My favorite thing about tagima in relation to fender isn't just the tone being good or the guitars being more affordable, i like that they offer a feel that doesn't try to copy fender's
I dig the headstock shape on the Tagima - finally somebody got it right. Sure I'm used to the Fender shaped headstock, but the Tagima is more aesthetically pleasing to me, not that it's the most important thing, but looks matter! I fall in love with guitars based on their feel, tone, and looks, in that order, but the looks often hook me into trying them. As with a beautiful woman (or man if you're so inclined), their looks are what attract us, then their feel when we get close, finally their sound when we play them. Nothing like a guitar or woman screaming in ecstasy.................>!!
I would like to have a Fender, here in Brazil an American Stratocaster costs about 7,000 Reais, it is very expensive. Luckily we have national brands like Tagima that allow us to have a quality eletric guitar. Great video friend, hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷🤝🇺🇸
@@StayHomeEatGreat Well, 1 year later.... The T530 is not the best option. If price is the same, I would take the Yamanha Pacifica, or Ibanez AZES. But things change when we talk about Tagima T805. It is comparable to the Fender Player model (mexican Fender). I really recommend the T805. Worth it a lot for the price! It's a great guitar. And if you make a few upgrades you'll have a pro guitar for sure. One you can grabe and go on stage.
Yes! I just bought a 635 and besides the tuners not being the vintage model shown in tagima's website i am very impressed, this guitar is playing smooth and it holds tuning unbelievably well, even using the whammy bar! the original pickups are also nice, i changed to some fender custom shop pickups i had laying around while waiting for another project and the sound is amazing. When i took it apart i found the wire for the bridge pickup was almost falling off, not well soldered at all... but i think this kinds of things can happen with any guitar, i heard of custom shop fender with similar issues out of the shop. For me this is the best guitar you can get in Brasil for the price. I paid 970 reais for mine.
I just bought one yesterday, t635, maple neck, vintage pick ups with the name seize tagima. Its from the late 90s or early 00' according to the previous owner. And it's hand made. The quality is unbelievable. Sound and tone... amazing! I also have tw61 Woodstock series, I love it too.
Ok, so it's like comparing a Chevy to a Cadillac but I think the Tagima held up pretty well. I agree with PJ that the neck pickup sounds really good on the Tagima. For the price the Tagima is good value. As I mentioned before I'd like to see a comparison between an Affinity Strat and the Tagima which is more in the price range than the Fender obviously. Great video. Thanks guys enjoyed it!
Considering that strat cost more than five times as much the Chevy to Cadillac comparison might be putting it lightly! Tagima is making good stuff. I would be interested in comparing it to an Affinity Strat too. I wouldn't take any bets that one... Thanks for watching! -Beard

This Tagima did not blow the American deluxe strat out of the water but it was a very nice guitar for the money. We would love to try a Brazilian made Tagima someday. We do like to talk, thanks for noticing.
PJ and the Beard The one I got for less than $300 is mint . I love a good fender but these folks are making a very quality guitar. The fender I have is a Mexican strat . Just say the Tagima has been more user friendly that’s all
@@richardbloxom3020 This was a Tagima purchased new in the states for around $100 on sale I believe. Unbelievable really for that price. I am keeping it though, it is a great guitar!
PJ and the Beard I’m not arguing with ya. Just saying that the one I got was exceptional . I love the sound and I got the rosewood fretboard. It really does play better than my Fender .
That was a great match! Considering the TG-530 is an absolute entry level guitar, marketed towards students, I thought it held up pretty nicely against the mighty Fender. Of course you guys take hundreds of requests every video, but if I may ask one more thing, try out one of the better Tagima S-type guitars! Like the T-805 or the Stella models... Or even the basic T-635 (like, to Tagima, the 635 compares to the 530 the same way Squier Classic Vibe goes against the Affinity series). Maybe one of those could have higher chances taking on top tier guitars!
We would love to try out one of their higher end guitars. I will have to reach out them again. I don't think I got a response last time. We have a few local shops that carry the woodstock series. Maybe they will get one in we can try out soon. Thanks for the comment!
