoon faired compared to the scant rereleases of Beast Wars in both media and toy forms.
I think part of it is just the Fan Discourse. Beast Wars is trapped in this horrible zone. The Oldest Fans hate it for not being G1, and the newest fans hate it for being G1, since there's a push to hate anything but the Movies and Prime from certain relatively large Subgroups of fans. And RotB did the characters no favors by being deeply mediocre, and giving the Beast Characters basically no role in the film.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Uff the theme song (even if I personally like more tfa intro, but that´s because nostalgia), it's AWESOME. And the characters as well, YEEESSS! (Megatron BW, best villain of the franchise).
@PerspectiveEnd I think it might be bigger than that. Armada brought in an entirely new audience, which it was designed to do. They weren't exactly receptive to it. Yeah, BW was used as filler in that line, but those toys weren't flying off shelves. 10th Anniversary speaks for itself, but even in Cybertron, while Mudflap is the notorious shelf warmer, the lower price points for Jungle Planet encountered similar issues to a lesser degree. It still baffles me people like Prime so much. I felt vindicated in taking an instant dislike to it when I saw your old video lol.
TLDR: prime fans are annoying and should feel bad. I personally think it's from aligned fans liking the darker tone from it and disregarding anything else like G1 for being a cheesy, goofy show or BW/BM for its visuals (which I honestly like), even if BW had some of the best examples of what they want (Code of hero is the best episode in any transformers show).
Kinda. I think BW kept it warm and established a lot of things we had for a long time, maybe even today, but the brand's strength now comes from Armada's success.
I'm a G1 guy but I loved Beast Wars & I'm not sure why people don't. But then again I also loved the G1 Transformers Movie which so many hated & I saw it when I was 10-ish. Funny thing is I always wanted them to redo the Transformers G1 shot for shot in the Beast Wars CG style. I nere got to see G2 or Beast Machines so I never really got into their toys.
I like pretty much every line right till Prime. I think what ended up happening is a combination of the old BW guard, and the people that came around from G1 like yourself, still have those old toys and we aren't numerous enough to support a new line properly, while animals just doesn't appeal to younger generations.
I freakin' love Beast Wars! I'm also in the minority of people who actually enjoyed Beast Machines, too. I really love the concepts both shows have introduced into the lore. Beast Machines in particular, wasn't afraid of making their characters look more "alien", and I love how they just shapeshift instead of the mechanical transformations we're used to. Both shows felt like the next logical step in the evolution of Transformers, in my opinion.
I really like Beast Machines too. For me it's the tone, soundtrack and story. I'm not even sold the characterisations are as offbeat and nonsensical as people make out for them. I didn't take an instant dislike to it when I first saw it, it was something I'd happily watch, but I really started to appreciate it when I got it on DVD way back when.
I loved both shows, Season one of beast wars was slow story wise, but it gave time for viewers to get to know the new characters themselves and to establish themselves. Seasons 2 and 3 is where things started to take off at a faster pace plus their were fewer episodes as compared to the first season. I loved the transmetals, and when they finally showed the ark it was like coming full circle. Beast Wars was about protecting their past to preserve their present timeline. Beast Machines was about embracing their future. I know it did not have the same commercial success as Beast Wars and even I found the reformatted transorganic thing weird at the time vs the transmetals, but after re-watching it years later I found the plot lines, and the Easter eggs to g1 transformers quite neat. Beast machines expanded on the lore like explaining the great upgrade from autobot to maximal which makes since given how technology advances, and while the maximals didn't have the firepower of their autobot ancestors their forms were smaller and more energy conservative. Plus the key to vector sigma and the plasma energy chamber were great story elements to use in the plot. And the Oracle being an evolved Vector Sigma was quite the suprise Both Beast Wars and Beast Machines were awesome in my opinion and added to the rich lore of transformers history.
