Not sure how anime fail at live action when this show exists. Then again, a lot of anime are pretty over the top unlike Alice In Borderland for the most part. I'm enjoying Season 2 so far. Surprised that this series is so underrated compared to Squid Game when its way better imo.

It’s just the unrealistic elements found in anime that don’t work irl. Every anime is unique tho. DBZ can’t work live action but maybe Sailor Moon if made like power rangers. A lot of shows are just more miss than hits
There are a few cringe and over the top moments but still an awesome show overall.
I don't think Squid game is a fair comparison when they are obviously targeting different audiences. Squid game's.game were much more simpler and more “understandable” to general audience while Alice is much more “hardcore” and more suitable to mature （intelligent－wise and emotionally ）audiences
Even tho I do like this series, I still kinda see it as a fail, mainly because the ending of season 1 deviated so hard from the manga, that i'm not sure how season 2 can have as good an ending as the manga.
And (major spoilers)
Since they start the games the way they do, i'm not sure the queen of hearts can work, like, while reading the manga, the queen of hearts game was nuts cause it could have been true, in fact, for two weeks, we couldnt know what was real and what wasn't.
But don't get me wrong this Is good, and with how season 1 ended, I would actually preffer that the series just does it's own thing in season 2, it could be good, but I still preffer the manga.

Them thinking the empty city without car crashes or anything being a budget thing is absolutely hilarious to me😂😂 I don't know why that was their first thought considering they literally had to recreate the entirety of shibuya as you literally can't close it down.
18:00 well you also should know that there is "Alice" in the title, Which means there is a main character in the story. And you should obviously know who it is just by the names of the characters. "Arisu".
Just a heads up specifically for season 1 of this show: The plain "English" subtitles (rather than the "English [CC]" ones you guys chose) are much better and accurate IMO. Idk why Netflix even has the 2 versions of English subtitles. I think the "English [CC]" ones match up with the dub and that's why they're kind of weird. So, I would recommend choosing just "English" for the rest of this season!
For season 2, though, the "English [CC]" subs are better because they express important connotations and meanings behind the dialogue much better. So, go for "English [CC]" for season 2! (weird how it's the opposite for each season🤔)
In terms of dub.. I understand for some shows but.. never for Alice in Borderland😅 Some of these characters are so peculiar in the way they speak which adds so much to their characterization, and this is completely missing in the dub. It's a quite important part of the show. Plus, Netflix's dub is just bad and distracts you from the emotional weight of key moments.

Totally agree you lose a lot with dubbed and like yous said the translations aren't the greatest form Netflix (example people who've broke down Squid Games subs and are native Korean speakers). I actually went with the non CC Engish subs for season 2 because I noticed that some of the translations weren't matching up to what was actually said (I'm not fluent, but can pick up on things here and there).
@@NipponEngie Ahh yes I totally get that! It's true that the non CC for season 2 are technically more accurate than the CC. I just personally think, for English speakers, the CC ones kinda add some slangs(?) which are sort of implied in Japanese, so it makes the subtitles more dynamic/understandable to what is being implied. However, like you said, it doesn't match up completely. I can think of a specific moment where the Queen of Spades clearly said "He's my type" about Arisu, but in the CC version it translated to "I want him." This is definitely off and can make viewers confused (like why does she want him? it's because he's her type, but that was not translated accurately). So, it's a give and take unfortunately😅
CC for season 1 was created from the dub, which seems to be the reason for the differences. My japanese is limited, but I'm glad that the subs in my language tend to be fairly accurate.
As far as I know CC subtitles are made for the hard of hearing, since the subs include sounds outside of dialogue like [music plays] or the name of the speaking person if off camera and similar stuff

@@princeOpalite3650 All major characters have some tie to Alice in Wonderland. For example Hatter obviously being the Mad Hatter, Chishiya being the Cheshire Cat, Kuina being the caterpillar (not through name but always dressed in blue and having ties to smoking and transitioning) ect. There's more but these are just the ones off my head.

This series has references from Alice in wonderland. which the MC is named arisu(Alice) and he meets a girl name Usagi Wich mean rabbit.

Yeah the hatter, Cheshire cat, walrus, carpenter, caterpillar, etc...all major characters have equivalents in Alice in wonderland.

I am European which has no clue about Japan lifestyle either, but looked into some basics to watch this and be familiar with the background...
Made more sense for me since episode 2 after the study...
I can watch a good anime dub, because it is animated and the mouth opening shapes are simple so you can sync any words into them. But when a live action is dubbed and I can clearly see the mouth say an "ah" syllable but the dub says "ooh", it really bothers me.
pls continue of this. the ending is very satsifying.

Im watching Alice in Borderland Season 2 Episode 2. What a coincidence. WHAHAHAHAAA. Well, I am gpinh to watch reactions after I watched the whole season of AiB, until this came, then it'll br worth watching their reactionsss.

Lol I read somewhere that when she said her survival will be good for mankind is because the fact that she is a woman and can obvi reproduce meaning bc everyone seemingly disappeared all around, her as a woman who can actually CARRY MORE LIFE should be kept alive and be protected when worst comes to shove. That is why usually people say keep women and kids safe when it comes to various circumstances for various reasons and in this case the end of the world.
Dub watchers almost universally get the short end of the stick in anything as the quality is far lower on acting talent, ability and production quality, there are 2 anime I can think of that do as good a job at their dub as the original Japanese does.
if you want to see and hear a vast difference, there's a youtube channel to shout out that is showcasing the massive range of talent in some Japanese VA's. (for instance I've recently found out that Gendo Ikari in the original JP dub for Evangelion is Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach and all he need do is lessen the gruff on his voice and raise his voice slightly to create a completely different effect.)
People can enjoy anything the way they want, no problem. However, personally if anything is available in both, I'd always watch them in the original audio with subtitles. To me, the voice not matching the lip movement is too distracting and the performance of the actors is kind of diminished when another person replaces their voice and vocally tries to "emote" for them. Also, it's a bit jarring when some intonations or expressions are so common in a specific culture but then they say it in english, it sounds cringe. I'm glad you settled for the subbed.

I mean it was just an OVA and they didn't just leave out stuff, they changed it. But it totally works and ends up being just as amazing as the manga. I really enjoy both because they're so different they're almost seperate but not quite and both are amazing.
you can feel more of the emotions in subs when it comes to Alice and borderland and squid games but in my opinion, I don't mind watching sub or dud I can do both so more fun for me I guess lol😄

The live action dub is so bad to this is sounds like the actors left through half their lines I'm not adding to the dub or sub debate but the Japanese actors pour their souls out and the dub actors feel like they didn't give a shit about this project at all
