    The way that you explained it Shawna was perfect. I didn’t know that you were supposed to bring your chair in at a 45 degree angle. None of the other examples from other videos never mentioned that at all. Bravo. Thank you so much for explaining correctly and watching out for everyone’s safety.. 👍

    Thank you for showing in detail how to do individual transfer. I am a new amputee on my left side I have had a stroke and post stroke my left was very weak and I lost the use of my left arm due contracture now recently I had a blister that got infected in hospital with bacteria and because the infection was changing rapidly and aggressively, I was forced to remove the foot above the knee so now I am trying to learn adjusting to a power wheelchair for mobility.i am working with PT,OT in rehab but I am happy that I found your video. Video.youre very good teacher thank you and may God bless you for your act of kindness Lindsay. .

    Very nice presentation. People need to realize a slide board by themselves has to have enough upper strength to do it by themselves, no matter size, weight. Watched several videos she made to get an idea of what my sister is up against from a humerus break. And what my sister might can apply. The hair dryer grip stand my daughter-in-law says that could help her also because doing things above her head her blood pressure drops too low. An Angel sharing her knowledge and I am thankful. Electric bidet I’m obsessed now. As a succulent water bottle as a hand bidet though works better than actual ones made just for a hand bidet, in my opinion, I was. WHY CANT THERE BE AN ELECTRIC? And so there is. Helpful I don’t need to see someone heavy and paralyzed to make it useful. It did show me how a sister helped her sister with a transfer board before they got a van with lift. She is an human encyclopedia of information to help those who need help with disabilities. Short term or long term. Brava.

    I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This ruclips.net/user/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.

    This was great! I am refreshing my skills for a new OT job in phys dis. Do you have any videos about the difference from these boards to using a curved or a banana board? I know there are different opinions about which direction to have that curve! also, here in the UK they don’t use gait belts which is weird for me as a California OT. Do you feel like they are very necessary in some cases? They also sometimes use small loop slide sheets to help with these transfers, but they are hard to find nowadays!

    Hi, I have CP but eventually, I do transfer myself like you do. (Despite I never used slideboards, do you think it might help me) ? Because when I’m traveling, I do struggle a
    lot or I need help when the bed is like 60cm ; this is not much but anyway, this is way higher than my wheelchair :-( How do you proceed in that case ? ♿️

    I cannot get out of bed from the side. My husband puts the chair at the foot of the bed facing the headboard. I turn around with my feet towards the headboard and slide backwards into the wheelchair. This is because I have lymphedema and my legs are heavy and it’s hard sliding out of bed from the side. Also when getting in once I have slidden onto the bed my husband or son pick my legs up and turn them onto the bed. Sometime we as handicapped people have to figure out ways that best works for us.

    It would be much better, if you were to use and, assist an actual paraplegic, allowing the paraplegic to do the transfers.

    Ok, now let’s see someone who is actually paralyzed and 200+ lbs go uphill on to the bed. I love it when they always show skinny people doing this. It’s a lot harder when your actually paralyzed and heavier.

    • @YoureWatchingBTV_Official
      @YoureWatchingBTV_Official 2 года назад +7

      Your 200 lbs example will need more triceps and core stability exercise, possibly a longer slide board to provide a longer lever since that person is going uphill.
