Rolling Rolling, Tumbling Along

This short animation is inspired by “Korokoro Korogaru” by KikuoHana, a Japanese duo known for blending dark, introspective themes with upbeat melodies and vocals. The song’s lyrics evoke a sense of endless searching: “I’m continually tumbling, rolling and rolling until I reach the base of the slope… searching for my body, anywhere and everywhere.”
Unable to shake the imagery from my mind, I crafted an animation where a girl named Cola desperately searches for her missing head across shifting hills. Cola is a quirky, resilient traveler who moves from job to job, relying on her wits and a trusty staff to navigate varied terrains. Her design reflects her adventurous, eccentric lifestyle, embodying themes of self-discovery, with a bag of essentials and a Coke Zero habit.
