Thanks for the video. It gave me the confidence to do the job myself. One thing he did not mention, which I had to do on my 2004 Grand Am is that at minute 5:25 he is showing the part plastic that actually attaches to the wipe blade and make it swing. He said it is a friction fit and just bolt it down. Underneath those 2 parts on the old assembly is a brass ring with ridges on that is "pressed" on with ridges in it to hold those 2 pieces in place. I pounded out the bolt to get them out of the old unit and put a socket on the brass ring and put it in a vice to press it on the new unit.

I am having a similar problem with my 2004 Cavalier. My linkage is connected to the wiper motor on the passenger side, but the driver's side is disconnected. I noticed that there is no bushing in the hole for this driver side piece of the linkage. It looks something like the scene at 04:27. Do I just need to put another bushing on this driver side piece of linkage and fit it under where the passenger side's piece of linkage is connected to the wiper motor? I don't see anything to insert the bushing into or onto. Do I need another one of those black rubber boot like things to attach to it and then insert a new bushing into the boot like how the passenger's side of linkage is connected to the wiper motor?

I just fixed this same problem today on my 04 Cavalier, total cost.... $11.00 bought Dorman part number 49449 from AutoZone ( 2 packages of 2 bushings) Had to ream out the wiper arm holes a bit bigger but it worked. Firestone wanted $325.00 to replace the wiper transmission!!! $11 is better that $325!

Wyatt, You just need the bushing if I am remembering this right. The wiper transmission is kinda crappy for the Cavaliers, not the tightest setup. I had to ream the hole larger and gently press it into place with a vice. I broke a set before getting it right. Make the hole too big and you just bought a new transmission for the wiper.

Bro, it worked. Thanks. I had an issue breaking a couple of those tabs on the outside edge. Winter time and very cold, I would suggest warming it up with a blow dryer and then tap it in the hole. Very brittle in the cold. Saved me $105 on the part only. Thanks again.

i got one for you. i just replaced this unit yesterday, and the wiper range works just fine, but the "Park position" the wipers sit real high on the windshield. When the wipers are working, they work as they should. Turn them off, and they sit at about a 30 to 40 degree angle on the glass.

you probably fitted the motor arm to the linkage with the motor in mid rotation. I always plug the motor in to reset its position before fitting to avoid this issue.

At about 4:30, you say "Probably get in here with a screwdriver or something and pop this off". Then the video cuts to after that has been done. I need to know how to do that missing part. I cannot for the life of me get those two pieces apart. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Other than that, this video is spot on. Same exact steps for a 2005 Chevy Cavalier.

I cannot get the wipers off. Any thoughts on how I can easily get these wipers off? Do you need to take the hood also? LET me know how to get these suckers off its not as easy as you did it!!

Pat Zick I think if you shut the hood then you can fold it and work it off.

+marcon jake canonoy I had the same trouble at first but then I figured out I was doing it wrong. I had to stand in front of the car with the hood open. Then it was like I was rotating the wiper blades ... pushing the left side down and pulling the right side up off the bolt.
Pulling up on the right side wasn't enough; I had to add in that rotational motion.
Not sure if that helps anyone else, but the technique worked for me.