As a G1 fan from the very beginning (I was 10 in 1984), Beast Wars was amazing! Yes, like most fans, I was skeptical when the first toys hit the shelves, but once the animation started, it won me over quickly! And BW is totally the reason TF still exists and is as strong as it is today. G1 ended. G2 failed. The success of BW ensured the Transformers property would never disappear again. And since1996, it never has.
Transmetal 2 Megatron shelfwarming is probably in no small part due to him being package refreshed literally 1 wave after he first shipped, so anyone who wanted him bought the Legacy version already, only for Evolution to bring him out again except we've already got him, and of course because stores always over-order wave 1 and he's in Evolution Wave 1 he's naturally going to be everywhere. Which is a shame since I suspect the flopping of the package refresh has given them cold feet (no pun intended) on Cryotek despite it being a Best of 2022 mold and Cryotek being a sick deco a bunch of people want.
That goes partially why it's being so heavily discounted, I found it yesterday for someone in the comments at less than deluxe price, but I was finding the original release too. Not as heavily, but still here and there. A lot of the Leaders of recent years have had issues with distribution, but TM2 Megatron and Galvatron stick out, like Rodimus Prime for Commander did.
Yeah they should have waited on refreshing TM2 Megatron on released some kind of retool or repaint. Maybe Cryotek with the toy head or something? There HAS to be some alternate tooling unused for this guy since pretty much every toy nowadays has optional toolings.
I enjoyed the original Beast Wars as a child. The toys from the happy meals bring back memories. I remember being very unlucky and getting multiple copies of the same toy.
That's a bummer. I'm not even sure we got those here tbh, but they're an interesting part of history given they're the spark of change that caused the development of BW.
The Kingdom line of Beast Wars figs is what got me into collecting transformers. I grew up with Beast Wars like most kids of the 90s. I've genuinely never heard of it being hated at all except prior to it's debut.
They Need To Find Someone Who Can Give Justice To Beast Wars And Beast Machines Someone Who Can Do It Right And Make Both Of Them Good Again Bring It Back Greater Than Ever
myself as beast wars fan, i was very grateful for the kingdom line and the vintage reissues. that i can finally get this figures in my hands that I never got 25 years ago. just a shame that the reissues were a flop.
I'm in the same boat. I could never get K-9 as a kid, or Tigatron. K-9 I saw once as a kid and I'm not even sure Tigatron was distributed here. Or Blackarachnia for that matter. Wish they reissued her over Retrax.
If I had to give a reason it's 3 things 1.cg animation is super dated 2. Hasbro infinitely recycling g1 for every generation makes those characters more familiar 3. Beast machines did massive damage to the characters.
3 definitely fed into 2. 3 is the reason why Armada happened and Armada was in turn part of bringing back G1. It's just amazing that nothing ever really recovered.
I think everyone behind the scenes had a hand in screwing over BM. For me, the saddest part is that if the Vehicons are ever returned too, show accuracy takes precedent and the toys are way, way better. Deluxe Jetstorm in particular is an amazing design.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder tbh I think the show designs of Vechicons are great and not gonna lie, I much prefer all of those five dudes (I know that Strika is woman but you got it) over one literal dude (I'm talking about Steve) that's just... There. Tbh, the toys designs for me are worse then the show ones. They're just very blocky (Ironic for Tankor in the show), while in the show they looked way cooler. From Maximals designs I only liked Rattrap and only Cheetor's and Blackarachnia beast modes.
Beast Wars is kind of ugly outside of the Transmetals, but its the design choice. They are supposed to look a little unhinged and feral because of the whole half organic deal. Guys like Dinobot and Inferno are pretty psychotic at times, so the crazy aesthetic works. Theres a lot of "pretty" designs, Primal, Black Arachnia, Silverbolt, and Air Razor are all symmetrical and clean. I like the look, it definitely gives BW its own vibe. Now Beast Machines, and especially the Maximals, are butt ugly when they were supposed to look like neat, sleek robo animals.
