I was hesitant about purchasing this edger from a private party ... I watch your video then looked over the edger ... I was convinced ... purchased and used ... great edger !! Looks professional !! Thanks !!
Awesome! Glad to hear you got a deal and a great edger! I really think this is the best edger out there. I would love to review more products from them if they want to send me some! Hint!! :-) No telling how many of these edgers I have sold for them. ha ha.. BLACK+DECKER
My driveway/sidewalks haven't been edged since before I bought the house, if not ever and a local landscaper/mowing company was going to charge me $95 to edge the first tie and then $75 one a month to keep it edged. I invested in the Edge Hog and after seeing this video, feel confident it will handle my driveway and 183 feet of sidewalk and curb. Thanks!
How has the Edge Hog worked out?
Just picked one of these up for $7 at a local thrift store. I'm gonna enjoy using this little feller. Finally straight lines on my sidewalk.
Awesome find!! I hope you enjoy yours as much as we STILL do! It works great!!
@@mitchcox thanks. I'm gonna like it, I'm sure. I've just got to get the correct blade. Whoever had it before put a 4 blade curricular saw blade on it. Lol
It'll work like that, just doesn't seem safe to me.
Lucky!
I love my Edgehog, so happy I bought it! However, I am obligated to make a correction to your video, hope you don't mind. When you show that lever that switches from edging to trenching, it does not affect that front wheel at all, there is a separate knob at the front that sets it's height. What that edging/trenching lever does is raise or lower a metal guide that sits directly beside the blade. In the trimming position, down, the guide exposes just a small amount of the blade.... maybe 1/2" or 3/4" ... to the work area. When pulled up to the trenching position. the guide is raised to expose much more of the blade for deeper trenching. But yes, I love mine, could not live without it!
Thank you for watching and clearing that up. You are correct.
Great video! I am purchasing my Black and Decker Edger today. The video gave me confidence that I can do it.
Awesome!! Glad I could help you out. It really is a great edger. Hope you are enjoying it.
Ordered one the other day, I like the fact it starts every time.
T, Skipwadoo Ha. yes, as long as it is plugged in, it starts every time! Thanks for the comment!
I went out and bought this last night because of this video you made. I can't wait to use it in the morning. Looks good.
Slight correction to your trenching/edging lever explanation. The lever lowers a metal guide that slides along the edge of your concrete walk/driveway and raised it out of the way for trenching (deeper cut). Video was great otherwise! I have a question: When I use my B&D edger (same one), my hands get real sore, even with gloves, from man-handling the blade from side to side in order to get all the St Augustine grass cut off and out. Even so, it leaves sprigs and runners not cut completely, that I have to go back and pull out manually. Any idea what is wrong? Is my edger not working right? Am I not doing something correctly?
Appreciate any input on this.
Thanks,
Gailie
Having same issues
I purchased mine for $25. I was so happy. These things work great.
Когда давно в 1985 году еврей из Ленинграда меня спросил:
Разве счастье может быть в покупке чего-либо ? ...
Мне стало стыдно, что такое высокое слово я употребила для бытового смысла ...
Have one from many years ago
Love it.
Right on! Yep, mine is still working great! Still use it regularly. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
Just bought a used one today glad they work good can't wait to use it
Piero Sanchez Hey Piero! Awesome! I am sure you will love it.
Just now purchased this...using today.
Toya Walks Awesome! Let me know how you like it. Wish I was getting paid by Black and Decker. LOL!
found one at yard sale for $10,...about to check it out now.
What a great find!! 👍. I am sure you will love it for $10!! Stay safe.
Thanks for the instructional video! I purchased this online and now I'm waiting for its delivery---they said it would be here by Friday. Question: Do you mow first and then edge or do you edge first and then mow? Thanks.
***** I usually mow first then edge. That way I don't get any grass clippings down in the nice edge. Glad I could help you. Thanks for the comment!
In all respect to Mitch, I do it the other day around, always edging first. Reason, is that after you edge, there are always shards of grass left behind, and then I mow them up, and no need to sweep and pick up with a dust pan.
Great review. Putting mine together right now. Thanks for sharing.
My question is does the blade when turned on run clockwise or counterclockwise. Because both of mine run counterclockwise. Is that the way the blade runs . To me it's backwards and should run clockwise. Confused
Thanks for the video. Good review I'm buying one for sure. I can't stand that my yard runs over the driveway.
Thanks for the nice comment! This thing is awesome and makes the lawn look like it was done by a professional. I am sure you will love it. Now... I wish @BlackandDecker would send me some products to test for them. ha.. ha.. #blackanddecker
The only draw back on the edger is the handle is fixed, so if your near a wall or steps there is no adjustability.
Thanks for posting really helped make a decision on my purchase!
I just got this edger the other day...I'm glad I found your video since I think the directions they give are pretty crappy!
I'm amazed how close you are to your concrete? I was afraid to try mine (I really got this to edge around my gardens!) but now I will give it a shot!
Kathy H BTW...... Thank you!
Kathy H Thanks for the great comment. I really appreciate hearing that I helped some people out.
Kathy H You are welcome and thank you for letting me know my video was helpful.
Just got mine today. I heard when edging your supposed to go backwards? I don't know if that's true though.
I have never heard that. I always go in a forward motion. Push forward, pull back, push forward, etc.. similar to vacuuming while making my way in a forward motion. I am sure you will be happy with it. BLACK+DECKER
What depth do you recommend for the edging? I know it has 1 in 1.25 in and 1.5 in setting in the front. I just bought my edger this weekend looking forward to using it. Great Video btw. ty
Mine just stopped working!...is there an overheat switch, or a reset for the motor?
I miss my Edge Hog. Do they still sell them?
I do not know but I STILL love mine after all these years. Works great!!
Looks like they still sell them. amzn.to/3v3JBgV
@@mitchcox oh yeah!
I'm a newbie to homeownership. I need an edger, but I'm confused on the extension cord types. Should I get the 14/3 or the 16/3? Thanks for the review. This is the edger I want and is instock at Home Depot, too!
Kisa the smaller the first number the thicker the cord. so the 16/3 would be a thinner cord. I am using a 16/3 cord for edging my driveway. I think it would depend on how far you need to go from the outlet. I think this should work for you. amzn.to/1Gk3Sxi
Kisa I use a 16/3 100 foot extension with this edger, as well as weedeater, etc. It works fine.
Thanks for the video, Mitch! This was exactly what I was looking for. Luckily I was able to pick one of these up secondhand for just $40! =^)
Awesome deal! Thanks for letting me know my video helped you out. Always nice to hear.
Nice work Mitch. Nice lawn too. Just ordered one of these from CPO (Amazon) after reading your review there. Thanks for the info pimp! Be breezy!.........and throw some Milorganite on that lawn to fill it in thick. 8o)
Thanks! It is a new lawn so two months prior to this video it was all dirt. It still needs a little work. I have a few thin spots that I am trying to fill in. I will look into that Milorganite. Thanks for the tip! How is that edger working out for you?
mitch cox...The edger is pretty damn awesome! Here is a picture of the edge and some pic of my lawn. Keep up the good work man.

