Hi Guys! Are you going to do a playthrough of this game? Your playthrough are the best! You don’t only teach but have a lot of fun and it shows, it is contagious! Really looking forward to back this game. Looks awesone
For me, a play through would help understand how everything ties together. Honestly, this game looks convoluted and the iconography is way too dense: so many things on each card... is it only me that feels like that?
@@SteveLEKORodrigue I agree, Steve. I’m a fan of heavy games, but I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it all comes together once you get into it. A playthrough would certainly help.
There is a lot to grasp here. My initial reaction to this was that it was too fiddly for me to be immersed in a thematic experience (as opposed to the fiddly aspects of Kanban EV was immersive to the point that I might as well go to work instead of playing a game). However, the art and graphic design of Voidfall really draws me in so I ended up repeating segments of this review a number of times for clarifications. The more I watched, the more I appreciated the game mechanics presented as well as the work the developers put into the graphic design and iconography. Voidfall is probably too heavy for the people I game with but, if nothing else, the overall game design and presentation may lead me to back it in much the same way as one collects works of art. Great review of what seems to be a very involved and interesting game.
Your getting very sophisticated with your ongoing growth. Very swish close up camera set up in this promo. This is the Dune of this year's games one feels. This is a great effort!
Omg yes SO excited for voidfall!! Was interested in backing this one but your breakdown definitely sealed the deal-it’s interesting to see the juggling mechanic and how prioritizing focus cards/upkeep each round plays a huge role. loved the breakdown friends! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
As a new owner of the game this was an excellent rundown of the rules, exactly how I teach games to my friends. Not sure why other channels make it sound so complicated and boring, this was right up my alley.
Excellent and concise overview! Very impressive! I love the close up shots of the set up and individual cards. It helps a ton. I followed the designer diaries on BGG, but found it hard to grasp how the different aspects of the game blended together. You cleared that fog for me. It is still a hurdle to learn the iconography though. Ian O'Toole's graphic design is good, but busy. Anachrony is similar in that regard - a lot of icons to decipher and get familiar with.
It looks like a Vidal Lacerda game if he designed anything that allowed for more than one action per turn :p Excellent overview! A lot to cover in a short time.
@@BeforeYouPlay Mabye the reason is the graphic designer of Voidfall is Ian O’Toole who makes graphics and illustrations for the most of Lacerda’s games.
I am hoping you do a playthrough - even if it's just a round or two. I am finding it difficult to follow how this game plays without seeing it in action.
SUPER confusing and very punishing if you fall behind, same as Anachrony. Not a fan. Fractal: Beyond the Void is launching next week, now THAT game I can get behind. I hope they do a review for that game.
Hi Anne that totally makes sense. We had quite the challenge trying to condense all the core concepts into this video. We unfortunately won't be doing a playthrough (at least with the prototype) since we had to pass it along to someone else after we filmed our video. :-(
@@BeforeYouPlay Totally understood. I own and love all of Mindclash's other games, but this one more than the others seems to be difficult for me to grasp the basic structure of the game up front. I'd still love to see a playthrough from you in the future!
I love Mindclash and this was an instant back for me. Having a solo mode was also great as now I can fully learn the game before trying to teach others..lol Great job with the overview.
They are such a great company! You’re right that having a solo mode will make playing with other that much smoother as you already know the pieces and lingo. This game has a good amount of new lingo.
I am getting some Gaia Project vibes from this game with all the different ways of scoring, but it looks like this is more interactive with the board and with other players.
Great preview from one of my favorite duos, you rose to the challenge! I do like the way you support each other and your style of videos but you may want to limit the short confirmations when one person is talking. I find it a little distracting and it doesn't really add much, then again I'm easily distracted lol
I agree. I love their videos, but Naveen's confirmations are always mildly distracting to me too. I assume it's him feeling anxious or wanting to be useful. ha. (no offense, Naveen). It'd be nice maybe if he increased his role in demonstrating the visual aspects as she provides the explanation.
Hi Len, we had a prototype copy of the game so the quality of the wheels were not very good. The publisher is fully aware of the prototype quality and I'd bet money that the final product will be quality like their other titles. Hope that helps!
Great preview! How does it play with 2 players? I mostly play just with my wife. Any thoughts comparing Voidfall to Eclipse for 2 players? I’ve been looking at getting Eclipse.
Hi there, we only got to play a full 3-Player game when prepping for this video. Unfortunatley neither of us have tried Eclipse to it's hard to compare the two titles. :-( There is a co-op mode, however we weren't provided with the materials in the prototype to test it all out.
We only played Voidfall once in prep for this video so it's hard to say (plus we weren't provided with the co-op scenario), but On Mars and Gaia Project are 2 of our favorite games of all time.
Hi both, What a great presentation, dynamic and exciting as you seems to be fully convince by this game. I'm just having a question for the 2 player setup, I think you mentioned it but as my mother tongue is not English, I prefer to ask you confirmation. I've understood that for 2 players and I assume that it is the same for all configurations, the number of tiles with not be increased during the game at all? Or is there any action via cards allowing players to add tiles and so increase the space I would say? Thanks a lot for your confirmation on this
Black is my least favourite colour in board games and being a space fan, I feel I always have to compromise when I lay the usual black tiles on the table (Gaia Project, Xia, Twilight Imperium). But then you can leave it to Ian O'Toole to make a space game look like proper eye candy! First Black Angel, now this! He's such a legend, his games are the gems of my collection.
I wonder how you would rate this game compaired to others you really like? It looks quite complex and seems a bit disjointed in some places and not as smooth as others games. What are your thoughts on that and if this is better than Anachrony?
We unfortunately didn't get to play the game more than once so it's hard to rate the game. We discussed the game after our play and learned from our mistakes. Hard to compare to Anachrony (Only played once a few years ago). Monique prefers Voidfall but we haven't played with the Anachrony expansions yet.
Hi Henrique, we unfortunately won't be doing a playthrough as we had to pass our prototype along to someone else. Score is kept track on a personal handheld "influence" wheel.

Experienced boardgamers might know that the "top 100" list is a little sus, to say the least, but if you're a business and you want people to plug your games, your going to go for a top 50 over a sub-800 anyday.
Cerebria is incredible game and all, but it just doesn't work as 2-3 players, only for 4 or 6 with expansion, and it's even more complex because of confrontation so you always need to keep an eye on opponents instead of making some plan and sometimes correcting it according to their actions. Very exhausting to play even as "first play" rules (with almost zero asymmetry), and yeah, even though I enjoyed it, I'm not sure if I wanna another.