I was an adult collector by the time Beast Wars was finishing up, and I can tell you that I accepted animal based toys because because there simply wasn't a better option. Beast Wars also elevated the series when it came to telling a story and having unique, complex characters which helped it's watchability. But the whole time I was hoping for a return to machines. Transmetal was interesting and beast machines were... a thing.. but the whole time I was hoping for real G1 style conversions to machines. I was thrilled when the unicron trilogy started but man at first those toys weren't great either, especially the chonky pants/shirt combiner gimmick they had. The follow ups were better, and Omega Optimus is one of my favorites. But still. Things didn't really get great until the combiner wars. Kids who grew up with those toys had it good.
Transformers beast wars was awesome. My only complaint was that instead of calling himself Optimus primal, he should have been called onyx Prime or onyx primal. Let Optimus be Optimus Prime
I honestly feel the vintage beast wars line would had done a lot better if besides leader primal and Megatron they had added figures that where hard to get back then or really expensive nowadays, like maybe the combiners or heck maybe introduce some of the beast wars II and neo exclusive characters to give fans a chance at having the original toya from japan without having to pay an arm or a leg to get one
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I wish we could had gotten modern takes on the beast wars combiners, maybe they'll appear one as a Hasbro pulse store exclusive and not a crowd funding exclusive
The kingdom beast wars characters seemed pretty popular here with a few exceptions. Namely Blackarachnia, Waspinator, and the walmart exclusive repaints (sandstorm buzzsaw and the gray cheetor who's name i don't remember). I think Blackarachnia was the whole female character thing, or she could have been over produced (shame since besides the chest tab breaking she's a great figure), and Waspinator sat since our walmart seemed to order a ton of that wave around xmas time (tons of Tracks as well months after they got them in). The repaints I'm guessing sat since they were a line of redecos and were released around the same time as the speedia 500 set which were more repaints (except Cosmos which I only saw once and picked him up). Optimus Primal may have sat awhile as well, with Dinobot being nearly impossible to find, and Inferno as well. Tigatron was a bit of a shelfwarmer, and Rhinox was so-so (maybe on the shelves for about a month). I did notice the Rise of the Beasts figures are still here on shelves, as well as studio series versions of the characters. Seem to be shelf warming here along with the Earthspark figures similar to how the Cyberverse line did here. We still have SS deluxe Airrazor and SS leader Primal on clearance when I checked this week. Not really a draw for me since none of my favorite BW characters were in Rise of the Beasts, and I still haven't watched it. On the other hand, we still have a few Sludge's, Armada Megatron's, Blitzwings, and Dreadwing's on clearance here (coronation Starscream is finally gone!), while only ever seeing 2 Snarls on the shelf (one of which I bought lol). I think our biggest problem is the store not evenly ordering the waves as they're released. We had tons of the Tracks wave for months while never even seeing Slammer or Pipes, same with Legacy wave 1, never got wave 2, tons of wave 3 deluxes, then nothing until Legacy Evolution wave 4 (later got in some of the earlier wave leader class figures). Could have something to do with desired characters being short packed, so once the popular ones are gone, the others crowd the shelves and delay the order for new product, thus missing entire waves. Our Target is a bit better, finding Bombburst, Rumble, and BW Megatron, but never Inferno, Tarantulas, or Tigerhawk. Target did kind of get Dinobot in, but it was the toy deco version, never the Kingdom version.
From what I've seen, Beast Wars figures in Kingdom thru Legacy have sold reasonably well - not as well as the 'hard G1' stuff, but that seems true for nearly every character toy based outside of G1 (the first 3-4 years of G1 at that). I will agree that BW (toys and media) has an uphill battle to attract new fans, as it looks quite different from either the movies or G1 (and the majority of animated shows whose looks were heavily informed by G1), and the CG of its TV show looks extremely dated to potential new fans. Still hoping for some new toys of Beast Machines Vehicons either way.
