I wasn't the one that made those comments however, please permit me to respond to the comments. I think the basic reasons for such comments may be: 1. Wearing an apron is just to protect your dress from getting stained during cooking. 2. Covering your hair with a scarf is to prevent falling hairs from getting into the food you are making 3. Cutting your finger nails is to prevent you from getting injured when kneading, give you a better grip of kitchen utensils and also to prevent food particles from getting stuck in your finger nails. I think these are just kitchen ethics and safety measures 😊😊😊

I really hate how people like to dampen the spirits of other people. One thing I learnt was even if you drink water, people will still complain that you're chewing too loudly. The issue is in real life, 99% of those criticising you dont have anything going on for them like you do. I cook without an apron or headcover and definitely wear long nails because I'm comfortable cooking with it. Madam please ignore them, they will still talk even if you start using an apron or headcover saying that it's not colourful enough

The truth is one, ever job/ work has ethics , cooking or being a chef has it ethics, wearing white uniform, a head cover and apron is for a reason not fashion. white to maintain hygiene, head cover to prevent hair getting into you food and apron to protect your clothes. At home we ignore all this rules becouse no one will qurred such actions but in a food factory or standard restaurant where you are paying huge amount of money for a meal ...you will definitely expect professionalism and high lever hygiene which includes clean and short nails.

Hi Ify, I have watched very many of your videos, and I must say you are an amazing cook. Well, personally not putting on a scarf or apron or not covering the hair as you make food for your family is totally fine. However, I have noticed that, if the hair is not covered, it tends to carry the aroma of the food you are cooking, imagine if it's a native soup, omo!...lol, you won't like the smell of the hair later after it has mixed with sweat .Also, depending on the hair, you might want to cover because of hair particles entering the food. So, yes, I think it's idle to cover the hair. But for nails , depends on if you can handle long nails, and you cook neatly, because of germs that can be harbored under the nails. Then for the apron, I don't think it's necessary...lol, the cloth will still be dirty regardless, except of cause you need the apron pockets!...lol

In most homes in my home country in west Africa, women dont really wear apron to cook . They will wear a house clothes to cook and change to a nice one to serve and eat with the kids and husband. That is the way a grew up. Apron was more like a decoration in the kitchen
I only use apron when I’m frying stuff and I feel like it would splatter all over my clothes or transfer the oil smell. Or if I’m cutting meat and I don’t want it to stain my clothes.
When people criticize I've learnt to just take what I feel is right in what they say and move on. Wearing a hairnet is important as hair has a way to get into food. Long nails are pretty but really not sanitary. It traps a lot of bad microorganisms. I hesitate to eat from people who prepare food with long nails. Short nails are a requirement in many places based on good food safety practices. That's my input.

I don't do any of those things either & I'm pretty sure you do the same things I do: If I spill something on my clothes, no problem, I'm putting them in the wash when I'm done anyway. I wash my hands & scrub my long, manicured nails before I start cooking & I wash & scrub them after I'm done. Hi all, I may agree it is okay because we are all culprits in these practices, but as models and professionals, we must be honest with ourselves. I see cooking with long polished nails without gloves as unhygienic because of its polymer compounds and chemicals such as acrylic polymer, methacrylate are toxic when ingested. ( homogenized with alcohol/ spirit like ethyl acetate to give it a life span and lush) When in contact with other chemicals or substance like water, hot food , steam, vapour dissolves gradually into our food and system unnoticed. . Nail polish has nitrocellulose (film forming polymer), this is dissolve in ethyl acetate or butyl acetate (spirit) too. Gel nail polish has plasticizer, methacrylate compounds and photoinitiator etc. So I'm just creating awareness as a polymer Engineer for our assimilation and caution. I would have highlighted more but you look up these chemicals and their effects. Peace and Blessings.

Hi all, I may agree it is okay because we are all culprits in these practices, but as models and professionals, we must be honest with ourselves. I see cooking with long polished nails without gloves as unhygienic because of its polymer compounds and chemicals such as acrylic polymer, methacrylate are toxic when ingested. ( homogenized with alcohol/ spirit like ethyl acetate to give it a life span and lush)
When in contact with other chemicals or substance like water, hot food , steam, vapour dissolves gradually into our food and system unnoticed. .
Nail polish has nitrocellulose (film forming polymer), this is dissolve in ethyl acetate or butyl acetate (spirit) too.
Gel nail polish has plasticizer, methacrylate compounds and photoinitiator etc.
So I'm just creating awareness as a polymer Engineer for our assimilation and caution. I would have highlighted more but you look up these chemicals and their effects.

Your nails are super amazing maa , it looks so elegant ,covering your hair is only required when you are cooking for public and your hair is not properly packed , about wearing an apron I think to avoid dirtying your cloth , this are some kitchen equities one must do while cooking for public
