    I don't understand this notion of escalation; so, Russia invades Ukraine, and if Ukraine hits in Russia, it is an escalation? What should you do when you are at war with an invading country, use harsh language?

      This lady is out of her depth. The treaty was just a pretext to bring in NK troops. She is acting like they signed a mutual defense treaty and then Ukraine "escalated" triggering the treaty. The Stimson Center certainly isn't hiring the best and brightest, she's well educated enough that I would question her motives but to my knowledge they are not a pro-Russian think thank

      If Ukraine hits in Russia with Western weapons, then it’s an escalation between Russia and the West. It’s easy to understand once you understand that this is a proxy war between Russia and NATO.

    On February 17, 2024, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, whose country has a population of 1.4 billion, attended the Munich Security Conference in Germany and expressed China's basic position. He stated that “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations must not be unjustly violated,” that “the purposes and principles of international law and the UN Charter must be respected and observed,” and that “we expect all UN member states to act in accordance with these principles.” At first glance, these seem to be excellent answers and seem to implicitly criticize the stance of Russia and North Korea. But when it comes to its own neighborhood, it appears to contradict these words.

    • @Wiers75q
      @Wiers75q 13 часов назад +2

      I don't know how you want to compare. But it is clear that the territories that China has always insisted on claiming, including Taiwan and the South China Sea islands, have been in its territory since its founding, or even earlier from the Qing Dynasty and its successors the Republic of China, the People's Republic of China. That is, they have been in China territory for hundreds of years and have always existed in the country's constitutions or formal documents for hundreds of years, as well as in legal documents with various countries. Don't forget that even the current Ukrainian national territory and its territorial claims come from the official legal documents when the Soviet Union split, that is, the territorial claims when the country was founded.
      Therefore, China's continued insistence on its constitutional territory and willingness to fight can certainly be considered as its reasonable demand to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and should be respected.

      @@Wiers75q The ROC is Taiwan and the PRC is mainland. Each are sovereign. Each is Chinese. One does not respect the sovereignty of the other. One is a belligerent aggressor. The other is content to peacefully co-exist.

      @Wiers75q 13 часов назад +1

      @donfarang But whether it is the ROC or the PRC, all of their territorial claims for the founding of the country include the so-called mainland and Taiwan. Even the territorial constitutional declaration after Chiang Kai-shek retreated to Taiwan i.e., the territorial claims officially issued by the ROC around 1950, also include the mainland, Taiwan and the South China Sea islands. But your so-called non-affiliation between the ROC and the PRC is just a separatist claim after the current Democratic Progressive Party regime came to power on 1990, while even the Kuomintang in Taiwan does not recognize it. The Taiwan regime (ROC) has neither revised and promulgated its constitutional territory, nor changed the fact that it is still in a state of civil war with the PRC regime across the strait.
      Therefore your so-called non-affiliation is just the rhetoric of Taiwan's political parties, not a serious basis for international territorial division claims.

      @donfarang I have also said above that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are still in a state of civil war. These are foreign policy actions on a very terrible and cynical level.
      Kim is paying for weapons tech and many other things for his national interest, quite literally with the blood of his own soldiers and countrymen.
      Those soldiers are quite disposable, ultimately. Also, no one in North Korea is going to hear about what is happening.

    Here is how it goes. Ukraine captures North Korea soldiers and some North Korean soldiers just give up and surrender. Ukraine promises the North Koreans that they will be taken to South Korea to live. So, the North Koreans are said to have "died in captivity" so that Kim does not go after those soldiers for quitting the fight. Those captured North Korean soldiers have been debriefed and transferred to South Korea, but Ukraine says, "they died." Don't believe what you are being told, think for yourself.

Do you really expect mainstream media to cover stuff like that where they'd need to blur literally 90% of the video in order for it to be posted on YT or to be shown on television. You guys refuse to conduct any research and then say "Thats weird". It rly is not.
