Poorly executed on ALL fronts and the context only damns it further.
duuude for sure, taylor made is worse than the heart pt6 in my opinion, AI Tupac takes the beef from disrespecting Kenny to disrespecting the entire rap industry.
I thought it was great. The concept was devilish, the beat was amazing and unlike anything Drake is used to, and it did put Kendrick in a place where he had to respond. Drake putting himself 3rd in the list of goats after 2Pac and Snoop was crazy. I don't agree with his assessment, but it was a crazy psychological move of saying to Kendrick "just because you're from the west coast doesn't mean you're the next in line to be the goat". I thought his interpretation of both rappers was good, not perfect but good, especially Snoop. Pac was not done as well but that's just because Drake doesn't have Pac's delivery studied as well.
Big agree. Taylor made was a genuinely unlistenable song to me, along with being just... sad? Don't know how to explain my thoughts but AI pac and snoop just.... yeah... sad...

Rightfully so. Katy really used to put out some bangers in the past and her name recognition and status as an artist (she was one of few female artists who could actually go toe to toe with Taylor Swift, that's how huge and prevalent her music was). In order to be really disappointed in something, you gotta have a certain level of expectation for it to be as good as you'd expect it to be. That's why a lot of people including myself are NOT disappointed by V2. After hearing V1, there's no way you'd actually expect the sequel to have any measurable entertainment or quality in the album.
I think the worst thing about this album is its unnecessary length and amount of versions. Some cringy lyrics here and there, being a bit boring, especially with the long playtime but I heard way worse this year.
I agree with you, I actually love that album and see it as a masterpiece, but I've learned everyone has different taste lol I actually don't agree with his "lists" and have had what the f#$@ moments with his list 😂 but that's his opinion and I have mine depending on my life experience
Agree w this - like was the marketing for TTPD great? Meh I personally wasn't the biggest fan of it, but like - acting like Taylor Swift held a gun to her fans heads and demanded they buy the different variants is wild lol. Also I'm sorry but the asylum line keeps getting read in such bad faith, do yall not get that the song is about her relationship with the media? The asylum = the microscope lens of the media she's lived under since she was 16. It's not difficult!!
Thank you Fantano for including my comment in the video! You’re a big source of inspiration for me to write my own music reviews and explore more music! Love ya man
With Katy Perry, the fact that the album isn't very good is just a bonus for most people's hatred of her. All the other bits of controversy weigh down the album in turn. Although Woman's World does still exist, and that song and its music video missed the mark so hard it's impressive.
With the end of 2024, comes four years of endless disasters. Not in the music department either, relatively speaking. Bad music will somehow be an escape in comparison.
10:36 I feel like that applies to someone like Taylor Swift too. Yeah, the album wasn't all the great, but it feels like the album and Taylor herself got an unnecessary amount of hate, and it just seemed forced. I thought the cringe lines were on purpose, to contrast the over-the-top seriousness of the album title. I could be wrong, but I don't think she's written lines like those before.
She had never, it's definitely something new in her entire catalogue and it feels that instead of down weight the album title it might mean to reflect it, "too tortured poet that doesn't want to think about beautiful writting anymore" type of energy. But yes, I totally agree, everyone just joined the hate train because it was too normalized to see with an objective point of view until everyone collectively had no idea at all of what exactly they were hating to.
Not gonna lie, on first listen I thought the album was a bit boring but beautiful sound wise. Then I found out how much hate it gets and while i get where it's coming from, I think it was way out of proportion
people are just back on the hate train again. she'll be out of the spotlight for a little while and it'll switch back. been like this for almost 20 years lol
Yeah, It takes just one listen to TTPD title track, to notice how the "Tortured Poet" in question isn't her but her ex-lover(s) and that it's a sarcastic term but people just inmediately jumped to hating thinking she was calling herself a poet
G-Eazy’s Freak Show is an underrated kind of bad. I would love to have seen a full length review because 2 minutes in list week doesn’t do justice to one of the worst white rap albums ever released in history.
143 is overhated. Not great, but overhated. Songs like Nirvana, Wonder, Artificial are great. If it wasn't produced by Dr. Luke, people would rate it least as "mid"/"average". At least fans like it and she is still selling out arenas in minutes. Also everything that was visually presented was on point. Music Videos (maybe except for WW), Fashion, Photoshoots, and especially performances (the VMA performance was fantastic)
I stand on my belief that 2093 was Yeat's magnum opus. I was genuinely blown away with the album and it's narrative progression. Lyfestyle was such a weird departure from that, and while it has a couple good songs I go back to, it just didn't hit like 2093 did.
