D. Ray Smith, let me compliment you on your appreciation of these precious, rusty relics. Mostly thank you for Not calling your presentation - Barn Find, or Abandoned
Brings back lots of memories as I worked on nearly every kind of vehicle you showed, my Dad was one of the worlds great mechanic, having his first vehicle at age 11! Even though working six days a week , he always had mechanic work to do on weekends and Sunday, farming out the tear down work to me when I wasn't in school. He would always make a stop by my room as he left for work, telling me what to get in the shop and to have a transmission or motor ready to pull after supper. Great Dad!
That '53 Cadillac reminded me of trying to hitchhike from the Atlanta area heading toward SC in about the late Fall of 1968 in the very late afternoon, and our standing out in the cold for about an hour, and finally getting a ride up I-85 with 2 bank robbers with large frame, shiny .38 Special revolvers and a back seat just full of loose ammunition. The car was pristine, and looked like a Family Car that had just been liberated from a country funeral home somewhere in Alabama. The guys were great and were anxious to show us and tell us about their revolvers, the huge quantity of ammunition they had, their wads of money, and their big plans, and, to avoid attracting attention, they drove that car at about 100 mph the whole time we were with them (no car was able to pass us), which was about 50 miles further up I-85 than they had planned, because of the great tales they were telling us. Those guys were having the most fun they'd ever had and we got to hear about it, secretly wondering if they'd shoot us after we heard their story. But no, they let us off as they turned down a side road more less back toward Athens and south Georgia, and we got a ride in a Rambler with a drunk Chief Petty officer, who only asked that we get him to a bar in whatever town we were going to, and we did. Later on, I looked for but never found out anything about those bank-robbing guys having done anything bad that was really newsworthy, but whatever they may have done, they were putting it behind them as fast as that '53 Cadillac would go. P.S. That Caddy was a solid as a rock at high speeds - can't think of a modern car that rides as well as it did that fine, Georgia afternoon on I-85 heading East.
Way cool. Great blues there too. I must have become a gear-head. Loving the classics. Started researching conversion vans for cross-country camping. Did that for three years. Heading off to salvage for a Ford spare tire wench/carrier. LONG LIVE THE SALVAGE YARD! LONG LIVE THE RIGHT TO REPAIR!
Look at it another way, These rusted out cars are better to look at than the unsold cars of today sitting on airfields around the world. The old stuff was built with passion and to last a life time
Thanks for sharing Mr.D'Ray I enjoyed the ride into the past. My fav. Times as a youngster in the 60s and 70s were junkyard hopping with my father and passing that along to my kids in the 80's and 90's. Now its not so easy in 2019 to enjoy those days of wondering through those salvage yards. Everything is gold plated and not affordable....
Great comment. I have had these exact thoughts and said almost the exact words for years now. Thank God for today's Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Chargers, etc. Even though they are still mostly plastic, at least they look like they have some class and some individuality. This video almost brought tears to my eyes.
I love looking at really cool old cars with their wacky styling from decades past. It fills me with wonder looking at all these old cars (whether they're particularly desirable, or not?) It's great you took the time to record this. Like you say, a rare sight nowadays...
Thank you for what you are doing it brought back many memories. I would suggest that you walk the yard first with a note pad to identify the cars you will hi-light and anytime you see one of those old Chryslers look under the hood; some of them had the first "hemi" in them, highly collectable!
Finally ! , someone that did a video right . very enjoyable and quite educational too . great job Sir ! . I enjoyed the music and all the cars , and the narration was right on the money . Ray in Pa.
There must be a few of these old car graveyards around. For a keen eye and a few bucks, you could make some big bucks restoring some of these... Good video.
Those have to be some of my Grandpa's, and Uncles cars. All my relatives are buried at Possum Grape. My Mom just two weeks ago. Back in the early 80's she took us ( me and 8 cousins) in a jump off of Joy Mountain in a 63 Chrystler 4 door. None of us got hurt.
Thanks for sharing this trip down memory lane ...I had some of those cars when I was a young lad - Mustangs ,Nova, Chevy Impala , a bunch of Camaro's .....I didn't see any MGB's ..I had a few of them . I now own a 2010 Chevy Camaro , look's retro. Thanks again From Canada
I enjoyed that little look round, wondering what stories each car could tell, once every one was someones pride and joy! I love the Corvair pick up, never seen one before. Great vid.
Liked your video. did a nice job of narrating. Junk yards are becoming fewer and fewer. Don't let negative comments discourage you. It's not about 4 door cars, it's really about the yard nowadays and how they're disappearing from the landscape and you're recording their history thank you
Nice vidéo! I could picture some people doing a Woodstock Festival, all around these cars. Imagine all the people that died out and all the stories that took place in those vehicules. It must be spooky and yet exciting, just to walk around that salvage yard looking at these old phantom ghosts. Johnny from Montreal Canada.
the scrape prices have got the best of most the old cars around. back a 5 or 6 years ago there were still hundreds of old cars around norther michigan now they are all gone.
Love those monte carlos, hell i love them all, wish i was very wealthy id buy the yard and resore as many of them as possible, seams like a peaceful calm there VERY AWESOME VID DRAY!!!! :)
Super video! Im from Liverpool England and i love old skool american cars 40s-70s! Its amazing to think there are still so many left but sad to think that most will never end up on the road again! EU rules state in countrys like Sweden, Finland, Norway that once the car is 30 years old it is no longer deemed fit to be on the roads so many classics are crushed or just sat in storage! Thanksfully here in the UK we dont have that problem, the only problem we have over here is the weather! lol
Don: Great vid. Ever since I was a little kid (I just turned 60) I've always had this strange fascination with junk cars. I'd love to be able to walk around a junk yard like you just did. I always thought that Corvair pick-up truck was real cool -- way cooler than the van. I share your opinion about that (about '69 or '70) Ford XL convertible. Thanks for letting me stop in and sound off.
When in Missouri, be sure and check out John's Auto Salvage near Cabool, the biggest yard I've ever seen, a thousand or more vintage cars, rows of tail-finned Mopars, etc. Also check out Schollmeyer's near Jeff City, and Huxel's in Union.
Been to John's last year. He had a dope head son that sold over 1/2 of them before they got him stopped. But he still has a lot of cars. I got clutch linkage for a big 63 Buick . Have you ever seen a straight shift big body Buick before. Rare find.
This guy is really likable, but he doesn't show us enough. I'm hungry for more of this stuff. The wooden Nash wheel is called an artillery wheel, and I'm guessing it's between 1920 and 1930.
it's nice to see that these timeless cars will one day be like the cars they were decades ago. Would be a shame if they remained shells of their former glory days
Sir that was really nice to see them old cars and trucks do have the info on that junkyard so i can find out on some parts and do you know if there any 1967 chevy trucks there
Great video man ! Just bums out the grass growing underneath them . Grass and moisture can do some severe damage in time . Overall thanks for the video ! Memories of my youth from watching this video .
Great video. You just don't get places like this in England because it's too cold and wet. If those beautiful cars were stashed like that here there would be no trace after a few short years. Loved the El Cameno, my favourite Yank tank.
PartingOut is a site where these cars need to be posted as a whole and let all us car lovers request the parts off of them. People who have these cars get tired of looking, confirming & sending pictures to buyers who never follow through. Make an offer that states who, where and what along with a price that you are willing to pay and then we can help you. That is how buyers and sellers deal on PartingOut. I personally have several thousand cars and over 500 pre1980s cars that are parts cars.
It´s nice, that cars, i just love to them, here in Brazil we don´t have mucj of these cars, I ent to the USA two times this year in Vegas and I want to go to Desert Valley Autoparts if I can get a Galaxie 66 a convertible top to install in my Ford Landau 76 that was the last car that have a 302 v8 engine.chers
Hi. In this video, you looked at that 68 Ford Galaxie with the 390 in it. I have that same 68, I need a 390. Could you please tell me if I can get in touch with this person to but that engine? Also I don't even know how old this video is. Thank you.
would be nice if he had some parts for a 65 dart base, need a 13" wheel for a spare, left tail light lens on fender, and left front turn signal lens and a speedometer
Hi D-Ray. Is there away someone can a hold of where this place is at? I seen a 59 Chevy Impala that That a friend of mine that needs a few parts, and I also need some parts for my 68 Ford Galaxie. Both of us are having it hard to find any parts for either. Thank you.
I'd be interested in the 47 or 48 chevy fleetline also that 62 black impala next to that blue 65 impala.is there a number to this place if they for sale.
D. Ray Smith, let me compliment you on your appreciation of these precious, rusty relics. Mostly thank you for Not calling your presentation - Barn Find, or Abandoned
Being an 18 year old australian, i dont get to see things like this very often at all and my word, these are just..... a dream!!!