To be fair, those of us elder Cybertronians who came up on the comics, cartoon and original movie were not excited when Beast Wars (Beasties in Canada!) was announced. I didn’t live the toys I’d seen, (Minimus Prime and the Baboom were the first ones I saw 😂) and I didn’t think transforming animals were going to make for a good show.
I can't say that I agree with your statement in this vid. I, personally, had a hell of a time finding most of the kingdom beasts. There were quite a few I had to order (and I'm still missing scorponok and terrorsaur as of posting this). The ones I see warming shelves the most are the bayformers and other live action forms, and the newer earthspark figures. As far as I can tell in my area W.F.C. and Leagcy figures along with studio 86 fly off shelves, but this could be to low stock numbers on shelves (idk).
I wouldn't be a Transformers fan if it wasn't for Beast Wars. I still have a few original Beast Wars figures in my collection, especially the original Optimal Optimus. Beast Wars' Dinobot is one of my all time favorite characters. I recently rewatched Beast Machines and I gotta say it's not as bad as I remember. Still not fond of it though. I actually want more Beast Wars toys. My only problem is the few we got in Legacy were characters I either didn't care for or felt that their original figures were better than the Legacy ones (Silverbolt for example). One of the few figures I did want, Transmetal 2 Megatron, simply did not appear in any stores near me so I missed out on my chance to get him. Didn't see a single reissue 90s figure near me either. I can't support Hasbro putting out Beast Wars figures if I can't find the figures I want.
The better figures from the legacy line are the Beast Wars figures, and Beast Wars saved the Franchise, the only thing we all disliked (design wise) was Beast machines, despite the good story from the show. Maybe the bad sales from Beast machines Made the dumb Hasbro executives believe people don't like Beast Wars.
My first (kinda) exposure to Transformers was the Beast Wars show so when I see this title I have to click. (kinda): I had a VHS of the G1 Transformers movie, but the intro scene was too overstimulating for my 4 year old ass so I paused and quit until years later.
Yeah, that first 40 or so minutes of the original film is doing a ton of leg work introducing new characters and a new setup while also getting rid of the old.
Beast Wars was good, but it became non-canon in season 3 with how Mainframe handled the Autobot matrix of Leadership, it's not supposed to hold a spark, but a sphere that contains a piece of Primus and the accumulated wisdom of all the Autobot leaders who came before Optimus and Rodimus.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I think the issue with Beast Wars at retail is definitely that it has les/no appeal to the CASUALS and parents. And this is very much self inflicted by Hasbro because they pushed G1 a lot when the 2000s got big on '80s nostalgia. The show hasn't aired on tv for a long time and wouldn't appeal to newcomer because old=bad (despite how the Sunbow cartoon is in itself a shitshow that aged as badly). What I mean by that is casual mom and pops and kids probably don't 'get' what part of the Transformers brand and its history this represent compared to yet another generic block primary color robot. Its also possible the Beast Wars hardcore fans, being older fans more established in the fanbase, simply went and bought their figures online as preorders from places like BBTS rather than risk having to deal with sporadic and messy retailers. Because that's what I did.
yeah everyone hated beast wars. 20 years ago. beast machines may have poisoned the well, but beast wars remained well liked. Every time a poll is held and people have the option for a beast wars character, they take it. Dinobot made it into the hall of fame, primal won the prime wars, etc etc Unrelenting G1 pandering over the last two decades(!!!) may have even played a part in the modern willingness to accept beast wars, just because it's different.
BW remained well liked among the fandom, but general audiences and kids coming in are a different kettle of fish. Unicron Trilogy kids were not receptive at the time and no successive generation has really clamored for anything bar vehicles. I think it's pretty telling that Tarn, a comic character, sells out fast on merit of the character design, while the characters actually from a cartoon don't experience the same sales velocity. Though I think there is something insanely stupid about releasing the JP BW characters and expecting them to sell.