@@bmcgoo6027 It was not demeaning AT ALL. Trust me, I played several Tagimas and own some. That's just how they're marketed. The TG-530 is a low-cost, entry level aimed towards students and beginers. The T-635 is better constructed, but still reasonably cheap, kind of falls into the "intermediate" guitars. The T-805 is on the higher-end of the Tagima spectrum, better constructed, premium quality and a bit more expensive (but still cheaper than many other brands nonetheless). I'm not saying, by any means, th TG530 is bad. It's just that it would make more sense to compare it to a Squier Bullet, or Affinity, and let the T635 take on the Classic Vibe series.
nice comparison tagima TG-530 is really, really cheap. It costs more or less than 120 dol try comparing with tagima T805, T805 fishman or tagima stella. It would be great!!
I have a tele tagima and a bullet squire tele...i like both but I lean towards the tagima..i like the neck on the tagima.it's a little wider and thicker...
G sounding like J... And we have a definitive explanation about the guitar's tone (lol). I know you dig it. By the way, Tagima is a 'japanese' name, in a 'brazilian' guitar made in 'China'. What about the price? Well...
I've played sauiers and never really liked them. Tagima make a really, really nice instrument for really cheap. Set it up nicely, change the nut out maybe adjust pick up heights and you can fool any strat player.
For what the Tagima TG-530 sells for in the USA, I think a Harley Benton or a Squier is a better choice. Better hardware, and electronics on the HB's and Squiers. I will say the neck and body on the Tagima 530's are nice though.
Harley Benton's fretboard radius is atrocious. 350mm (13.78") on virtually everything really sucks. Then you have to pay $70 for the guitar to make it to the USA. HBs look nice, but the fretboard radius is a deal breaker. Squier Bullets are cheap, the Affinity is better, there is another level and then the Classic Vibe... which runs about twice as much as the Tagima in this video.
So.. not really a comparable choice😂 That’s pretty sad that a higher end Fender would compare to a low end guitar.. Wouldn’t a Fender middle of the road Squire be more close to the Tagima? I love your channel and I am very interested in the Tagima line.. Take care. God bless. I look forward to more videos🤘🏻
We did this video when we were first starting the channel, so we went with what we had. You are correct though, probably a middle of the road Squier would be a much better choice. In fact, we just got a Squier Jazzmaster in to compare with the Tagima Woodstock Jazzmaster we have. That video should be out soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
For sure PJ🤘🏻 My problem is I am not sure what Tagima I want, I have watched so many videos on Tagima guitars from the 500, 530, The Grace 700 (which I really like) The T-55 Tele to the Jazz Master and the 635 ( which I also like) I was going to get just a 530🤔 Just not sure? But again thank you for doing the Tagima videos it showed me you don’t always have to spend the bank to get a nice guitar🤘🏻 Maybe you could do a video that compares the 500, 530, and the 635?? God bless🤗
The Fender sounded better to me- more of the Strat jangle. There's a purple Tagima TW-500 strat for $150 near me, which seems to be a good deal. I dislike the Tagima logo though.

I think it’s a little unfair to compare it to a American strat, you guys should’ve compared it to a Mexican Strat. I think I’ll buy the Tagima and have the extra $1,000 I would’ve spent on an American Strat, upgrade the pickups and trem and be ready to go.
We mention how it was an unfair comparison I think. Totally agree with you on that. Unfortunately that was what was available. I think you have a great plan. We borrowed this Tagima but I love the TW-61 jazzmaster style Tagima I have.
I had a mim & I was not much of a player at that time but later I wound with a tagima530 china made & it is so much more comfortable to play and to me its a better guitar and a lot cheaper.

@@Bullittbl Absolutely! I with you, I have had to question some of my preconceived notions about gear snobbery quite a bit lately. My Tagima Jazzmaster is just a killer guitar for the $220 I paid for it. Unbelievable really.
You guys have some NICE GUITARS too!
the tagima costs 500 reais in Brazil
its like 120 dolars
Some people say that a Tagima could be conpared with a Fender MIM. I am interested in buying the TG540 ( Hambucker in the bridge )
I didn’t get to spend as much time with the strat type Tagima but I would say the Woodstock jazzmaster is have is up there with a MIM.
I have the TG540, and they are awesome!
cara o som dessa Tagima tem o som característico de strato. agrada bastante vale muito apena pelo custo benefício
What guitar pedal did you use?
When we are playing together we were using:
Beard - Lovepedal Bonetender - Barber Electronics Direct Drive - Donner Yellow Fall - Hot Rod Deluxe
PJ - TC Electronics Echo Brain - Peavey Classic 30 on the second channel
The rest is clean...