Wow I think it's amazing how the chrome on pretty much all of the cars there are intact, amazing.
so many cool cars, so many different ways to build them...this is a gear-heads dream yard...
I love how old these cars are and one thing that is still there is the glass.
the scrape prices have got the best of most the old cars around. back a 5 or 6 years ago there were still hundreds of old cars around norther michigan now they are all gone.

Very cool DRay...classic revisited.
Enjoyed your video Don.
Good stuff Buddy!! You did the same thing I did in my video. You added Old in front of the name of every car, Ya can't help it!! Great video!!☺
This guy is really likable, but he doesn't show us enough. I'm hungry for more of this stuff. The wooden Nash wheel is called an artillery wheel, and I'm guessing it's between 1920 and 1930.
I live not far from here..an unsual surprise to click on a video and to see it's just a few miles from where you live.
a trip down memory lane, thanks!
The only reason you can tell them apart is because you like them. Most people would say those old 50s cars all look the same.
it's nice to see that these timeless cars will one day be like the cars they were decades ago. Would be a shame if they remained shells of their former glory days
its not a matter of thinking, its weather you have the time and the will to put a ton of work into fixing one of these old cars.
If i was a millionaire, i will bring every single one of them back on the road ;-)
Nice vid. Thumbs up!
Sir that was really nice to see them old cars and trucks do have the info on that junkyard so i can find out on some parts and do you know if there any 1967 chevy trucks there

Yeah man that my next mission to restore me one of them!!!
Please do another video, this place is one of the best yards. But, please show some interiors, if any are left lol.
Great video. You just don't get places like this in England because it's too cold and wet. If those beautiful cars were stashed like that here there would be no trace after a few short years. Loved the El Cameno, my favourite Yank tank.

Your camera work is very good. You pan and move slowly enough that the viewer does not get vertigo. Where did you say the field is? Thanks.
Beautiful cars
Classics , music is just right !
WOW...this is one of the TOP 10 Vids from a Junkyard, nice to hear you, to comment the cars. Any of them for sale?? My dream car is there...