Honestly, Beast Wars is my personal favourite. Sure, Animated and Prime are better, but they built on the foundation Beast Wars laid by being the first truly great Transformers show. Too bad that the Transformers fandom at large has become a shitshow...
I dunno man, I think BW is way better than Prime. BM too. I could just never take to Prime. Now against Animated, that's really a tough one, especially as Animated has the exact same pacing issues with a long S1 Beast Wars does. Hmm. I mean I like BW more, but whether I think it's actually better from a standpoint of what it's doing rather than what it means to me, I'd need to think about that.
I'm not saying that beast wars hate is unheard of, but from my experience, I'd always felt beast wars hate is minority opinion. I'm not as crazy as I used to be, but in my teens, I was pretty down bad in the TF online community, and anybody who watched it adored it. Some G1 holdouts who never gave it a chance would throw some hate around, but the general concensus was that it was beloved. In my opinion, any die-hard fan would have a really hard time finding a tf show before or after pound for pound as good as beast wars.
For me, I like the show. The characters are great. But I do not like the design philosophy AT ALL. I like the big anime robots of late JG1 and the UT. Beast Wars is as far from that style as you can get. The show while being good, has not had the same staying power that others have had for me personally. Stuff like Armada, I’ve only loved more and more with time. Mostly after watching the JP sub. BW I’ve just lost interest in over time. Its setting doesn’t pull me in the same way it did when I was a kid. Nothing but respect for it, but it’s just not for me. I do love Beast Wars Neo, and I’m glad it’s getting toys.
Never felt all that good with Beast Wars. The show always looked hideous and unearving to me, especially Rhinox. I felt like I didn't like the concept all that much either, very much "Truk not Monky" mentality. Then WFC happened and they updated the beast designs making their beast modes more realistic and more detail on their bot modes and I gotta say I have slowly come around to them. Beast Primal and Beast Megatron from Kingdom are particular favourites of mine now.
The show came out in a time we're CGI was a thing and it wasn't good during that time alot of shows had that same problem and all kingdom did was updated the designs with modern technology they can literally re-do the show but I doubt they would
They don't. Beast Wars is actually one of the most popular Transformers series of all time. Literally the only people who hate it are geewhinners who literally hate anything that isn't G1 and they're a relatively tiny fraction of the fandom.
your point is flawed. Just because the toys don't sell the same amount as G1 doesn't mean people hate it, same applies to the bayverse, just because it made a lot of money doesn't mean they are good movies Besides you can't say people hate it when there's a ton of third party BW toys, when the masterpiece line is near to complete the maximal team, when the kingdom toys got a rerelease in the original BW colours, when we got magmatron and lio convoy in the mainline, characters from that obscure sequels. To wrap it up, no, people don't hate beast wars
@@blacksoldier430Yeah, I'm starting to think he's one of those fans that love the bayfilms especially with that geewhinners comments they tend to hate everything but the bayfilms from what I've heard they say

Trukk not Munky is a 1996 meme though :P Generations is cutting Beasts next year, we have the listings. It also slowed down to a trickle while Kingdom was still going on and compared to G1, where some really obscure characters get retail toys, the most obscure BW went is Tasmania Kid. They don't do non-show characters and they won't even touch Transmetals because vac metal, but won't experiment with alternatives like they did TM2 either. Likewise, the MP releases are not what I'd call regular releases and seems to suffer a similar fate. There are three years where the only product is 1 redeco, now random Rhinox.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Beast Wars pretty much did most of the season 1 cast and a portion of seasn 2 that wasn't new forms of season 1 characters (although we did get Optimal Optimus in PotP and a Transmetal 2 Megatron and Tigerhawk in Legacy). But, sure buddy keep saying Beast Wars is 'irrelevant' because its in second place to GEEWUN. The other entries in the franchise which aren't live action only get a smattering of figures here and there when Hasbro feels like doing something different while Beast Wars got most of its cast done. Like dude: we got most of the show's entire cast done in Generations. That's still A LOT compared to, say, Armada/Energon/Cybertron/Animated/Prime. We Beast Wars fans basically already got what we wanted, its not a show with a big cast. Hell we even got a smatterin of Japanese Beast Wars which NOBODY expected because these shows never aired outside of Japan. Yeah there's less Beast Wars coming up, sure. Because most of the stuff is already done, again barring Transmetals. I'm okay with that. Its not a show with a huge cast, man.