Just bought this item at Goodwill for $10.Have yet to try it.
MadWeiner Awesome find! Hope it works well for you!
mitch cox Thanks Mitch.I've since tried it and it works really well.
See, I told you so. LOL.
mitch cox QUESTION... I have 1/3 acre total in the city... a squared but 3 sided lot... can I use this to edge the street side? I don't have curbs or sidewalks.
thanks and thanks
Does this work well for curbing? It will have to roll on the grass side. And, how much time are you all getting off one battery? And.. how often does the blade need sharpening? I have an acre lot with lots of curbing.
+Shelley Rampton Hey Shelley, This is a corded version so you will need a long extension cord. it would do fine on the curb. You would want to roll it on the curb not in the grass. I have used this for 4+ years and have never sharpened or replaced the blade.

Thank you for replying. I appreciate it! :)
Thank you very much for your input! :)
Can this be used for stump removal?
I wouldn’t recommend it for that.
@@mitchcox thank you
Mr. COX,
Great video and nice job with the edging! How often do you 'mow' your lawn though? LOL! (just teasing in a friendly way)
All the Best,
Ms. BOX :)
Hey Ms. Box, I assume you are saying I need to mow it more. Ha.. you are probably right. However, when this video was filmed, our lawn was very new. (I seeded it in July) So in July it was just dirt. I was watering it daily to get it to grow. This was filmed in August. Since it was a new lawn, I was letting it grow longer than usual so it could get a strong root system. It came in pretty well. Now I try to mow it once a week during the summer or as needed. Thanks for watching. - Mr. Cox
The "button" doesn't push the front wheel down or up....if you put on "edge" it makes a metal guard go down on the bottom to give you an "edge" guide!!
Thank you for the video. I am considering this one.
I can't assemble it because the cord internal cable is too long. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Not sure what you are referring to. There is no cord aside from the electrical cord to plug it in.
This was great to watch, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the nice comment! This thing is awesome and makes the lawn look like it was done by a professional.
Indeed it do.
You can find these cheaper on Craigslist or facebook, and those work fine as well
I still use mine today. Many years after posting this video. Still works great. Still recommend it if you happen to find one cheap, don’t pass it up.
Thanks for review I am in the market.
Erin Provost I still stand by this product. Best edger I have ever used. Still works great today.
I bought it and I've used it once and really like it. I can tell that the first edge of the season will take some time, but it always does. I was able to push this with one hand on an established edge.
BOUGHT ONE AT BARGAIN HUNT here in Louisville for $38 new 😀
+Rico Lewis What a steal!
mitch cox USED first time tonight... 1.25 depth... wish I could rate it 6 outta 5 stars on Amazon... phenomenal product...
mitch cox I JUST BOUGHT 4 REPLACEMENT BLADES AT BEN'S BARGAIN BARN in Southern Indiana (Louisville area) for $3 each! they had 4...got em all!
Dude you talk like Les Claypool from Primus lol! But I'm sold on this, thank you.
paisteuser06 I don't know who that is or if that is a complement or not. But glad I helped you in some way. LOL. the edger really is great! I still use it and it works just as good now as it did when I posted this video.
Take you time to wind up cord put back in the shed buy winder. Buy battery edger got buy extra battery could cost 100 dollars for extra bat. Got battery string trimmer use for around bushes and trees line no good for edging use this jb007 heavy duty blade well made $9.00.
My edger quit on me no power !
Check to see if the blade is jammed up. Remove it and clean it real good. Hopefully you can get it working again. Let me know. Take care.
Жаль, что вам запрещено выращивать на придомовой территории овощи и фрукты... Тогда только газон и остаётся стричь 🎉

what happenes if the blade hits the concrete
It sparks, so you have to be really careful, Brian. It is not much of a big deal if it hits the pavement, but I would not keep doing it, you don't know what it will do.
hmmmmm......
*EDGY*
Sugar Free gummy bears
Nice try sugar free gummy bears. I've read reviews on you.
Under powered hunk of crap plastic mess like a Corvette.
John Rambo Works great for my usage and apparently most of the other reviews as well. Did you try using it?
mitch cox Good comeback.
John Rambo Don't drag corvette's into this! lol
My Corvette doesn't edge well either. :^(
My question is does the blade when turned on run clockwise or counterclockwise. Because both of mine run counterclockwise. Is that the way the blade runs . To me it's backwards and should run clockwise. Confused
