    I actually talked about this with my therapist. I wanted a new position so badly. I kept failing and failing. Once I finally realized that this was never going to happen I just felt this weight lifted off my shoulders and mind. I have not looked back since. I now have gotten a raise

    Funny how this works, it may be anecdotal but every time I've given up on something (genuinely) it has actually worked, unexpectedly.

    Holy shit this stuff actually works! I’ve been job searching for two months and I tried the advice in this video and I just did better on a French proficiency test for a job than I did on the same test in high school (and that’s after five years of barely practicing my French and then a week of rushing to get it together!) and I just had an amazing job interview for a different potential role! I’m going to keep practicing this!

    So true, and super helpful! A famous Victorian era occultist put it this way: "Pure Will, unassuaged of purpose and delivered from the lust of results, is in every way perfect." Aleister Crowley.

    Hey Michelle, this video could not have4 come at a better time. I am a few months away from finishing my PhD, and I am so desperate on finishing that it's like I get to a stage of "What's the point - Ill never get it done".

    In the past months I didn‘t click with your content as much anymore, but came back to the channel every few weeks. Absolute habit after following you for years and years. Haha.
    Anyway, this video will help my current situation with the not at all cloudy goal of „happiness“ immensely!
    I know why I still follow this channel around like a puppy: You‘re ability of breaking down complex and deep stuff, the clean and pretty design (I love the line art pictures!) and your overall positive persona. Thank you, Michelle!

    would you be able to talk about how to navigate the abundance of info available to us and taking action instead of just collecting info? i feel like i've noticed this pattern of collecting knowledge but never actually doing anything with it? would love to hear your take on this

    hmm, interesting. don't know if I can relate to it since I think the label of desperation is giving it a really shame-y vibe. i think those kinda thoughts can definitely create depression and these tips would help prevent that. which is why I'm glad you said your thoughts don't create reality, they create behaviours that create reality. I think that's the real central point: how your thoughts affect your behavior is how your thoughts affect life. i just feel like this relatable cycle of life deserves a better name, I'm not keen on calling others desperate when I explain to them that they might be in this cycle 😅

    • @muchelleb
      @muchelleb  2 месяца назад +4

      Hmm that's fair! It doesn't carry those feelings for me, but I think I've talked about it / thought about it using that term in a more playful way. I can see how it might feel shame-y to others for sure. If you find a different name for it that feels a little better do let me know!

      I guess you could say when you are in a state of longing it can give off needy energy. Theres many ways you can rephrase if you are worried about how someone will receive the information. However I find people who will be offended will be offended no matter what. There are people I have tip tooed around to say things in the nicest way possible and thats when they spaz out the most. I think its better to be direct. I find society is changing the entire English language to not offend and its getting tiresome.

    • @Rayowag
      @Rayowag 16 дней назад +1

      @@muchelleb I almost wanna say simply using "over-committing" might be a good way of explaining this dynamic well with a different word. It's a good word for wanting something so much that you set yourself up for failure.

    • @Rayowag
      @Rayowag 16 дней назад +1

      @@suras8984 as a very direct person myself I have learned enough about behavioral science to know that I need to meet someone's communication needs where they are at. That's different for everyone. What I also understand is that languages have always changed and obviously a language spread by an oppressive nation (English) will take on forms that will become "softer" over the decades as society gets more educated. The German language has certainly gotten a ton more mellow over the last decades and ditched many words 😅 Simply pointing out a word as having shameful connotation and looking for a synonym has nothing to do with changing a language and everything to do with wanting to find other ways to communicate the concept to people that I know have a low shame tolerance because I'm a social worker and work with people I can't just ditch because our communication styles don't match.

    It's weird but a lot of things you mentioned in this video kind of reminded me of Twenty One Pilots and the metaphorical story they've been telling about mental health. The cycles, being choked, imagining an antagonist to cope with difficult things... It just aligns so beautifully.

    I kind of dislike this message, in part because of the other message we are told: the universe helps those who are already helping themselves.
    So which is it?
    It paints it all as a toxic relationship with
    fate where fate is the avoidant and we are the anxious attachment.

      Can’t it be both? If you know about the Law of Attraction you know to put a lot of emotional energy into visualising your end goal, but then you have to let the feeling and energy go and accept whatever will be, will be.
