Julie HUBBARD (Tring). I moved to Armley as a small child in 1961. Back then and up to the 1980’s Armley town street was a lovely place to shop. Everything was tidy , no rubbish thrown on the paths and no eyesores. Antisocial behaviour wasn’t a word we’d heard of. Armley people have always been lovely and I’m proud to be from here, and I still have family here, however, it’s sad to see such a decline. I moved away many years ago, watching this is heartbreaking. I remember when crack, was something you found in a pavement, and when smack, was something you got at the back of your legs......how things have changed. JH

Actually the whole project was based on views of West Leeds residents and the "middle class voice" you speak of is actually someone who has lived and worked in the area for nearly 10 years but just happened to have grown up in Birmingham. The community hub is now open and we've had nothing but positive feedback from local residents. Thanks for your comment though!

been away a few years and the town has changed as i sit in my bros barbers all i hear is how bad things have got it didnt used to be like that people had hope they smiled they said hello in the streets now everyone just seems hopeless its sad cos there used to be a community spirit that seems to be fading people stilll used to struggle but there was a hope a optimism that seems to have gone hope for a return to better days

I totally agree with you Patricia. Lady on the video said that nobody got any money no more. That happens when you're on dole. Get a job, work and stop crying. Been working all my life and have never complained.
I have seen people throwing rubish on floor, how can they mess in the enviroment they live in. That's disgusting. And stupid.