Is it though? Does the sales velocity of the product reflect that assertion? That's the thing. The online fanbase can claim to love it, we can support it, I did, but are we numerous enough to keep it a thing they should keep doing? I don't think so and no one else seems to be buying.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder not counting the repop vintage BW figures that they over printed, how many actual BW charters sold poorly? also Silverbolt was 2 per case when he should have been 1. Also where are you getting your data?
I don't think the Vintage lines have ever been over produced, just not as desirable as anyone would think. The G1 reissues have never moved super fast either, but you can notice it shrinking over time before clearance, then clearance gets the rest. Silverbolt was 2 a case? It's super hard to find down here, very limited numbers. Purely observations via going all over my state, checking out toy hunts from other countries and paying attention to what people say.
From the UK here and there's nothing but Beast Wars love! The show is the best (sorry Animated! You're close!) and the toys are mainly just fun! I grew up with G1 and G2 toys mainly. But even those lines had robots that turned into animals so I just don't get it! I will add however that, at the time of the toys, I'd grown past them and was too busy on my SNES waiting for the N64 and PlayStation. Side note: G2 Megatron is my favourite toy of all time and Megs should never be a gun any more 😂 sorry G1 fans but it was dumb then and even more stupid now 😂😂😂
Um, what? Who says they hate Beast Wars? Every fan I know and I know a lot love Beast Wars. Where is this coming from? If its the new Rise of the Beast movie, taht was trash. It does nothing for BW. BW has excellent characters and story. I can flip that on and just enjoy.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Well I did switch it on originally but then went and read the comments. . . . I disagree with you on some points. Distrubution in America is still huge factor on why some things move or don't. Its so bad, I just preorder all my stuff online. Legacy Tarantuluas never showed up originally in my area but around Christmas he was part of Walmart two-pack. I've never seen Transmetal 2 Megatron or Megmatron on shelf. There isn't much turn over in stores. Or just stuff no one really wants or cares about. I do agree about G1. Its Hasbro's biggest seller. I hear from others happy about seeing Armada and others but its mostly G1 being released.
Beast wars toys didn't sell well because MOST of the toys were just cheap crap created for a quick cash grab for the company . Look at the original black arachnid figure , it was just tarantulas with a head swap & looked horrible when compared to the cartoon character . No one want to spend money on that piece of sh😮t .
You know, I always thought you were full of BS. But now, I know you are. Hating on Ironhide, Starscream, and now claiming nobody likes Beast Wars anymore.
The G1 had a series called the Pretenders, with trans organic shells that serves like a drone and a part of but also separate the robot. The Beast wars was in the future of the G1. The organic was now common to all transformers, and is an upgrade as they can do both vehicular or beast. However since beast wars was a time traveling ship blasted to the earth past. Only animals were present. If G1 was awaken during that time period, they won't have any alt mode at all. I understood the concept of shell forming which is a better or improved pretender tech. Also if you would argue that the maximals are too small to be vehicles if vehicles are available. They are not. They are downsized for energy conservation very similar to G1 Micromasters, who can transform into regular sized vehicles in lore. (But of course impossible for toys) The Maximals or the renegade Predacons are just slightly larger than Micromasters. That if ever they are on a world with vehicles and animals. They have an option to alt either vehicles and beasts with no problem. How can that be not an upgrade?
So because I get a lot of the same comments, I'm just going to pin a comment to field a lot of them at once.
- The title is purposely attention grabbing, that's part of the RUclips game, whether you like it or not. The news pulls the same stunt. "Hate" is stronger than "Why Does No One Care About BW Anymore?"
