The port of Los Angeles and adjacent Port of Long Beach account for almost 350 billion dollars worth of cargo (nearly 200 million tons) and account for almost 25% of all goods entering the United States. If you buy something that is made in China, there is a very good chance it came through here. Fun fact about the Vincent Thomas Bridge - it is the only suspension bridge supported entirely on piles, which means they stuck the support beams into the ground like you or I would do with a stick on wet sand. It's also been in Gone in 60 Seconds, Inception, and To Live and Die in LA, among others. Thanks Micah for the night view!

I'd do a 180 and climb, revealing the city lights of Los Angeles in an endless carpet. It never failed to get oohs & ahhs - absolutely spectacular. Thanks again for memories, Micah.

This video is incredibly interesting to me as it snapshots exactly what Los Angeles looked like while we were trying to save her just over the hill in Sherman Oaks. I really enjoy your flyover videos. Before you were born there was this tawdry but fabulous TV show called Dynasty. The building used for the Denver Carrington building exterior shots is the Bank of America building you flew past toward the end of downtown, just to the left. I always recognize it due to its shape and the fact that, while it sits on a normal rectangular lot, the building is set at an angle to the others nearby. Great video!

While working on cross country time I would fly to Bracket at night for a milk shake and time my return to arrive over Disneyland at 9:30 to have the fireworks shooting up towards me. Hi Micah. Another great video! What was your altitude when flying over the downtown towers? I think you said you were at 1400 feet? The top of the spire on the Wilshire Grand (1100 feet), as well as the top of the US Bank building (1018 feet) make them the tallest, and third tallest, buildings in California. They are both in a class of buildings known as 'supertalls' which are buildings over 300 meters high (984 feet) as per the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. You were probably 300 feet above them but it looks like you were so close. It would be really cool if you could do another flyover of the towers in the future when they are occupied (meaning lots of office lights are on) and at twilight. Most buildings look best at twilight IMO, especially glass towers. Another thing a lot of your viewers may not know, is that for around 40 years it was part of the Los Angeles building code that any building over 75 feet must have an emergency helicopter landing pad. I think this was removed from the building code around 2014. If you see these, they will have a large number in the middle of a circle on the helipad which tells the pilot what the weight limit is (in 1000 pounds) for that landing facility, so a 12 would mean 12,000 pound limit. Two of my most favourite things: flying and skyscrapers, yet I am afraid of heights 😢

I just recently discovered your you tube channel. Back in 1980 I purchased a portable VHS VCR and camera. The Recorder weighed 21 lbs and the camera weighed 13 lbs.I was invited to video tape some friends as they went hot air ballooning. I was happy shooting the whole set-up inflating of balloons. Then following them in the chase van. When they invited me to get in the balloon with my video equipment I was a little hesitant. But I did it and became instantly enamored with the feeling of looking down at the earth from 300' up. I was in video shooting heaven. I went up several times with them. Loving the video tape I shot. Next I duc taped my camera to the landing strut of a friends cessna. We did touch and go landings at several L.A. area airports. Then watched the video tape with fascination. Seeing your helicopter videos has brought back all those cool memories. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.

Wow! That was awesome! Everything looks so different at night. It was so pretty with all the lights - thank you for another fun flight! I was a bit nervous when you flew out over ocean to see the stranded cargo ships, in another video. I don't like deep water and was glad when you flew back over land! But seriously, these videos are so cool! Thank so much for doing them! Would love to see Catalina from the air if you are able to! Stay well!
