The cold starts are loud because ignition timing is heavily retarded with the intention of warming the cats as fast as possible. This is also an "issue" with the FA24D in the BRZ/GR86, and has been tuned out using ECUTEK in a number of cars.
My one gripe with these (I've got one) is the warm up sequence is loud, which don't get me wrong it sounds amazing, then as soon as it warms up enough it's pretty quiet. Like it really doesn't match
Took one for a drive the other day, starting it up at the dealer had us shouting at eachother just to talk over the rumble lol. These things sound great stock.

The vb does sound good stock. Good on Subaru for not pumping in fake sound through the speakers.
Got mine last year. Stock it’s too quiet (beyond cold start). The tone isn’t bad. Running a Tomei atm.

This is nothing compared to my Borla and ETS jpipe setup..
