How is Joseph Woll the future Goalie? He CAN'T stay uninjured when he's needed most. He's simply injury prone to where he can't stay in net even when he doesn't get hit by an opposing player.

Pressure is on Brad Treliving to fire Sheldon Keefe but whether Keefe stays or goes, Brendan Shanahan DEFINITELY needs to go. Should Keith Pelley, CEO of Leafs’ ownership group MLSE, ALLOW Shanny to stay, what WILL it take to send Shanny packing? A disastrous season like what happened to the Raptors by last December? Shanny will IMO keep the AM34-Marner-Nylander-Morgan Rielly-Tavares quintet together despite the massive underperformance of too many members of that quintet.

You hit the nail on the head. John seems to have a soft spot for blindly defending Rielly. Blaming Boosh for his lack of success is wild when they're 1) tied in points 2) Rielly is 1-21 quarterbacking the PP and 3) has almost triple his cap hit. If your $7.5M offensive Dman can only play well with Luke Schenn that says more about him than his D partners.

youre right. roster configuration as it is right now just doesn't work. need more depth, specifically help on D and an upgrade in net. get a forward who's not afraid of the physicality of the playoffs.
This is exactly the problem with the leafs, they think that every year they can trade for “better” players blah blah blah! The reality is teams that win the Stanley cup, mostly develop their own players, look at what Tampa, penguins etc. the bulk of their team is developed in house.

Agreed. Marner and Keefe need to go. Keep Woll, trade Marner for a star D or goalie and keep Edmundson, McCabe and Benoit because those guys were tough as nails and played great, our scoring just dried up as usual at the most crucial moments.
Good video. Critical, but classy. Just a few things - I don't think Woll is our future starter, because he is too fragile health - wise. I agree regarding Marner - the fans would make his life miserable if he stayed in Toronto. He would end up in the same situation like Andrew Raycroft, who was basically booed out of the town. The last thing is Tavares - for me he is another player they must get rid of in the off season. Buy him out if he doesn't want to wave his no - move clause - just get rid of him at any cost. He is no longer a top six forward and he has nothing to offer in the third or fourth line. I have a big respect for him, his personality, his skills and his work ethic, but you can't reverse the clock.

ROR didn't want to play I toronto and chose Nashville. Schenn signed a contract that only 1 team in the league was offering. He chose the money. Leafs didn't have a say in either case

Dude ...they played good in the last 3 games but left it too late. Actually they played alot better than i expected. But 1 playoff win in a decade is not acceptable. Please ditch Mitch because of his contract...he would have been a good 3rd or 4th line maybe...hate to see him go because he has had good years among the consistant team losses every year. Samsonov isnt the reason they lost. They all gave it a good come back try but too little too late. Shannahan gotta go along with alot of management and players . Its a tough division. The leafs have to produce in the next rebuild.

Hiring a head coach to replace Sheldon Keefe, should such an HC be hired, sure won’t be enough. Hopefully next season the Raptors will play some meaningful basketball into at least March. This past NBA season, the Raptors, in regular-season play, reached a winning percent of 50.0 after games 2, 8 and 16 but after the fourth loss during a 15-game losing streak, guaranteed a losing season at 23-42. From that game onward, the Raptors‘ record would be 2-15 to end the season at 25-57, well out of the top-10 in the Eastern Conference.

@@umphstein4629 It's not easy to qualify for a playoff spot, never mind win in the postseason. That said, the Shanaplan has been overall a disaster come playoff time, as close as the Leafs' 2024 playoff series would end up being.

Sorry I have to say this, because I highly appreciate the guy as a person AND as a player - but from a GM point of view Morgan Rielly is probably your ONE piece of value that you could use as a trade asset.
Why him first, and not Marner?
As long as 34 and 88 are in their prime, you build around them, plus you wanna sign up Knies long term, those are the givens.
You wanna rethink yourself this summer? As a franchise? Fair.
Your highly payed forwards don't score enough? Fair.
But Marner's contract will be SO hard to move. So if you START with Marner, you've already LOST your BIGGEST trade. Before even knowing the return.
There'll be no win moving Marner. No matter at which point in time. So if you start with him, you only start with an L. That's bad psychologically, and bad economically.
You instead try to improve as much as possible without that detrimental trade-off, and when you've sorted out a couple of things, THEN you're less desperate. THEN you deal with the Marner situation.
Worst case you trade him last. - At the deadline in Feb 2025. That's when teams usually overpay, and you ACTUALLY get some return...
So since Marner will be difficult to deal with this summer, you still wanna try & rethink yourself:
For the first time, in a long time, the Leafs are relatively deep on defense. Yes, it would be a heartbreaker, since Mo's been the fans' captain all along. But since the teams' ACTUAL captain will move from C to LW sooner or later... You better address your depth down the middle sooner, before it gets urgent.
No, the Cannucks won't give us JT Miller in order to replace Tyler Myers, but I think that's the market you're sorting out now: What's the best center we can get for Morgan Rielly.
Take some risk, and develop someone, I'm thinking Marco Rossi (plus some picks). Morgan is the piece of value the Leafs would probably have to give up this summer, if they're looking to make much needed improvements up front.