- A lot of people need to keep in mind that Armada brought in a lot of new fans, as did the 2007 film, the latter of which also brought in a lot of lapsed fans.
It’s not more popular than the original series, stop. And I say this as someone who loves BW.
I wish it was as popular as you’re claiming but it just isn’t man. The figure sales show it clear as day
Beast Wars is my jam. And this fella is outside of is mind.
Video: Why does everyone hate Beast Wars?
Comments: Who hates Beast Wars?
Nuff said.
Store shelves: Years old BW product.
Beast wars undeniably has the best writing out of any of the transformer shows
Not just Transformers, all kids media.
Beast Wars is the GOAT in terms of, not only transformers writting, but writting in general. By the way, Hello perspective.
@AngelMartinez-tx5ll I absolutely agree. I've said as much in my Top 10 Theme Songs video.
Beast Wars walked so that Transformers could get back up running again, it hasn't stopped since and proved to be an amazing brand.
I completely agree
I really like Beast Machines too. For me it's the tone, soundtrack and story. I'm not even sold the characterisations are as offbeat and nonsensical as people make out for them.
I didn't take an instant dislike to it when I first saw it, it was something I'd happily watch, but I really started to appreciate it when I got it on DVD way back when.
WOW! I like Beast Machines too. I recognize why it offput people but I enjoy it for what it is.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder YES, the soundtrack!! Did you know that they released the soundtrack for Beast Machines here on RUclips?
@@SlashTheWeasel Nice to know I'm not alone! Botanica still needs a figure though ;w;
I couldn't say it better myself. Pretty much exactly my take on the two series. :D
Heh, that old guard I mentioned at the beginning. :D
I was legit, devastated when they killed off Dinobot. Actual tears.
Then they brought him back.
A lot of people were. It's an iconic episode for a reason. ;_;
The Kingdom line of Beast Wars figs is what got me into collecting transformers. I grew up with Beast Wars like most kids of the 90s. I've genuinely never heard of it being hated at all except prior to it's debut.
I'm from New Zealand, and I have no issue with Beast Wars. They added a fresh take on Transformers, and revitalised the franchise.
How do they sell over your side?
@@SGD_ToysDownUnderblackarachnia wasn't available in Europe either and had to buy her on ebay USA for fucking €73 (69$).😭
Beast wars became my favorite series I wish we got more beast wars themed stuff I even thought beast machines had interesting ideas
If I had to give a reason it's 3 things
1.cg animation is super dated
2. Hasbro infinitely recycling g1 for every generation makes those characters more familiar
3. Beast machines did massive damage to the characters.
3 definitely fed into 2. 3 is the reason why Armada happened and Armada was in turn part of bringing back G1. It's just amazing that nothing ever really recovered.
@SGD_ToysDownUnder the worst part is beast machines could have been great I see what they were attempting but didn't stick the landing.
I think everyone behind the scenes had a hand in screwing over BM. For me, the saddest part is that if the Vehicons are ever returned too, show accuracy takes precedent and the toys are way, way better. Deluxe Jetstorm in particular is an amazing design.
@SGD_ToysDownUnder I liked the vehicons designs but the maximuls not so much. The see-through plastic was phenomenal touch, though.
I think in some ways TM2 gets over the ideas of BM better than BM as it is both S1 modes being blended into both the alt and robot modes.
Beast machines was the hated one
Maybe then, but I don't think BW has resonated with successive generations.
The original plan was for it to be the G1 characters and set in present day. Cheetor's prototype was even called Prowl.
Magnaboss needs it desperately, but I'd hate to think what it'd go for today. Plus a lot of this was dictated by what they had available and ROI.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I wish we could had gotten modern takes on the beast wars combiners, maybe they'll appear one as a Hasbro pulse store exclusive and not a crowd funding exclusive
@@Heroduothecomedian HasLabs sounds probable.
