He's not edging. He's digging very narrow trenches to bury radials. Radials are necessary for most end-fed vertical HF antennas used in the Amature Radio world (aka...Ham Radio). The wire connects to a ground plate at the base of the antenna and extends as much as 100 feet. More radials are better than fewer (I have 36). We bury the radials so we can mow the area without destroying them. This is the perfect tool for this job, and most ham clubs have them or something similar for their members.
I'm installing some nice edging material around my house. Thought I would have to make wobbly lines with a shovel. Buying this instead.
