I was able to load 500 yards of izor 100lb braid and 80 yards of 80lb mono with some room.. gonna use it for flat fall for giant blue fin in socal! Good alternative for a accurate atd!

Josh I bought a makaira 30 and out of the box it is making a clicking noise when I crank the handle in both freespool and when it's engaged. It seems to be in perfect working condition, but the clicking is definitely noticeable. Doesn't sound like the one in this video is making the same clicking noise. Any ideas?

I can´t decide which reels to get, Makaira SEa 30 or ATD 30T series. I will be trollig and live baiting from jet ski with 2 reels. What do you recommend performance and durability wise?
It doesn't have any more back play than any of the other reels. If you want to drop the money on an ATD, it is terrific, but the vast majority of guys are buying Makairas and Avets.

Where are the trolling rings? Normally you’d see em very obviously. Do you use a trolling strap to troll with this?

This would be a great reel to fish 80# fluro 4' leader to 100# spectra backing?
I got over 620yds if 130lb braid on my 30 and still have a lot of room for leader

I would give Okuma a call and see if they can troubleshoot it over the phone.

What reel do you prefer makaira 16 or avet hxw raptor? Will be on a shimano Tallus XXH for Goliath grouper, big AJ, shark, and trolling lipped plugs
The HXW is the way to go. It weighs 8 ozs less than the makaira.

Its not a 20 size ..its a 30 narrow just to clarify.