i respect the defense of the katy perry album and i think it’s a little funny. fantano has been a music nerd so long he’s gone from “everyone says X is great when Y is really so much better” to “everyone says X is bad when Y is really so much worse”
as the worlds biggest yeat fan i think my problem with lifestyle isn’t necessarily that it’s a regression of his sound-i actually think the production is super forward thinking and captivating on a lot of songs. i just think his current songwriting style and technique combined with this sound has totally removed the magic of his music. old yeat was amazing because of his insane, colorful, hilarious bars that really became a huge part of his character and identity. it’s like he’s trying to recapture that but his heart isn’t in it, he wrote every song in about ten minutes and didn’t touch it ever again (according to him), it just comes off as an album that could’ve been so much more than it was. i didn’t dislike it but i also think saying it’s bad because it’s a regression isn’t correct. if he sounded like 2021 yeat, had 2021 yeat lyricism, energy, and performances, i would have enjoyed it. it’s just a shell of his former self and way less boundary pushing than both 2093 and afterlyfe
3:53 I sat through and listened to PENITH earlier today to see how bad it was. I think Anthony genuinely needs a reminder how garbage that album is. Vultures 2 is bad, but PENITH is genuinely a challenging listen to get through. It's called PENITH by the way. PENITH
Hell nah guys, the SOPHIE album was the real shit of this year. Stop digging corpses from their own graves, especially our queen SOPHIE and if you just got the skeletons of the tracks
To rebuttal, her brother finished the album, not some corporation, and the intent was to show how important Sophie is. The album does feel skeletal, not in a corporation digging up graves way, but in a very personal way
to be fair to meghan trainor and the tones and i, they didn’t work with dr luke on their new albums to my knowledge. i think that has a lot to do with why katy perry’s album is getting more heat, and rightly so.
@@smurfette_blues7922 I thought the cringe lines were on purpose, to contrast the over-the-top seriousness of the album title. I could be wrong, but I don't think she's written lines like those before.
I felt the same exact way about the Mag Bay album and I’m embarrassed to say it bc of how much I love them and Mercurial World. I tried to listen to this album multiple times this year bc I thought I was crazy for not liking it and after seeing it get rave reviews I felt even crazier. Am I the only one besides this guy who thought this album was terrible? I’m a huge fan of theirs so please take it easy.
COUNTER ARGUMENT: morning after keeps me up at night and therefore makes Penith the worst album of the year. The run of the last few tracks of that album is the most jarring drop in quality in an already bad record I've ever heard.
Here’s the thing: if you made Fantano FT (fungible tokens) and actually gave out like little coins you’d get at the zoo pressing machine, that’d be iconic
Ttpd was amazing. I keep trying to get this through to people. Ttpd was for swifties. U are not a swiftie. It’s her stories in songs but like it’s 90% storytelling this time. If I wanna listen to a book I listen to ttpd.
I think people take the TTPD lyrics out of context too often. Imagine if i went into an album like Yeezus and started saying it's dogshit because of all the lyrics about fingering and fisting women
Houdini was the best song on a largely forgettable album, and you have to wonder how much of that is based on the Abracadabra sample combined with the throwbavk to Eminems most popular songs.
there are so many songs on that album better than houdini and it’s most memorable album since maybe Relapse. ditches the generic sounds of Kamikaze and MTBMB and sounds authentically eminem. if you just don’t like his sound thats another story
Fuel, Evil, Tobey, and Temporary are four songs that immediately pop into my head that are all waayyy better songs than Houdini on that album in terms of production, sound, and lrycism. These songs also do not have the repetitve nature that Houdini does, which I feel is a major flaw in that song. Maybe listen to Houdini and then listen to rest of the album (or just those songs) again because this is not true at all lol.
I just don't think anything is worse than a clown denying over ten-year evidence of being a pdf file while also admitting to being a pdf file while also claiming to feed his opponent false info all while simultaneously calling whoever gave said opponent info a clown🤷🏾♀️ (yes, I meant for this to be a run-on sentence)
Agreed with the Katie Perry record, was it bad yeah but there was categorically worse pop music released in the past year. It’s less that it’s so bad it ends up on worst of the year, but probably the most unpopular album of the year.
It is kind of awesome Fantano argued that Kanye is too big to fail in the eyes of his fans with Vultures 1 and then Vultures 2 somehow proved him wrong. It's easy to understate just how difficult going below that bar was.
I have always been and will continue to be an Eminem fan to some level, but objectively I did not get Houdini even a little. There are hits and misses on the death of slim shady, but to put out Houdini as the first single. I would have let that sit on the shelf. I know he had something else that could have replaced it. But oh well, guess I’ll have to wait until march for the next album.
I got excited when I saw vultures 2 on the thumbnail but then I realized it was not my review sadly hope my Chromekopia review will make it in the next video