I'm about to pickup a sunburst one of these tomorrow can't wait
Congrats! Enjoy!
Tenho uma tagima t635 2003,
Headstck padrão fender, nut de metal e captação malagoli original.
Top.
I didn't realize Tagima has been around that long. That sounds like a nice guitar.
@@PJandtheBeard thanks for answering. here in Brazil tagima is very dear for having a great sound at an affordable cost many yesrs.
Fender sounds far superior but I’d like to hear the premium tagima like others suggested
Me too! We are still hoping to get our hands on one someday.
I think these guys just like to hear their self talk !! I have a Tagima . I blows my Fender outta the water !!!
This Tagima did not blow the American deluxe strat out of the water but it was a very nice guitar for the money. We would love to try a Brazilian made Tagima someday. We do like to talk, thanks for noticing.
PJ and the Beard
The one I got for less than $300 is mint .
The biggest area of need for me was the pickups, most notably once drive was added. I have a TW-61 Jazzmaster style Tagima that I purchased. My plan was to make a video with it and flip it. I am keeping it though, it is a great guitar!
PJ and the Beard I’m not arguing with ya. Just saying that the one I got was exceptional . I love the sound and I got the rosewood fretboard. It really does play better than my Fender .
Can these be purchased on amazon
I see the tagima Woodstock strats posted on amazon.
"Entry level" - "Marketed towards students"? Why? Just because of the price? Try playing the Tagima - you'll take back your demeaning comment.
I like my Tagima Tw66 bass as good or better the the Squier CV basses.
In this case you should compare this Fender guitar with a Tagima Stella made in Brazil. Then we would have a fairer comparison.
We hope to get our hands on a made in Brazil someday!
Do they have the same body shape? 😅
nice comparison
tagima TG-530 is really, really cheap. It costs more or less than 120 dol
try comparing with tagima T805, T805 fishman or tagima stella. It would be great!!
We would really love to try out some of the higher end Tagima's. Appreciate the comment!
yup... I think I still have the 120 price tag on the top tuner key.
I thought it was a tagima T805, which is the best!
We are really hoping to try one of their Brazilian made guitars someday!
@@PJandtheBeard I'll be watching haha Great job!
The pickups are voiced very different. I think I might would prefer the Tagima fatness.
it reads "tajeema"
I have a tele tagima and a bullet squire tele...i like both but I lean towards the tagima..i like the neck on the tagima.it's a little wider and thicker...
They are nice guitars. I like the neck on our Jazzmaster style Tagima.
G sounding like J... And we have a definitive explanation about the guitar's tone (lol). I know you dig it.
By the way, Tagima is a 'japanese' name, in a 'brazilian' guitar made in 'China'. What about the price? Well...
Its the rider not the horse in this case. Great guitars absolutely.
You’re too kind. Thanks
@@PJandtheBeard cheers from Chile guys. Best winds for you both 🎸
It would be great if you compare a USA standard/performer strat with a Tagima Made in Brazil with better hardware and construction.
We would love too. Haven’t been able to get our hands on a made in Brazil tagima.
Tagima is awesome! I sell them in my shop. Super nice strats, tele's, basses, acoustics too. Lots for around $300 range.
They are great for the price range. Do you carry any of the USA stuff? We would love to do one of those at some point.
@@PJandtheBeard I can order them. None in my shop right now. Thanks
You shpuld really get the made im brazil tagima t635 and compare it. Your most popular video is about the tagima give it a try. Great video
Thanks. We hope to get our hands on one someday. Your right though, one of first videos and still the most popular.
you can read it as "tadjima" or ta-jee-mah
So.. not really a comparable choice😂 That’s pretty sad that a higher end Fender would compare to a low end guitar..
I dislike the Tagima logo though.
nice ... i have the tagima jet blues deluxe i love it... started a facebook group to promote tagima....great vid
I will have to look the facebook group up. Thanks for letting us know!
Just picked up a t900. Such an amazing guitar
put the fender electronics on the tagima....profit!
Is that Made in Brazil o China??
Brazilian brand, already made in Brazil, today they are made in China.
@@victtorio.h5 - High end Tagimas are made in Brazil, but low end Tagimas, like this 530, are made in China.
A minha é tagima t635 2003. Hand made Brazil feita pelo seizi .
