Always pack whiskey or bourbon for early AT and the rainy season. Some times you just have to stand there in the pouring rain with the trail turned into a creek and take a few swigs.

That sounds like better plan than push on and get hurt or stranded.

Best comment..."Start slow; go slower." I say, saunter and savor. Savor and saunter. So what, if time slips away. You enjoyed the journey while speed fanatics remember most the injuries, pain, fatigue and cramps.

Already learning not to read too much into forum advice. It's all very imposing. Loved the video it was really well edited, but also felt raw and natural. Really nice job. I'm starting April 7th/8th!

Listen to your body is wise. I thought that I had a little sprained muscles on the bottom of my foot when my foot jammed into some rocks 4 miles after I stayed in Duncannon. I slowed down and hiked only 6 miles the next day. I thought that was enough to make it ok.
But, I started to take the pain medicine that I brought with me. As progressed I kept taking more until one of the metatarsals in my foot fractured.

#1 Learn how to make 🔥 in pouring rain. It can be done. Once you and your gear are soaked you have three options, keep core temperature up by continual movement, get hypothermia, or get to a shelter and build a large fire.

Do what works best for you. Everyone has there own path to the top of the mountain. "SOBO, NOBO Or HOBO". Same same just a different reality.

Expect the suck. Most of the time, you'll be in rain, snow, and ungodly heat/humidity. Hunger like you've never imagined. Go as light as light as you can, learn the tricks (hit me up), eat well (again hit me up), and enjoy the day.

Pickel juice does not prevent cramps. I tested this method on a hot day on my bike and it didn't work.

Pickles to help cramps ? That's all sodium and the worst thing a person can eat. You are better off taking a salt tab and more water.