The tortured poets department isn't even close to being one of the worst albums that's just silly.
@@MostPretentiousMusicNerd-ux3ln
Taylor Swift somehow managed to Funko Pop-ify an album
Swifties will pronounce the Taylor Shits they find in her toilet as a masterpiece too, so they might be biased
Bring back thatistheplan
I thought you were having a brat summer, turns out you were having a genre: sadboy spring
Thank you Fantano for including my comment in the video! You’re a big source of inspiration for me to write my own music reviews and explore more music! Love ya man
Bring back the bass intro
Nahhhh
With Katy Perry, the fact that the album isn't very good is just a bonus for most people's hatred of her. All the other bits of controversy weigh down the album in turn. Although Woman's World does still exist, and that song and its music video missed the mark so hard it's impressive.
For Katy Perry, the hate comes more from her collab with Dr. Luke than her music itself This collab totally discredited her feminist message
The collab part's true, but the album was bad sonically as well. It was like escaped from a 2016 studio!
With the end of 2024, comes four years of endless disasters. Not in the music department either, relatively speaking. Bad music will somehow be an escape in comparison.
That Popular Monster comment made me nearly PISS myself laughing. 😂
the g in fantano stands for grippy 👅
theres no g???
@@totaaalellawell done genius 👏🏻
TTPD as a title is actually pretty funny imo. Just the idea of a bureaucratic organ of people living up to romanticism ideals like that.
Cofeezilla is on to you man

