Lancaster Township Vehicle Accident with Fire January 31, 2021

A car traveling at a high rate of speed left the roadway and crashed into a tree and caught on fire around 2:30 AM on Sunday January 31, 2021. The accident occurred on New Danville Pike in Lancaster Township PA, approximately 1/2 mile south of the Lancaster City line. A witness saw the three occupants of the vehicle extricate themselves and they had already left the scene prior to the arrival of the police, fire, and EMS services. The vehicle was totally involved in fire, and also brought down a large tree which blocked the roadway. The fire was extinguished, crews checked the interior of the car to make certain there were no other occupants, a tow truck removed the car from the woods and PennDot assisted with removing the fallen tree from the road. Crews secured the scene at 4:15 AM. Manheim Township Police are investigating the crash.
