Shane is the ultimate glass cannon for this show. He comes up with some of the best bits, but he's one of the easiest to crack.

Tommy really deserves to be considered the funniest person in Smosh at this point. Rarely ever does a bit of his miss.
First time I saw him was which Smash Bro. would he smash and my god, I died and came back in that video.
I think Shayne is great to watch laugh, and has more "memorable character bits". Lots of peaks, but some fall flat or are very "inside" (end up laughing at their reaction rather than the joke).
Tommy is more consistent in having funny bits overall. Especially when he keeps building a narrative for an entire episode (different from just the same character with new jokes).
I find I don't have to rely on the reaction of the people laughing to find it funny... It's usually just a straight up funny joke.

As someone who has worked as a scare actor, Shanes bit is 100% accurate
As much as I love Ian, his tntl bits can be kinda hit or miss. However, his Target/JFK bit was the wonderful dark humor I love from him.

Could Try Not to Laugh: Hard Mode be combined with Silent Library? You have to make the person in the hot seat make noise, without making noise yourself. And can lose or gain multiple points in a round, so you might risk making noise if you think it'll get a big reaction from the person in the hot seat.
IDK, idea probably needs work, but there's something there.

I have a idea for a try not to laugh!
Story Time: For each round there will be a story for it. The person on the hot seat will give the idea or plot of the story. The other players will have to make the person on the hot seat laugh while being a character in the story while still being in the story. How the story goes is determent by who is first. The second person to go will have to make a scene that is connected to the person that was before them in some way. The last person will be the one to end the story which will end that round. Each round has to have a different story to make it more difficult. One person cannot use the same prop more then 3 times. By having these restrictions on the players the players have to play attention to the person before them and will have to think about what props they will use. I hope you like my idea!! Love you guys!!!😁😁

Most of their jokes about Bennigan's just come down to the reference making no sense, since their scenario usually paints it as some sort of Chuck E. Cheese-style kids restaurant with costumed waitstaff.

It's been slow and steady, but the "Adorable Kimmy" has gotten so good at not laughing. Like you can see her getting better in each episode. But seeing her start off back to back with eternal champions, Shayne and Damien, and not laugh just shows how good she got

Wasn't Tommy like originally an editor before being on-stage or something like that? He has such great energy, really surprised he wasn't just originally hired just to be an actor/personality for Smosh.

Yup. I believe Tommy's main titles are still Social Media Manager and Social editor for Smosh.
They like to shout out Tommy's 'Meme Lord' shenanigans whenever the team makes Smosh memes. He always comes through with a banger.
I think he was (or is) an editor for smosh pit and also ran (or runs) the smosh social media pages. He probably wasn't hired as an on camera person because he more than likely didn't audition to be one. Instead, he probably interviewed to be an editor, they later saw he was naturally funny, they asked if he'd be interested in trying on camera work, he accepts and does well, and now he's a regular part of the smosh cast.
I started watching recently. It's hard to believe that Tommy wasn't always part of the crew, he's so hilarious

Here is an idea for a TNTL: each person trying to make the hot seat laugh, has to do the same bit but they can switch it up. The first person to try essentially sets the bit and then it evolves from there. At least one thing from the previous person needs to be included in the next attempt,
I really needed the laughs this morning - been having those empty nest blues (Only child went away to college) Anyway, my go-to place to make me feel better is Smosh - especially Try Not To Laugh-) Here is my idea for Try Not To Laugh - Each performer on stage cannot speak but must act out the hilarious words spoken by someone offstage. I love when people offstage start throwing out funny comments and narrating the story taking place on stage.