It's more than Dr Luke really i think Katy Perry has genuinely become a victim of cringe culture
Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" is the worst song of the decade so far...
Would geniunely love to see an entire album of Fantano rapping.
I stand on my belief that 2093 was Yeat's magnum opus. I was genuinely blown away with the album and it's narrative progression. Lyfestyle was such a weird departure from that, and while it has a couple good songs I go back to, it just didn't hit like 2093 did.
Same bro lifesyle was sooooo disappointing. It's like if westside gunn released his worst album 6 months after pray for paris
i respect the defense of the katy perry album and i think it’s a little funny. fantano has been a music nerd so long he’s gone from “everyone says X is great when Y is really so much better” to “everyone says X is bad when Y is really so much worse”
lots of energy and nice editing with this one fantano! love it
as the worlds biggest yeat fan i think my problem with lifestyle isn’t necessarily that it’s a regression of his sound-i actually think the production is super forward thinking and captivating on a lot of songs. i just think his current songwriting style and technique combined with this sound has totally removed the magic of his music. old yeat was amazing because of his insane, colorful, hilarious bars that really became a huge part of his character and identity. it’s like he’s trying to recapture that but his heart isn’t in it, he wrote every song in about ten minutes and didn’t touch it ever again (according to him), it just comes off as an album that could’ve been so much more than it was. i didn’t dislike it but i also think saying it’s bad because it’s a regression isn’t correct. if he sounded like 2021 yeat, had 2021 yeat lyricism, energy, and performances, i would have enjoyed it. it’s just a shell of his former self and way less boundary pushing than both 2093 and afterlyfe
3:53 I sat through and listened to PENITH earlier today to see how bad it was. I think Anthony genuinely needs a reminder how garbage that album is. Vultures 2 is bad, but PENITH is genuinely a challenging listen to get through.
It's called PENITH by the way. PENITH
Fantano look like Professor X trying to explode someone's head reading these comments
The album does feel skeletal, not in a corporation digging up graves way, but in a very personal way
@@sea2thepea X's friend John Cunningham finished all of his posthumous albums and i don't see this same defense.
anthony i need a vid on whether or not i should invest in the hawk tuah crypto
he isnt gonna answer 🙄
Lets ARGUE: Fantano should bring back the Hipster Haircut from 2011
to be fair to meghan trainor and the tones and i, they didn’t work with dr luke on their new albums to my knowledge. i think that has a lot to do with why katy perry’s album is getting more heat, and rightly so.
I can't believe he didn't include Hawk Tuah Dubstep Remix.
Where’s the link to the let’s argue coin
Let’s argue: grippy is a top 25 song of this year.

i didnt mind poets department. fine passable music. was way higher on midnights than everyone else
Yeah it was mostly boring for me and then occasionally embarrassing with the handful of cringe lines.
@@smurfette_blues7922 I thought the cringe lines were on purpose, to contrast the over-the-top seriousness of the album title. I could be wrong, but I don't think she's written lines like those before.

some of her best shit is on that album, it was just too long.
Okay deadass the Peppa Pig tweet is how I am with the Sophie posthumous :(
I felt the same exact way about the Mag Bay album and I’m embarrassed to say it bc of how much I love them and Mercurial World. I tried to listen to this album multiple times this year bc I thought I was crazy for not liking it and after seeing it get rave reviews I felt even crazier. Am I the only one besides this guy who thought this album was terrible? I’m a huge fan of theirs so please take it easy.
I don't think it's terrible but as a mercurial world and mini mixes lover, this feels like their most boring album in a while
0:15 wtf is this intro 😂😂
COUNTER ARGUMENT: morning after keeps me up at night and therefore makes Penith the worst album of the year. The run of the last few tracks of that album is the most jarring drop in quality in an already bad record I've ever heard.
Just put my entire savings in Let's Argue Coin, TO THE MOON
TTPD is definitely not the worst album of the year, c'mon people!!!
TTPD named pitchfork 100 best music of 2024
Here’s the thing: if you made Fantano FT (fungible tokens) and actually gave out like little coins you’d get at the zoo pressing machine, that’d be iconic
"The epstein angle is what I expected" - Drake. Why was he expecting this if he wasn't suspect
Because kendrick is not the first one to call him a pedo?
Casually bringing up how bad the Meghan Trainor album is twice in here is hilarious
So Happy to see Kanye finally be on top of taylor in this list

I don’t get the magdalena bay hype at all. It seems like the kind of stuff I would like but Its just not clicking with me no matter what they put out

They try to make a concept album but give it no memorable characters.
The singers voice is a little too high pitched for me...
Technically telling people you want the money to be rich and they give you the money. It’s not a scam lol.
Ever since I heard Penith I was never the same person ever again...
My only complaint about your worst records list this year is that you didn't put Glass Animals on it
Glass Animals is fine...
Meghan Trainor & Tones And I are already enough to be mentioned as the worst artists of 2024...
@@xamp_exclammark agreed
Maybe listen to Houdini and then listen to rest of the album (or just those songs) again because this is not true at all lol.

i was just bored by that one in all honesty. which was a let down.