Hate is a strong word. I was just too old to have gotten into em in the 90s and always thought they were pretty lame…
Definitely a millennial part of the brand.
G1 Transformers is like a pepperoni pizza while beast wars is like a Hawaiian pizza! And I happen to love both! 😅😅
lol! Hawaiian gets a bad rap on the internet, but I'm a fan of it too.
What Target store is selling T2 Megatron at half price?
What? Beast was probably the best written Transformer series.
Where do you live? TM2 Megatron, the current one, may not have chrome, but like you I missed the original and I absolutely adore the new one.

G1 Continuity shouldn't be taken too seriously, man. Trust me you don't want to go down this rabbit hole.
Who is this "Everyone"? Tell him to go away. Beast Wars is great!
People not buying the toys.
Because that's what I did.
... the hell are you on about? Beast Wars is one of the absolute best Transformers ever created and most everyone agrees on that.
Cartoon? Sure. Toy shelves say a different story and you know what they say.
We hate Beast MACHINES, but I agree it had its moments.
I don't Hate Beast Wars...
Transformers Animated or IDW.. now... that is a whole other topic.
yeah everyone hated beast wars.
20 years ago. beast machines may have poisoned the well, but beast wars remained well liked. Every time a poll is held and people have the option for a beast wars character, they take it. Dinobot made it into the hall of fame, primal won the prime wars, etc etc
Unrelenting G1 pandering over the last two decades(!!!) may have even played a part in the modern willingness to accept beast wars, just because it's different.
In my opinion, any die-hard fan would have a really hard time finding a tf show before or after pound for pound as good as beast wars.
i want them to update Beast Wars Magnaboss
@@havokan45 I think Haslabs would be the place for it unfortunately. I love that guy though.
The show came out in a time we're CGI was a thing and it wasn't good during that time alot of shows had that same problem and all kingdom did was updated the designs with modern technology they can literally re-do the show but I doubt they would
15:10 - Earthspark*
Heh, even in my script I call it Earthrise by mistake.
They don't. Beast Wars is actually one of the most popular Transformers series of all time. Literally the only people who hate it are geewhinners who literally hate anything that isn't G1 and they're a relatively tiny fraction of the fandom.
Are they a tiny fraction if the BW product doesn't have acceptable sales velocity? Or maybe it's before their time and they couldn't care less...
your point is flawed. Just because the toys don't sell the same amount as G1 doesn't mean people hate it, same applies to the bayverse, just because it made a lot of money doesn't mean they are good movies
Besides you can't say people hate it when there's a ton of third party BW toys, when the masterpiece line is near to complete the maximal team, when the kingdom toys got a rerelease in the original BW colours, when we got magmatron and lio convoy in the mainline, characters from that obscure sequels.

Trukk not Munky is a 1996 meme though :P
Generations is cutting Beasts next year, we have the listings.
I think you mean beast machines.
LOL, BW is one of the most popular lines, this sounds like a G1 snob take.

You got it backwards my man. BW then sold well, till Pokemon came out anyway. BW today doesn't move.
Who?
You know, I always thought you were full of BS. But now, I know you are. Hating on Ironhide, Starscream, and now claiming nobody likes Beast Wars anymore.
Oh boy, come back soon for a video I know you won't watch but the thumbnail and title will blow your mind!
This video is Cringe
I hate beast wars. Robots changing into animals is a major step down from vehicles
They had many transformers that change into animals in G1.
@@jonathanwerrell3897You literally got Ravage, Buzzsaw, Lazorbeak, Ratbat, The Dinobots, Predacons, Sky Lynx,
Typicon etc.
@jonathanwerrell3897 maybe he just dislikes realistic animals and considers robotic animals to be vehicles? I dunno.
@robotx9285 g1 animals alt modes still had the scifi robotic features to then. Plus they could combine as well
The G1 had a series called the Pretenders, with trans organic shells that serves like a drone and a part of but also separate the robot.