Corpo marupa braço Marfim caps malagoli de fábrica..
Tagima Stella também é muito boa...
Cheaper doesn’t matter if you like the way it plays!
Fret level and nut change and shielding is alot more than stock.
Still probably not fair going up against an American deluxe.
@@PJandtheBeard no but still much better than off the shelf tagima
@@TripsView no doubt. We initially did the Woodstock Jazzmaster guitar and it came to us in great shape right out of the box. This guitar belongs to a friend who had already done some work on it. Beggars can't be choosers if you know what I mean. This video was shot really early in the life of the channel. We were doing a lot more begging back then!
@@PJandtheBeard my local shot sells mostly tagima as their house brand. They’re nice little units
Is there a reason that you mentioned that "the necks feel different"... and then you didn't say what you meant?
Considering these are difficult to find, it would be nice if you could actually explain what you meant. That way, a person could make an informed decision before buying it online.
THINK... and then DESCRIBE.
Chance Miller will do. Sorry we missed that detail. We do this for fun but try to be informative. Hard to please everyone though. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
If you aren't buying a Fender American Strat or Tele get a Tagima or a Jet or something that delivers more for your money than a Player series.
how you play the giters affects greatly how they sound.
Agreed, some players can make anything sound great.
Tagima is amazing
Agreed, still hoping to check out some more someday!
Not bad at all for what it is of a guitar.
The made-in-Brazil series are comparable to American Fenders. They have excellent fit and finish and much better components across the board. And they're STILL cheap as hell in comparison.
We definitely hope to try one someday!
Tajeema
Tageema
Júlio Salotti thanks! You rock
Tagima T635 handmade Brazil is the best strato word
We will get to try one someday!
crisp10/10 fender! tagima 7/10
7/10 on a Woodstock.. that's impressive!
The name I believe is Japanese :) they sound's like "tajeema".
you two are using different pick
Different fingers too! :)
Tagima is from Brazil, but it is japanese name. You won't disrespect us by saying it wrong, but might disrespect another country. lol
Thanks! I guess we don't want to disrespect anyone... :)
@@PJandtheBeard i'm pretty sure you didn't! Great video, and great channel. Congrats!
ArturTadaiesky thanks! Appreciate it
I can hear more twang on the Fender.
Pretty significant difference in the pickups. Noticed it the most when some drive was added. Still, the Tagima is a surprising good guitar overall!
It would be better ask for a japanese how to pronounce the name, since Mr.Tagima is japanense descendant. XD
Someone else mentioned something about that. The more you know! Thanks
Guy on the left plays with his body guy on right plays with his head
Hmmm... is that good or bad
I honestly don't hear enough difference to spend that much more money
There is a lot of gear out there I feel that way about!
@@PJandtheBeard . Definitely man, I've got an epiphone les paul standard with the seymour duncan pearly gates humbuckers and I'd take it any day over my gibson standard. It stays in tune better too.
Ta geee mah lol!
Strat guitar must be Fender ever!!
I was really hoping the tagima would sound better, but there is really no comparison. The Fender sounds a hundred times better.
Having said that...I’ve just acquired a Tagima TW55 and I’m very impressed. Really nice playing guitar. I’m upgrading the pick ups but the playability of the guitar is fantastic.
It seems the guy plays tagima guitar doesn't do the palm muting so it's sound terrible. Please review fairly and be neutral thanks.
Appreciate the comment. We are both different players. We both took turns playing it for that reason. We try and be fair and neutral. Even pointed out that it was a bit of an unfair comparison with an American deluxe strat. If I remember correctly we had good things to say about it too. So far, we are fans of the Tagima stuff.
Nothing sounds like a Strat..
The Tagima sounds better to me
The tagima stuff is great. Not sure I liked it better than the fender American deluxe, but admittedly that is an unfair match up.
Give tagima a real playee

We played them clean for the comparison through the whole video. It was a lovepedal bonetender fuzz pedal at the end so....
Jesus the dude on the left left is driving me crazy slapping that 90s american strat with his wedding ring 10 times in a row. 🤢
The dude on the left is not Jesus... understandable mistake though. Probably the ring on his right hand too so not his wedding ring. The problem though is noted and he will be appropriately chastised.
The Fender sounds empty.
I have two strats and think that one probably sounds the best. My wife hates the color though so it stays at home. lol
